  • i dont know if this happens to everyone else that meditates but near to the end i breath through pursed lips open my eyes and i can see what looks like my breath blowing a clear hole through smoke which is just above my face. i usually lie down by the way. does anyone know what the smoke is? it happens every time.

  • It does not depend on the length of meditation but the time one takes to focus clearly on the present. If someone can meditate well within fifteen minutes then that may be so.

    Do not stray toward rating different things or categorizing things into "good", or "bad", accept things how they really are.

  • Lilou-your videos are always well informed and interesting, but wouyld be so much more enjoyable and I would watch every day if the sound was better. maybe u can use a different mike or sound system?

  • wow i just meditated for the first time, and wow.. my head is so clear only thing im thinking about is this, i cant think of anything else if i tried, its amazing.

    i saw images after i was stable? i guess. first one was waves in an ocean the second was the shore and coast then the third i saw inside of my head like the shape of my skull from the inside, crazy stuff, so glad i looked into this.

    There are a number of goals for meditation, usually examining you

    thoughts and the egoistic mind that create them, is the goal.

    When you examine your thoughts, you will find they for the most

    part aren't volitional. At some point you will 'meet' the creator of

    your thoughts and you will see, that your thoughts are not necessarily

    true and your 'belief system' is controlling your thoughts & you.

  • If you intend to meditate only 15 minutes,

    I doubt you will get the benefits that she

    speaks of. I find it takes me 10-20 minutes

    to 'warm up'! 15 minutes is just a 'boost'

    when you don't have time, But, effective

    meditation, I have found, needs 30-60

    minutes, more is even better.

  • @fntime I must agree. Even I with years of practice can go to state in 10 minutes,but that doesent mean you are done. you need at minimum your age number. 30-60 is good. 15 minits is just warm up.

  • @LunaSeaSane Which professionals? Professional meditators, (lol), I'm not laughing at you, just the concept is weird. And to reiterate, longer is better when meditating. One of the meditations that I do, is the Meditation of Negation, no thought. In the beginning, I could only do this for a few minutes, but over time, I've increased it. Luna, I'm interested in what you are trying to accomplish by meditating. If you want to discuss this more, why don't you send me an e-mail.
  • By professionals, I meant Gurus. Instructors; poeple who have learned & practised this for a number of years and have developed techniques in order to make the experience easier on you. I bet most people only meditate but make no physical preparation before meditation.

  • God lady you are you trying to convince. It sounds like your trying to convince yourself it works. Take it one day at a time without expectation and do it for a greater understanding of your who are, so you can evolve past your selfish desires and serve the world like a prophet to help others. She is doing this to boost her ego and so she can watch herself on the internet. There is a depth of the human mind with its wants and needs go beyond it. Meditiation is a tool for doing just that

  • @nysyc I don't think she is trying to convince anyone. She is just very enthused about meditation b/c it actually does work. I believe she just wants everyone to experience to peace and tranquility that u get when u meditate. This is ironic coming from me b/c I'm the most anxious person I know, but when I do meditate it works as a natural sedative with no negative side effects. I would be doing injustice if I tried to put into words the feeling I get from meditation.

  • @SuperEarther it's all about being to yourself. meditation has been WAY modified over years. no one's meditation is exactly the same. do it the way the most pleasing to you, and if you want true beneifts, please do at LEAST half and hour to forty five minutes. i do an hour in the morning and evening and it is VERY relaxing that way

  • Indeed you can and she does say to in the video. But if you find that to restricting, instead of discarding, acknowledge your thoughts and follow them do not alter change or interfere just simply observe them and if they grow let them, if one passes and another comes allow it. The whole time being or staying conscious of your breath for that is your guide and you guard. At least in this meditation style.

  • this video is great for beginners like me, she is good to advice for 15 minutes--and it works to get more mental clarity and relaxation. im not looking to be some great guru meditating for days, im just a simple man, and this video is great for me, maybe not for you great guru . thankyou lilou

  • All this 'power and energy' are similar to the 1st and 2nd layer of an onion, you need to reach the 'core' (aka The Source) of an 'onion' in order to achieve the light above light. The 'core' contain all your aka overself, innerself, He, I (or any names according to your religion).

    Since born, human carry "3 things" =

    "Me, myself and I".....

    Who is me? Who is myself? And who is I?

    There's so much way and hard to access inner/over self...but there's one easier way..no need to meditate :)

  • 15 minutes a day?Make your sesions 30-45 minutes atleast and do them 2-3 times in one row with brakes for walking meditation only then you will feel what it means meditation!

  • I agree, it is soo American. Especially the wording. "Awesome" isn't usually used by adults outside of the US and Canada. In fact, when I was a kid people didn't use it after adolescence. A pleasant video anyhow.

  • a few other ideas- When you have a thought during meditation. Let your next IN breath cirlce it in the mind and remove it on the exhale.

  • If any thoughts come up, notice them and let it go, dont dwell on the thoughts and get frustrated, it will be difficult at first, untill your brain interupts your normal pattern and gets used to the new pattern of discarding recurring thoughts. It's like learning to play a musical instrument, practice everyday until you master the instrument.

  • I've been fairly consistent with meditation since I found this video, but I CAN'T stop thinking about anything and everything durring the whole time!

    I'm thinking that I'll get better at it but I don't know.

    How do you stop the random thoughts and get the benifits of meditation??

  • Jupiter98111: there are five techniques for reducing the random thoughts and benefiting from meditation:

    1) practice

    2) practice

    3) practice

    (you get the idea)

    There are many "tips" but what I did in the beginning is try to achieve "quiet" for one breath. After you get good at that, try two, and so on. Beginners try 20-30 minutes max. After a few months, you should be able to sit for 20 minutes without squirming, then longer and longer. Long sits are a different experience.

  • Have any paranormal stuff happend to you like a spirit wispering in your ear. I was in a meditative state that I had never been in before. My mind was clear of thought, my eyes felt heavy and I was suddenly aware of my breathing. I was in that state for about a minute when I out of the darkness of my closed eyes I heard a male voice whisper in my ear "hello". I was so startled by it that my eye flung open. I thought I was going crazy. I would give anything to experience it again.

  • cling not to experience. et experience, be it earthly or spiritula, happen by itself. That is the joy of being that I attained. A state of doing, and non-achievement. The doing does by itseldf. There is noone doing it.

  • no this form is strictly releasing and emptying of stress in a day..transcendental is more of a focus and contemplative meditational practice...personally though, i would suggest combining prayer with meditation practices as a tool to help focus in prayer.

  • I've been silently meditating by focusing on my breath. I have also done Japa meditation introduced to me by Wayne Dyer (Getting in the Gap and Meditations for Manifestation) which involved chanting "Ah." I have never done the counting as you have demonstrated here. I will definitely give it a try. I think it is good to try different techniques.

    If I cannot clear my mind I will count but I try to just focus on my breath.

  • Lilou there are two kinds of meditation : impersonal and personal. The latter is preferred because what the purpose of meditation is to connect with God. that is the meaning of the word yoga.
