My 10 year old iBook has the 466mhz consumer version of the same chip and it can't even _play_ HD.

To do HD, you'd need to add power, which means adding mass, which may need a dedicated launch (instead of cramming it with LRO), which means a 200 million dollar mission instead of 79.
