@AshSmith06 I've been wondering how to do that with BFD2 for like 2 years. You can check my vids if you're interested to see just how unskilled I am with it, though I do okay. Also, I don't have the option for VCA tracks...what's that all about? Is that new in protools 9?
@ChrisDodgen VCA's are included in the Complete Production Toolkit add-on and in HD. You can use Aux tracks instead and group others to them for control.
BFD2: In Depth is on the back burner for the time being, although I've prep'd all the notes I'm currently working on my album. Hit me up for any tips, etc... re BFD2.
thanks a millon Ash, I spent countless amount of hours trying to figure out how to make this routing work, and it really would be an impossible task without your brilliant tutorial. Really thank you man! God bless!!! Take care!!!
It looks like you have a BFD plugin inserted on each drum piece (snare, kick etc). I guess I can't do that, my PowerPC crashes with just one plugin inserted.
You don't mention if you need an Aux or Instrument track.
@MindMushMusicGroup I'm using BFD2 on a stereo instrument track and then routing the kit pieces from BFD2 into Pro Tools via the aux's, which in turn are then passed to the audio tracks for recording.
@MindMushMusicGroup I'm using an Instrument track. And I'm running a Mac Pro Dual Core Intel Xeon 2 x 2.66GHz with 5GB Ram here for this video. I've recently bumped my Ram to 13GB however to take advantage of 64bit plug-ins and apps.
I'm working on in-depth tutorials for BFD2 that'll be available on my seattleunderground website. A lot of the "realness" comes from understanding drums and how a drummer would play in real life. I feel programming can be easily learnt... Grab some drumming books and check out all the intricacies/details and playing techniques or hit me up for some more info.
Re ECO, you can only assign kit pieces to a direct stereo out from the output selector or to auxes.
They sound great: I'm a beginner with pro tools and have a Protools Le8 / Mbox 2 set up, but I am looking for REAL sounding drums. is this overkill? How long do you think a novice would be learning whats required to get the drums nailed on??? I know it's a bit how long is a piece of string, but a guess? it looks fairly complex. no?
Nice video been searching for something like this for a long time thanks for putting this up. Do you know by any chance if I could use BFD Eco to do the same thing and lay out the tracks seperately?
This video just made my fucking day. Make more, please.
