this is a perfact example of why smart people dont keep mustangs stock, a simple CAI, TB/P, gears, exhaust and tune upgrade would have been enough to make this mustang beat that camaro. its a shame ford didnt beef these year mustangs up like the 2011s. anyway ive always been a fan of camaros and mustangs.

The horsepower war's are on and both sides will pump out some awesome product . It all boils down to taste, i remember the 5.0 from the 80's it was a slow ass pos till 86 but when 87 came around the 350 tpi would kick its ass! I can personally vouch for that anyday cause my 89 iroc has spanked 5.0s in stock trim! Unless the mustang is a 03-04 cobra or a shelby gt500 stock untouched

No... It Was in The 04-05 Cadillac CTS-V Too. But You Are Right The LS6 was Never in Any Camaro. ( LS1 & LT1 in The V8s 93-02 ) Now The Old LS6 454 Was in The 1970 Chevelle SS. But Thats The Old 60s LS6 Not The New Engine... Were Talking About.
98-00 Had a slightly bigger cam but with the LS1 intake manifold. 01-02 had the LS1 intake and a slightly smaller cam. And the last however many of 02's to roll of the line had a lot more LS6 engine components to it.
I used to be a Gm guy. I had a 93 Camaro. Piece of junk from the showroom floor. It stayed in the shop more than it did on the road. I suspect the newer Camaros will be the same way

@snakestang100 You need to stop looking at factory/magazine ratings and start looking at real dyno sheets. My SS dyno'd 316hp/325tq at the wheels bone stock. With full exhaust/intake/tune it was over 355hp at the wheels.

the 03 04 cobra is the fastest stock mustang, but its still a super charged car that only runs hi 12s if you can drive it and hook up... the ls1 is n/a and runs hi 12s with a good pair of sticky tires so yeah my choice was the 99 ls1 and my girlfriend bought a 03 stang. no joke the camaro is faster and yes she can race good she has trapped at 12. 9 at 106 bone stock , my ls1 bone stock ran 12.8 at 110 the camaro has 130000 miles and the stang has 73000 and both cars are bad ass
bolt on camaro headers,LS6 intake,CAI,exhaust,tune would run mid 12's easy and since the cam swaps are so easy on pushrods you can go ahead and throw a LS6 cam in for a low 12 car and kill cobras all day long for still about 10k cheaper. and the cobra wouldnt be as consistant being S/C

the ls1s dyno at 295 to 310 at the wheels stock iv seen about ten my self, the ls1 in the camaro and the ls1 in the vette are the same rated at 350 hp at the crank gm decided to say the camaro only has 305 witch is right but they mean at the wheels lol

why would you get a new GT. they are grabage. for about 6-8 grand less you could buy the more powerful & lighter 03-04 mach1. & put 3 grand in boltons & your 13.4 car is running about 12.7-12.8. just from boltons. like i said GT's are garbage. the GT is really more of a high school kids car. they are way underpowered for how heavy they are. hell you could get the pussy 03-04 S/C for the same price of the new GT's. but if it were up to me i would get an 02 SS or a firehawk. the 03 04 cobra is the fastest stock mustang, but its still a super charged car that only runs hi 12s if you can drive it and hook up... the ls1 is n/a and runs hi 12s with a good pair of sticky tires so yeah my choice was the 99 ls1 and my girlfriend bought a 03 stang. no joke the camaro is faster and yes she can race good she has trapped at 12. 9 at 106 bone stock , my ls1 bone stock ran 12.8 at 110 the camaro has 130000 miles and the stang has 73000 and both cars are bad ass
