  • My man on the Btone sold me because that cat is getting down! Alright Tech do ya thang!

Ima SU man and TigerBand21 if you don't think SU has class then you need to check yourself. If the only props you base you comment on is the Louisiana Hall of Fame, then I'll let you live in your own lil world and not burst you bubble on our accolades. Trust!

Much love to the HBCU's I got love for them all! You have to admit, for a none HBCU band and the limited options, Tech BOP be hype. Come to a game and peep us baby! • i like it

  • i dont care who you are....they're gettin down.

  • better than lsu's crap version for sure.

And I'm a SWAC band fan.

  • So - b/c the horns don't blat and the drums don't sound like dirt and the choreography is precise the LSU version is crap? Face it, you got beat at your own game by somebody that didn't even have to try that hard.

  • No..LSU's version is crap compares to ours.

LSU is god damn lucky we don't play them. We would blow the shit out of them.

    SOUTHERN!

  • well, last time I checked, LSU was in the Louisiana music Hall of Fame....not Southern.

    LSU has class

    Southern...well...not so much

  • YALL DID LOL DATS FUNNY LOL

  • im an HBCU student...and i love this!!

  • I wanna see La Tech & LSU have a Neck battle

  • I'd take Tech in that battle, but to be fair, I graduated from a high school with a FAMU alumnus for a director.

  • =Respect=

  • @killahcornbread I GO TO LSU AND LA TECH SICK AS FUCK GOTTA GIVE PROPS

  • LMAO @ the baritone in the glasses thinking he is blowing.

  • I like this!!!!!

  • Actually no, they did not get it from GSU's director. It was arranged by the band member. It's not difficult to pick out the song.

  • u sure bout that..??? then okkkkzzzz I DID SAY I THINK! FUCK

  • @qng001 actually the guy took a version from GSU and adding some parts I know this because I gave him the music in 2001 when I was GSU band librarian Dr. P told me to give him our first version. Don't believe me call me out on it

  • @qng001 @qng001 actually the guy took a version from GSU and adding some parts I know this because I gave him the music in 2001 when I was GSU band librarian Dr. P told me to give him our first version. Don't believe me call me out on it. But all in its a ok job See ya'll Sept 4TH in Shreveport

  • @bleuismOMG

And we gone spank dat azz in S'prt too.

  • not bad. i liked it lol.

  • Oh...Im still trying to figure out why ppl are making a beef out of this video. Grambling is a black school and Tech is a white school there's nothing wrong with that so quite naturally the versions are gonna sound similar yet different..they both sound great to me...and we learn just as much as other students at Gram ppl..everybody isn't ghetto there are some extremely intelligent students at GSU as well as dummies just like anywhere else...all this Hating has to stop..real talk....I'm out!

  • Good comment. I'm so tired of the race card being played in society today in ANY SUBJECT.

  • I know right, that gets on my nerves too.....

  • Thats what Im talkin bout Tech..I go to Gram..but we got love for Tech, we all take classes at each others school and hang together so big ups to Tech...they sound great!!!

  • Very awkward seeing a white band play this, but it actually sounds more musical than alot of the SWAC bands!

  • they actually sound better than some of the black bands....just need to be more creative and get crunker.

  • they not even playin no Chords??

  • im going to tech and i wanted to know if yall marched or not

  • Sorry for the late response, but YES, the Band of Pride does march. That's just a stand tune

  • ok because im going to tech and i know the remaining time i have marching in high school wont be enough.

  • Won't be enough for what?

  • Big Ups to La Tech, it must be Da Boot thing to play that. Of course I attended a SWAC school and played ball. But its good to know that other schools bigger than us can play this at games

  • Tech plays it better than GSU but they will never be as crunk with it as GSU!! Go Tigers!

  • does anyone have the music to this that they would be willing to give me?

  • COOMMMMEEE ONNNNN DEY WAAZZZ FYE!!! KNOWIND THAT GSU IS THE FOUNDERS OF THIS SONG!!!!!! I BELIEVE THE GSU BAND DIRECTOR ARRANGED THIS FOR THEM!!!

IIGHT YALL NON HBCUzzzz go head!!!!318 reppin'!!!

  • It was arranged by students at Tech. Read the video description.

  • This was arranged by students at Tech AND their friends at Grambling. Reading is fundamental.

  • this was arranged by my fraternity brother Keith Sanders.

  • No it wasn't.

  • my bad i meant this for another vid. he arranged one for a class with jrob but youre right this wasnt it.

  • I'm pretty sure that Cameo would say that they "founded" this song. Grambling was far from the first HBCU to play this song.

  • Yes, Cameo "composed" the song "Talkin' Out The Side Of Your Neck". I was not implying Tech was the originator of the song. I used the term "arranged". Example: There are different arrangements of this song by many other marching bands. Grambling, SU, FAMU, TECH, have different arrangements of the song Neck.

  • actually the was the first band to play it in general.

  • @bigcletus318 youre ignorant. go back home. plus this band plays it a thousand times better than any noise coming from and HBCU band

  • would the fact that a lot of you are "talking out the side of your neck" about a band playing talking out the side of your neck be considered a self-fulfilling prophecy

  • Not bad at all. Nice sound.

  • WOW! That is good for a non HBCU.

  • @dgoodman why does everyone think it has to be a predomenetly blk band or HBCU to play this song. stfu how it was good FOR A BAND

  • tech is so whack they aian't even playing it right u want to hear how it really is supposed to sound then go to grambling state university they go hard when they play it.

  • haha wow Grambling State is garbage at every song they play thats why every year SU blows them out at the Bayou Classic. P.S. Tech got neck from Grambling and re did it. At least Tech sounds better..

  • "aian't"? Must be that Grambling education.

  • and SU sucks as well... they sound like shit, LSU is good at it. LTech, is where I am gonna go to college. I don't think that this band is that great...but its DEFINITELY better than those 2 colleges...

  • Probably couldnt get into SU and if you could probably couldnt meet SU Bands standards!! The nerve to say that one of the BEST BANDS IN THE LAND OF ALL COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES "suck"!!! You must be high, and then say La Tech sounds better?!! Where is the soul in their version? Yea it sounds good but it is not SOUTHERN GOOD!!!! Talking outside ya neck, bitch!!! Jaguars know that version!!

  • they may not have soul, but they aren't blasting the shit out of it.

  • Why would I want to go to SU anyway? I'm going to LSU, lol. And trust me, I can get into SU...with a MINORITY scholarship....haha.

  • lol, and also, the other reason why LSU is better, is that LSUU is on the ballot for best band in the NATION, is SU on there?? Is it??

OK, and by the way, soupa, I am in a GREAT marching band in high school, we go to festivals all the time, and get high ratings, and our director was in dci. Do you even know what DCI is?

  • LSU and SU are two different styles of bands so of course they won't be in a category guy.

  • Ok guys this is slightly ridiculous. Both bands have completely different styles. Drum Corp style is completely different they show/ORIGINAL, style. I personally like drum corp style but many schools such as Southern and Grambling use the show style. Bands like these are normally there for who they should be there for, THE FANS. The whole point of being in a marching band is to pump your fans and team up, not win awards.

  • it's two completely different schools of thought. Show bands 99 times out of a hundred sound like ass, and i personally would rather hear good music played well rather than a band ruining a good tune with bad tone and no groove. just my opinion.

  • Actually.... in 2007 SU was rated a top 10 Marching band.... LSU wasnt in the top 10

  • @GeauxLSU248 Nothing wrong with SU buddy. I known people who earned their bachelor's degree from SU and earned their master's degree from LSU with ease, so don't treat my alma mater SU like crap because you can learn something influential from any university.

  • HAHAHAHA!!!!!! Thats funny!!! Wrong for that one!!! LMAO!!!!

  • Tech soiunds good for a non-HBCU.

    G-TIGER FALL 75

  • lol SOuthern has no quality lol i meant youl got better quality

  • Sorry but SU's band is really good. I have much respect on what they bring to the band world.

  • 1,000,000 times better than SU!!!!!!!!!!! SU SuckS!

  • May be better than SU but net better than BCU better yet Norfolk State.

  • are you serious?

  • yall straight BUT I GOTTA AGREE WIT blaque736 YALL AINT NUTTIN LIKE US HBCUz not enough soul!!but sounds gud!!

  • Joe Aillet Stadium.

  • good try but this is nothing like a HBCU playing "Neck". If you want the BEST version check out TSU's Ocean of Soul!

    TBS luvs KKY

  • Not even. The '07 TSU's hornline I saw at the HEB Turkey Day Parade in Houston can't even define "intonation" as it was audible torture listening to TSU's hornline over blow wrong notes, and their drumline sound like shoes in a dryer.

  • thats a horrible example to go look at but ur right about hbcu's

    AGGIE PRIDE!!

  • yall is good . but its only 1 band of pride.

~jack robey band of pride member

  • good

  • nobody! and i mean nobody can it like NORFOLK STATE UNIV!!!!!!

  • I see they do not teach grammar at Norfolk.

  • haha good one!

  • Please excuse my friend Todd's ignorant comment. When u r past forty, u fuck up ur statements!! Norfolk is not all that!!!

  • This was our very first home game of the 2006 season so it doesnt sound all that great because hes right next to the percussion which is y you hear so much bass drum.

  • Not be To be honest, True most HBCU normally rides with this song but I hear a few other universities try to play it , so far this is the best I heard. C'mon u gott give L-tech some kind of props, Cuz they do sound Alright. If they can speed up the tempo and lose some of the bass drums they could turn some heads with this song. NICE JOB!

  • LOL. This is good. But, is you didnt notice they have a black drum major!!!

  • I think everyone knows that the HBCU bands own this song but this version is pretty damn good. La Tech could teach LSU a thing or two about how to play "Neck".

  • Not bad for being 5 min down the road from GSU lol

  • my ONLY beef with this vid, is that the tubas lose their steam about 3/4 the way through. other than that i like it.

  • OH this version is way better that LSU. But the HBCU's go tis song on lock

  • EVERYONE SHUT UP!!!

this song is awesome no matter who plays it! Besides, have you heard the crap they sing at Soccer matchs in Europe, its sssssssssooooooo dull.

  • BCC Plays Neck The Best To Me !!!! And I'mma Famu Fan 111

  • good job even though its not my favorite arrangemet. it not everyday u see a corps style band playing songs like this. Not really in to corps style too much im more of show band type person myself but it is good to see corps bands reaching out to the hbcu style. Try watching SU, ASU (bama) ASU ( albany), Grambling versions.

  • Yeah they really did play this song pretty good for a corps style band. And you're right. Too many corp bands don't play songs like this. I guess they must have figured out that show styles get you invitations to play in events like the Super Bowl.

  • lol thats nice i didnt no core style bands played stuff like that cool!

  • pretty good but grambling and southern do it best

  • NEEVVA ITS ALL ABOUT DAT SU

  • Idk... something is just not right.

  • LOUISIANA jus knowz how 2party!!!!

  • this sounds good but uapb's version is still my fav.

  • good, but listen to SU's version of NECK.

  • Awesome and I am in a college marching band

  • nice!!!

  • I attend NSU (Norfolk State University) and I have heard a lot of NECK songs from all different Types of HBCU's and I honesty like this Neck, I don't like many Neck songs from other schools but this one is cool. Also There should never be a race issue in my opinion

  • Yeah, I hate that, but the main problem is a lot of band directors, especially in college, think that "Ghetto" music is not music at all, when there is plenty of musicality in it.

  • Please define "Ghetto" music?

  • I'm sorry, I mean Hip-Hop and Rap genre music. I don't see the problem, I love Hip Hop, R&B, and Rap songs being played by a marching band, when played well of course. I'd love to hear a drum corpse play the Chicago Bulls Theme, WOW!

  • This would be considered Old School R&B (funk). Glad to see that you are "expanding your horizons," taking an interest in other forms of music (notice the word "Ghetto" was not utilized in the sentence, lol).

  • Tech, the drum pieces on this were really original, I give you credit for have a lively version of this songs. LSU's 'Neck' is like a slow dance or more like outro music

  • I didn't know La Tech played that kind of stuff but I sure am glad! They recked that shit!

  • You guys were pretty good. I give you credit for doing it. Some "non-HBCU" schools are a little too stuffy to do things like this. It didn't seem like mocking but you guys seemed to really like the song.

  • DAAAAAAMN, AY.....I CAN HONESTLY SAY I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY WHITE PPL, MUCH LESS A WHITE BAND GET DOWN LIKE THAT.....AND ON TOP OF THAT......THEY SOUND GOOD......IT WAS SIMULAR TO GSU's! BUT YEA....DAT SHIT WAS GREAT!! I AINT EVEN GONNA LIE......I LIKE THAT ONE MORE THAN ANY OTHER ONE I'VE HEARD YET! BUT YALL NEED TO HEAR MILES' NECK.....BUT I AGREE WIT OL DUDE....SOUTHERN's IS REAL GOOD.....BUT THIS ONE....DAMN!! LOL....GOOD......JOB......BY DA WAY, YEA RACE HAS NOTHIN TO DO WIT IT! LOL

  • Ommmm GSU neck sucks compared to Southerns

  • who cares about race - if y'all are having fun and get the crowd hype that's all that matters..good job

  • well, that wasn't GSU's rendition of neck...but it was a pretty good rendition...you all have a good band but I would have to be biased and say that Grambling is the best.

  • Thanks for compliment. Yeah it's not GSU's version, it was based off of their rendition back in 2000 (rearranged though to fit for a corp style band). Overall it was a fun experience getting to hangout and bond with members at GSU when I was in school. Bridging the gap.

  • We were glad to have you.

  • well black guys ARE better at playing the tuba, no doubt. im probably one of the few white guys that can even compete w/ a black dude when it comes to the tuba

  • You might be better at heavy brassing, but that's not really playing the tuba.

  • Nice!!!!!!

  • what the hell! yall sound good though

  • sounds better than lsu's neck

  • Not bad for some white people. Ya'll did good.

  • Why even mention race? That's so divisive.

  • It sounds pretty good to me considering that its usually played by HBCU'S. I like yall's version almost better tho.

  • why does this sound like it's bits and pieces of every HBCU band's version ?

  • VVVV Umm, it sounds so much better when you aren't using a small camera with limited sound capabilities. One who critisizes should know better than to judge too harshly on an ill-placed, faulty-recorded youtube video. Maybe you should stop by at a game and then decide for yourself? I am not a fan of the whole hip-hop band songs, but without proper research and credentials, I believe that your statement proves inconclusive. But, that is your opinion...

  • Killin LSU

  • Please...The LSU version isn't great...but it sounds better than this.

  • I go to tech and this is the only song that people like to listen to. Al the ret is pre civil rights oldies hehehe. Oh I was above this guy when he was recording. Hope this year they get a couple of more pumpin up songss from su/gsu to get us going w00t

  • Damn Good. By the way that is not GSU version. SU has a homemade version.

  • lol pretty good.. But nothing beats the SWAC!!!

  • nice try it made me laugh but still good job

  • Neither band can get with Ohio State though

  • Ilike the part where they shout at the begining. So cool.

  • Actually all 3 of the directors are white, that guy in the front is the drum major. white people can play too. (im the second tenor player from the camera)

  • LATech should have ask SU for the aggrement to neck because GSU neck is water down

  • Not bad La Tech its better than LSU's and ya'll doing ya thing and having fun

  • lol

    it's better than LSU?

  • Personal opinion if you dont like tough

  • no wonder the bnd director is black! they still soung good though!

  • whoa!!! they got dat in the bag!!

  • LSU and LaTech should have a Neck battle. It would be the white Bayou Classic lol

  • Recorded with a Cannon Powershot SD800 IS digital camera, not the best thing to record videos with. The mic only pics up what is near by (like the baritones and drums) everything else sounds distant.

  • yaw white folks got down

go head but you will never be able to

    come close to

    the original kings of krunk'ness

    HBCU BANDS BABY!

  • Tech band has a lot respect for HBCU bands. The arrangement was based off of Grambling's. Tech introduced it into their playlist back in 1999. To those that are not familiar where Tech is located, they are next door to Grambling (5 miles down the road). When I was in college, we partied with many of KKPsi guys there. It's all about the band and having fun.

  • Baby Tech has black people and you ain't even right for your comment. Grambling (HBCU) respects us.

  • eveyr school has black ppl. I'm just saying that b/c both school's are not HBCU's. Yea I was kind of wrong for the title of the match but hey wouldn't u like to see those school'c have a "neck" battle since they both play the song? Gosh!!! My B bay bay....

  • wow....im impressed....i really dont know wut to say, i've never even heard of La Tech

  • Irony....

  • OK La Tech!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I enjoyed that!! Tech, I like to see you play "Big Ballin" or "Skin Im in".
