  • Good to hear all the 80s

  • @hornet841 -- I miss the 80's!! Music from that decade was awesome!! Peace, Alex

  • Actually I meant Buck Rogers in the 25th century. But whatever, it might as well be Buck in the 35th century, and today's shit will sound awesome compared to what is coming.

  • Agreed. All aspects of a song always sounded cool back then. Today the focus is solely on the Facebooked singers and that's it. This past decade will not be remembered for anything because there was no common vibe to look back upon. And the sucky music totally reflects that. It's all technology and tits anymore. I like T&T like any man but it is totally abused, tasteless & dead today in art. Much like Buck Rogers in the 21st century art. Why can't people see that? Maybe they are dead, too.

  • It is so brave of someone to write a positive song like this. Love the lyrics and the music. Kudos to Howard Jones and the mime artist.

  • New Wave S&M Bondage Mime, ftw! \o/

  • 80;s best era ever...

  • TUNE!!

  • 4 años buscando esta cancion... chaqueta e jeans noche de verano esperando por ti

  • LMFAO!!!

  • glad i was in the 80' i feel sorry for the young kids today' the crap music they have to listen too

  • the mime guy is irredeemably bad

  • dammit...I miss this stuff so much :( I loved Howard and would have loved to see him live back then.

  • 80s music....timeless, 4 every generation...simply put, "awesome!!!!!!!!!!!"

  • Todays's music? There isnt any music today and since 1993. Just a bunch of ugly noises. VIVA retro music.

  • now thats what i call music! anyone remember that album? this guy fuckin envented the 80s keyboard tunes. legend.

  • @wheeler134 Yeah bro. The album is The Best of Howard Jones. There are quite a few nice songs in that album including things can only get better

  • @WhatGoSon okay but he might be a nice guy and everything but did not fit in with this video or any of howard's work, okay simon cowell

  • LOVE THIS SONG !!!!!!

  • hey now i dont wanna be a bit of a downer but you say this was real music? i mean sure its catchy and i love 80's music but 1) its not live and had it been so wouldnt sound as good as it does, synthasizers are dead for a reason! you compare this to some of the fantastic live gigs today? Coldplay live? Kaiser Chiefs live? Snow Patrol live? 30 secs from Mars? Live?? Muse live? Foo Fighters live? lol i can only come to the conclusion you arn't real music fans! and dont get out much!

  • @PhxC0BRA how old are you?

  • @PhxC0BRA all those bands suck.

  • Wherever that sweater is now... I want it

  • love this song they really dont make tunes like these no more...todays so called groups suck come on bring back them great artists.xxx love it.xxx

  • Just realized today that howard jones got my birthday. Thats something to be happy about lol

  • i totally forgot this song existed until i watched breaking bad today.

  • HOWARD JONES IS AWESOME BUT THE COULD OF DID WITHOUT THE FUCKING MIME IN THE BACK

  • @YOUREAPSOW Jed was an integral part of the show/act. Also avery nice bloke, I'll have you know.

  • total class.

  • Heard this at an 80's bar a while back and it sounded absolutely fantastic. Pisses on all the shite we have to suffer these days.

  • The 33 people how dislikes this can actually sit still when they listen to this.

  • Imagine when we wake tomorrow its Jan 1st 1980....

    YAY !!!!!!!!!!

  • @bedfordcrusader That would be awesome!

  • @bedfordcrusader Some of us were lucky enough to wake up musically about 1980.

  • This is from when MTV actually was Music Television!!

  • remember, top rank cardiff

  • remember watching this on Top of the Pops as a 13 year old and thinking how cool it was.....crikey.....i've still got my history homework to do and its got to be in tomorrow!

  • Im 17 , and this makes me sad.... becouse i was born in the wrong decade =(

  • Oh My God... you made me remember my parachute pants!!

  • This was a place where keyboards belonged. The biggest mistake of music was taking groups like Rush, etc. and forcing them to incorporate more keyboard. Synth is great, but the music industry was too obsessed with it. Here, however, is where it really shines.

  • when music was really music..

  • dose anyone eles wish that you could get jumpers like that now excellent song

  • @401ashen no, they were shit

  • i fuckin hate mime..... and dont even get me started on Laughing Boy sittin on the stage at 2:02!

  • I heard this in the background on an episode of Breaking Bad and had to find it!

  • Yeah!!!!

  • Great synthesizer-interludes and great 80's song in one! Howard is a cool guy, he "doesn't play by the rules"!

  • I still have this on a 45 OMG showing my age now

  • @jotr1x1 a 45 ?? what's that ?? lol I have some 33's still I'll bet I'm older ...

  • @ronofontario I have 78's.

  • @Islamisbad1 you must be old like me lol

  • @ronofontario not old just, matured.

  • OMG.. such a fun happy song! Some of the best music ever created between 75-90!!!

  • this was the first record i ever bought . still love it

  • 1980-1990 music is unequalled

  • I am so gald to have been a teen of the 80's.. these songs really are the best..

  • @cheekydoddle good opinion!

  • Remember hearing this a lot. Good memories. I was 11 when it came out, now I'm a 39 year old man. Where did 28 years go.

  • thank god for youtube. I just play my favourited list of songs when I'm at work instead of listening to the radio and this is going on it!!!!

  • These were the days. Today's music is dead.

  • @WildBill6942 Im 23 im still giving you a thumbs up, born too late in '88 only I have the privilage of listening to REAL music on here and filling my iTunes with classic songs from the best decade.

  • @WildBill6942 nawet nie wiesz jak się mylisz. Depeche Mode, Queen wypuszcza piosenki... U2

  • still big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it waaaaaas 80'ssss

  • This was the first single 45 record I ever bought, haven't played it for quite a while.

  • I was born in '89, so this was before my time. Sure, it seems goofy, but Jones's music sure doesn't seem fake like most today that cares more about selling an image than a message. :'(

  • This isn't howard jones...

  • Comment removed

  • @AnubisWarGod it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I WANT THAT MOOG BOARD.

  • Howard Jones was better than Nik Kershaw IMO.

  • @xxJohn1977xx nice!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This was very popular at the Old Vogue Night Club in Seattle that year....

  • CLASS...

  • love this song !!! ..Howard jones ROCKED and in my eyes still does !!"There were the days my Howard Jone friends i thought they would never end...they did end... we grow older, but our memories when we listen to him dont age a bit !!!! yay !

  • Yes indeed!

  • best quality, thanks for posting :-) amazing music. kiss from Paris

  • quality.. when music was music..

  • THIS IS SUPERB. What quality. ALL videos on YouTube should look and sound like this.

  • My friend and I love Mediaoutletonline for doonnlooading f.r..ee m..uzzic similar to this one! You should try and search it using Google.

  • Wow! Is that an Alpaca's sweater? btw nice song :)

  • This was my bicycling memory song when I was 15.

  • @radix7508 Funny you should say that, this song is played while a kid is riding is bike at the begining of a movie from 1986 called The Leftovers starred John Denver, Willie Garson, and Pamela Aldon. So when I hear this song it makes me think of riding my bike too.

  • You know, if the reality of the world we live in was just a little more like this song, the world would be a better place. Won't happen. "See both sides"???? That'll never fly.

  • I only just heard this song yesterday and I absolutely love it!

And I actually like his jumper haha :)

  • Ha un non so che di "Solsbury Hill" di Peter Gabriel...almeno nella strofa iniziale.

  • this song is always new

  • Dennis and Gnasher

  • これこそ小室哲哉の原型である。。。

  • This is one of the few songs where the song is better than the video. The music video is just...confusing? Weird?

  • For years, I thought he was singing 'Throw off your METAL chains', lol. I blame the limey accent!

  • 27 people are tangled within their mental chains

  • classic jumper - oh my word there was some awful fashion but marvellous music! Thanks for posting!

  • @TheAntek178

You're right. Howard was a very talented musician. He was also very popular in Poland these days.

In this song you can notice he had listened to Solsbury Hill by Peter Gabriel many times before he decided to record this song.

  • @0:15 BRING OUT THE GIMP

  • I'm so glad that some of the new kids are discovering this kind of music and are enjoying it as much as I did when I were their age.

  • 27 people blinded by science

  • I love the 80's was great being a teenager at that time and there were two types of music goers back in 1983, headbangers+heavy metal, and the progressive so called new wave. I was in between, but it seemed like all the hotties like progressive so to dance, and the partying chicks liked heavy metal!!!!!!!

  • Yeah and the U.S was coming out of a recession thanks to Jimmy Carter, I was 17 at the time all this came out and Ronald Reagan was making us strong again, now we have the great Barack Obama in right now Jimmy Carter 2.0, god help us!!!!!!

  • Wonder how much that gimp with the chains got paid. Great song though!

  • very talented man

  • @Dave78mYT thank you friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • amazing song

  • mamma mia he was big!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • big days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nice! cool!

  • nice! cool!

  • Howard would be turned away at the X-factor auditions, they only want thick clones to manipulate, not real talent that opens up another musical dimention.

  • synth king

  • Loved this song as a kid and still love it now.

  • Howard is still going strong, bless him....

  • omg I forgot about the cheesy mime

  • I remember this song playing while me and a group of friends were waiting to get into "Canadas Wonerland" near Toronto Canada

  • Awesome! Brings back memories for me folks, one of my favorite electronic music tracks.

  • well well well, teenies like an early 80s song ... Howard Jones is from the UK, I believe this is his first US hit ... early 1984 ... If you like this song, listen to thompson twins, big country, billy idol, and police. and Jones other early song Life in One Day.

  • I've loved this song since I was 12, but I still can't figure out most of the lyrics. Where is Howard Jones from?

  • @70Kenny England.

  • Great story "sounddiv", thanks for sharing, I always like this song by Howard, didn't seem to hear it very much back then and hardly now, but a very catchy tune anyway.

  • @jagdflieger100: here's a great story how Howard Jones got starfed: He was working in a saran wrap factory cutting the big roles into smaller roles... He ordered a ROLAND Jupiter 8 keyboard to start making music...and he received 2 of them by mistake. He got the idea the one of the keyboards could play drums, while the other played bass/synth.
