Forgot to mention that the third row seat is now a split folding seat for 2011. The front end has been newly stylized especially the headlights and front grille areas. Very nice. The new highlanders are almost as big as my old 2004 4runner was.
2011 highlanders are built in Indiana. I bought one about 2 weeks ago. Limited 4WD. It is a sweet vehicle. Looks nice outside and in. 19 inch wheels! I got the navigation system too which is integrated with the audio controls and backup camera. Smart key push button start/stop. Pretty cool too. I really like the power lift gate. The engine and transmission marriage is just so Toyota perfect there aren't any words for how smooth this works. Loving it.
I just love how some American people take so much pride in "their" cars that they try to insult and argue with others who drive foreign made vehicles.
@th3ha1og0d The new Highlanders are being made in Mississippi. As far as I'm concerned, a non-unionized American plant for a Japanese car is far more domestic than any car made under the corrupt UAW in Detroit.
Defend what you own. I know how it is. If I shelled out the amount of money that you did for a POS, I'd at least want to try to believe that it wasn't a total waste. Good luck with your shitbox.
* Toyota is recalling 43,000 Chinese-market vehicles including its Highlander and Previa models, along with Lexus' ES350 and RX350. The culprit? Engine oil leaks.
Has anyone towed with it? I'm thinking about buying but have a boat that weighs 3500lbs. Its says it will tow it...but how does it handle on the highway????
@skbuoy: That's not even remotely true. Environmentalism has nothing to do with which car you drive. One can be a SUV driver simply because they need the space(why else would people buy an SUV if they didn't need the features?)
Don't misdefine environmentalism: environmentalism is having respect for your environment and doing your part to recycle, and clean it.
Buying an SUV because you need the space is not an anti-environment.
Just got the car, but realized I can't use the NAV while driving. Not even my passenger can use it while I'm driving. This is a BIG disappointment! Do your online research and you'll see there is a petition from disattisfied Toyota owners to fix the NAV so it can be used while driving. C'mon Toyota...what's more dangerous...using the NAV while driving (this is similar to using the stereo), or pulling off the side of a busy freeway and risk getting struck by a semi truck? The answer is obvious.
I got Limited 2008 apr 2.9 60 months ,10k down ....fully loaded for 41k the finance lady got me 3 k more into some plans but said i can get off them in 60 days , so a bit confused about tht will do some online search
I and my wife originally checked out both highlander and mazda cx-9, we both thought the styling of the mazda is 'way' better, and accessibility is amazingly about the same. but the highlander also lacks a 50/50 splits 3rd row seat, so we are leaning towards the mazda cx-9 for now. we will be checking out the new GM crossover too. forgot the name.
yaknow what sneeoosh, your not far off. but heres the problem that always causes these things, makng too many cars hurts quality, thats why ford has good quality now since they cut overall production.
the 2008-present Toyota Highlander is assembled in
Guangzhou, China
Miyawaka, Fukuoka, Japan
Princeton, Indiana, United States (Oct 2009–present, North America only)

If you are an environmentalist, you wouldn't be driving an SUV! I had to bring that up.

then they should stop making it. you cant blame people for buying the car they want. blame the company for selling it.

He and the Roadfly stat people have THE FUEL ECONOMY NUMBERS WRONG. Screen flash says 17 & 23. I'm sure thats the normal V6. The hybrid is 27 & 25
hotskillet 3 years ago 2
The fuel economy numbers are correct. The 3.5L V6 gets 17 city, 23 highway. Thanks for your input.

@hotskillet The hybrid is a waste of money. I'm getting 20 and 25 on a standard V6.
