  • beautiful music

  • open another tab,go to google type 'rainymood',click the first link, thank me later!!

  • Bobby Valentino- Tell me

  • China

  • Lotus by Secret Garden :-?

  • Just one question.... why is Jet Li using a Katana on the cover?

The Dao was only optimized for combat use during the Han dynasty but was still not extremely practical compared to the Jian until later on.

The film takes place in the Warring States period, right before the founding of the Qin dynasty by Ying Zheng, the to-be Qin Shi Huang Di, Yellow Emperor.

Regarding the Katana, it was developed from Tang dynasty Chinese broadswords (Dao)... that's hundreds of years after the film's setting.

  • @AndyRaslan This cover was made for western people, who generally don't know that. They (and I) associate the Katana with asian warriors and asian fighting.

  • Our Land.

  • 4 people don't have ....souls!

  • 379 :)

  • Seriously only 375 likes?

  • Amazing music.. and this is the most beautiful artistic movie I have ever seen!

  • What an amazing piece. Itzhak Perlman is fantastic. This makes me want to pick up my violin and start playing again.

  • It is a Katana, should have been a Machete at least or Wu Ming sword instead. No matter the music is great.

  • @pspboy7 Wu Ming sword? Perhaps you mean Wu Jian? Wu Ming was the lead character's name....

  • Powerful...

  • Just noticed in the picture that he wasn't holding the same Wu Ming sword he was using in the movie. This one looks a lot more like a Japanese katana? I could be wrong though great movie with one of the best soundtracks.

  • @Laikmuay No, it looks like a katana. Your eyes do not deceive you.

  • @Laikmuay the katana is a derivative of a chinese sword. since the chinese don't use that kind of sword very often, and japanese people used the katana a lot, people associate this kind of sword with the japanese

  • beautiful

  • "Our Land"

  • Too bad they lost a lot of their great culture...

  • @Thrombozytenaggregat wth are you talking about? they are the oldest existing civilization on earth. all of their contemporaries have bit the dust. they might be on the road to capitalism but their culture is certainly intact.

  • @Thrombozytenaggregat Agreed, Communism killed alot of it, and China gave a lot to the world, writing, art, poetry, music, medicine... I could go on and on.

  • Beautiful

  • tim & bob sampled it in the bobby v's song - tell me the original is magic !!!!

  • Amazing!!

  • i love this song

  • I meditate to this...

  • This makes me sleep when I can't fall asleep.. like i missing something , but then my heart is getting 100% full when i hearing this <3

  • Would have never guessed that Tell Me was a sample, let alone from the movie HERO if i didnt hear it from a website.... good shit Timbaland!!

  • this was Bruce Lee's music when he was relaxing :D

  • Oh wow I FINALLY found this song! So happy :-)

  • there's a dubstep tune that samples this, but i can't for the life of me remember what it's called! if anyone knows please reply to this!!!

  • @leobold0612 Its Bobby valentino - Tell me :D

  • @xXUnchartedXx3 forensix - 1st dynasty .

  • This violin solo is phenomenal. The movie was amazing too. Could not have gotten a better movie. Thumbs up to hero!!!!

  • the first emperor of china was qin shi huang in 221bc he united the warring factions and built the early parts of the great wall of china he died in 210bc aged just 49 in his huge mausoleum he had his 8000 terracotta soilders buried with him to protect him in his afterlife amazing!

  • robotruss loves this

  • that doesn't look like Zhang Ziyi on the cover.

  • If you watch the movie - where the song comes on at the end where is SUCH a powerful scene made all the more powerful by the music. I am not one to cry easily but it brought tears to my eyes. Tan Dun's music penetrates right through to places I did not know existed inside myself. Also I can feel thousands of years of beautiful chinese culture underneath this sound. It's a privilege to have ears when people make music like this.

  • @amamood You have expressed what I could not. Thank you. Yes, it truly is a privilege to have ears when people make music like this.

  • Sad & peaceful to me. Somehow encourages me to be the best!

  • 2:12 makes it start to sound like Age of Empires, lol.

  • did this guy won any oscars for music, if not then fuck off to academy board.

  • Killing people was so easy during that time. Flying here and there was so common. Where got such thing, if got world records today in Olyimpic are peanuts? If got, have we evolutionised to be lazy people.

  • Fuck china

Paracel island and Spratly Islands belong Vietnam

    China getoff vietnam !!!

  • Communist China is not the real China!!!

  • @haty01 hell yea! *cough cough* taiwan *cough*

  • @haty01 whats the real china??

  • @haty01 it is the most powerful china there has ever been.

  • @jobjed Well, it is the most powerful China of today, honestly Taiwan would be militarily occupied had the US not backed them up. Considering China dominated the WORLD for a solid millenia or so, I wouldn't say the PRC is quite the most powerful.

  • @O2JAMRULEZ this china has the ability to decimate the human population with WMDs. i WOULD say it is the most powerful china ever.

  • Increible compositor, magnífica pelicula, para mi de las mejores de toda la historia, tanto en guión,fotografía,bso, actores y artes marciales.

  • @patrickmichiyoPARA MIM TAMBEM MEU AMIGO!

  • Maestro Tan Dun is a music genius for this theme, and in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Another masterpiece for a movie. He should be in the same company of

Hans Zimmer and Basil Polidouris when touching a movie with their music.

Just wonderful imagination. Way to go, Maestro Tan Dun.

  • Fantastic

  • Wow this is fantastic i close my eyes and i feel that i am back in ancient times, very moving

  • i like the ending too lol..."wat r u waiting for...unsheathe ur sword.." lol

  • the music and the movie itself makes me always cry. it inspired me in many ways

  • one of the best movies made EVER! whoever doesnt like this is a idiot with bad taste and should eat shit and die

  • What is that bowed instrument that makes such incredible music? It doesn't sound like an Erhu to me, sounds a bit too "bassy" to be an Erhu.

    God this music is good

  • it might be a zither.

but honestly that's a very slightly educated guess.

  • This movie is a masterpiece.

My lecturer suggest me to interpret the background colour, facial expression and music.

Some people say this movie is boring, unrealistic; LOL!!!

For those stupids, they are used to just simply look at the screen and being feed by the subtitle without any thinking.

They dun know what is appreciation or maybe just want the film feed them like a baby

  • @Newbeep well said, very well said

  • It is not an Erhu, the Erhu would give the timbre a singing type instead of a string timbre.

  • @SDouse2009 You're right. In the extras for Hero we can see Itzhak Perlman playing the violin but he described somewhere as to how he wanted to make the style sound like an erhu player.

  • I LUv this u dnt know how many times i watched hero just to hear it!

  • can u give me the link frm where u downloaded this? It is brilliant!

  • bobby valentino sampled this in "tell me"

  • Tell me how did you get that in those jeans

  • the way the piece transitions from the peaceful, yearning violin solo to the drumming reflects the movie and the name of the piece perfectly - yearning for peace. the whole point is that the peace the king wanted to achieve couldn't be achieved without warfare, hence the warlike drums

  • it's crazy how the emperor's logic doesn't seem to make sense at first but then it does and how yet in it's blatant irony, it seems to all come together...

  • this music just steals my heart... so peaceful

  • I truly think the druming spoilt this beautiful piece, I stop watching from around 2:10

  • The title goes perfectly w/ the song.

    <3

  • So I like the tell me sample of the song, but there's nothing like hearing the original violins. I'm a classical guy first, rap/hip-hop/rock guy second, so hearing this version moves me far more. Great!

  • Not violins, it's a single Erhu

  • no, I think the solo part is played by a violin, definitely not being played by Er hu....

  • It's an Erhu without any doubt.

  • @mightyflamelord

You're definitely right that's not an Erhu but a Violin... i'm in the classical music since many years and Erhu doesn't sound like this... And to finish i hate the drums ^^ i prefer without.

  • It is Itzak Perlman, look up the album online. The playing is unmistakable.

  • One of the greatest Films, EVER.

  • I love film Hero and his soundtracks!!§

  • I love these types of soundtracks.I love Asian culture, music and everything else!So ancient and peaceful.

  • Peaceful?

  • @timonczesq

I was referring to this song...it is peaceful.

  • @leanderkane peacefull ?? hmm TAN DUN

  • @leanderkane Violin's are not 'Asian'... or Ancient - when compared to the plot of the film at least - I'm shocked that it took over a year before someone pointed this out to you.

  • @futurestoryteller Not the violins, the music, bro. Particularly the use of the musical pentatonic scale. That's what he meant.

  • Comment removed

  • @leanderkane Not sure of peaceful :D thousands of years of warfare and martial art :D

  • @chuefengxiong in all parts of the world, we stab others in the back to do something great and form great civilizations, dude.

  • It's Itzhak Perlman.

  • No it's not. Perlman played the theme for Schindler's List which was composed by John Williams.

  • Respond intelligently even to unintelligent treatment.

anyone who has negative comments to post ....all i can say is ..it shows us how really empty and rotten you really are

  • @set972 How can I dislike such a respond? XD

By the way, I think this type of music (especially these melodies), can somehow touch someone in the middle. It can dominate our emotional sphere and modify our current thoughts. Is there something stronger than music?

  • @set972

Its not them personally......Its the Lucifer inside of thier hearts that controls thier fingertips as they type....(lol). Peace and Light my friend......

  • @set972 'Empty' and 'rotten' are negative words only to the unintelligent mind. Unintelligent minds say unintelligent words. It's part of life to start up unintelligent or intelligent. It's a beginning.

  • @florinbeje mate you arent a poet this music is good but it seems like it's rotating air in your brain, unless it's a quote, you are being really silly.

  • @wretchedyo It's alright if you can't understand what I said. Some people don't get it. Your response tells me you are one of them. Don't worry about my 'quotes'...worry about your MW3 games.

  • @florinbeje It has nothing to do with my ability to comprehend your "artistic" charabia. It has something to do with the fact that you are embarrassing yourself. This is a commenting section, not a board made for up and comming LSD drugged pseudo intellectual hipster poets.

Also, I barely ever play MW3. I just wanted to improve my editing skills using after effects and vegas, but okay. I suppose I should spend my time with more productive things such as learning how to eat fruit.. :]

  • @wretchedyo Oh, I see how this works...You still don't understand my comment. And, of course, it's more convenient for you to categorize me as some drugged up poet. And in the process you use a couple of 'intellectual' words so you can feel good about yourself.

I like your logic: if it is a quote it might make sense :) Wow! Can you teach me more?

If you need a hug, here you go: xo

Don't forget: my comment wasn't even meant for you in the first place. It was for set972.

  • @florinbeje you can't be too old.

  • is that violin or erhu?

  • i think its violin

  • It's a cello.

  • take it easy man

  • WOW...the way bobby valentino sampled is wondeful...amazing to me!

  • Beautiful song, thank you for your post.

  • That was creative how Tim & Bob sampled this.

  • this has to be the most retarded post ever.

China has 5000 years of history, so your assume that 60 years of communism awashed all of culture away? And there are no communist countries in the Middle East you retard.

  • That is just stupid on so manny levels...

  • there is no comm in Middle East u american fat pig retard drog user bitch

  • close enough.

  • Dude what the fuck are you on about??

  • I had my itunes on shuffle and "tell me" came on, and I was thinking "Ive heard this song before". Now I know why. My cousin was watching this movie and I heard the song

  • bobby Valentino-tell me, sampled from dis!!!

    sick

  • this Melody reminds me of the song

    Bobby Valentino - Tell me

  • yea Timbaland sampled it from one of the songs from Tan Dun....i think For The World

  • Tim & Bob!!! Asian samples are their specialty!! Timbaland who??

  • Im so glad I wasnt the only one that thought that. And yea since its 2002, I'll bet thats where its from.

  • It wasn't Timbaland - it was TIm & Bob, but yes this tune was sampled for Tell Me.

  • Comment removed

  • Absolutely breathtaking! I found this while watching the YouTube Symphony. I love it all and you can really feel each note and what it represents. It's simply amazing.

  • amazing film....music and story heart breaking...........

  • awesome i like this kkind of music, and i lo ve the mubee

  • OMG I love this movie. The melody of the music is so amazing. The movie itself is sad, yet beautiful. Jet Li, Tony Leung, and Maggie Cheung and Zhang Ziyi, did a good joob in this movie.

  • 不知道曲作家大名,中国音乐流行的古典乐真的我很喜欢。

    谢谢上传:)

  • Someone have the music score of this song

  • Tim and Bob sampled this for "Tell me" by Bobby V.

  • 0:43-0:55

  • chinese

  • Perlman is a great violinist. He can make the violin really sing - unlike most professionals.

I wonder what this would sound like on the

Cello? Steven Isserlis is probably the best cellist in the world - and with a little transcribing, this might even sound more epic than it is now.

  • love this song and the film it's sad but it's a beautiful film i love flying snow and broken sword and nameless =D

  • WOW. very good music and the tyko drums are really, i dont know if i spelled tyko right but who cares. awesome violin solo

  • Taiko, and im pretty sure those weren't violins.they were most likely erhus

  • I agree about the Erhus...

the drums are just chinese drums... Taiko is a Japanese drumming form...

  • Nope , it's a violin.

  • Wow.

  • The ending of this movie was sad =[

  • great film. My favorite from Zhang Yimou. Personally more resonant than Crouching Tiger both musically and cinematically.

  • Whence do you habituate?

  • Is this chinese or japanese?

  • Chinese

  • Un super film et une musique qui va avec !!

Dans le style "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" (tigre et dragon) ou "House of flying daggers" (le secret des poignards volants)..

  • graet song and great movie

  • the highs and lows in this track are the things that really capture me, then the strong drum beat comes into it and makes you think about whats stopping the actual finding of peace as the violin gets quieter....

  • That's deep...I have a new perception on the song, thankyou

  • this is profoundly beautiful, sends shivers down my spine...wow!!!!!!! loved the movie.

  • um uh....what i see in my mind while listening to this song in that people are killing each other. sorry i have bad imaginations

  • Watch the movie. This piece is played at the end.

  • Exactly.. the most beautiful thing about this song and the movie itself is what you feel while listening to it. really great piece.

  • This is just.. unbelievable. The atmosphere is just great. You can feel it..

  • Last sunday I saw a concert in Bruges, Belgium, where Tan Dun concucted his water concerto and paper concerto. Amazing! From now on I'm a fan.

  • its brilliant. awesome, respectfull

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listen to. It's just magical. I love it.

  • it sounds a bit like crouching tiger hidden dragon

  • its the same composer

  • That's what I thought. I found that song while searching for this one. I love this song, and the movie.

  • People.... this is magic.

    Who are you mr.Tan Dun?

  • this piece of music breaks my heart. it's so amazing.

  • wow its amazing the way he so beautifully writes the music to fit the mood of the movie.

  • Beautiful.

  • tan dun has an amazing mind

  • wow this amazing

  • This gives me goosebumps. :)

  • This and Tan Dun's Farewell are amazing
