  • I had tickets for this great concert, but i've only seen the last song. I missed the stupid train.

  • How can one person have such an rich, evocative voice?

  • Wait, i think that i hear she saying isabella yet again,as on the music ocean she says it too,am i correct?

  • Wonderful instrument! In which album is this song?

  • @kamikazidive

This is on the album This Mortal Coil-It ll End In Tears

    desweef

  • This is DIVINE, God, how can she sing like that!!!!!!

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs Lisa has ever given us. I plan on covering it one day or maybe playing it at my senior graduation. Thank you, Lisa, Brendan, and This Mortal Coil!

  • słucham ich od 1go momentu (1984) i przy mym ostatnim momencie na tym świecie (przy kremacji) to oni mi zagrają...

  • I wonder what it would be like to make love to Lisa Gerrard--must be pretty freakin' AMAZING!! And have her chant while... hew!

  • I've always loved this track since TMC back in 82 but can't watch this, she looks like Thatcher...! :O( Sorry

  • Tremendous - must be from what - 1985? Its on TMC first album. Ah says 1989 at the end, thought it was earlier. More curiously, the hunched figure banging the drum looks suspiciously like the Cure's Laurence Tolhurst! What do you think?

  • @selsmeister he's too small to see! wouldn't that be cool..

  • The rare chance to see them perform live. Is nothing less than religious for lack of better words..

  • 4 people have lost the ability to listen.

  • Lisa's voice..is just incedible..I could never decide who I loved more her or Liz Fraser...Dead Can Dance,,,takes me back whoosh 25yrs to my halcyon, happy dazzzze.................................oh thankyou lots ..Sophie x;))

  • @MissJezebel61 Lisa Gerrard and Elizabeth Fraser truly have the most mesmerizing voices

  • Unbearably beautiful. How wonderful it must be to have the ability to create as something as heart-achingly glorious as this.

  • Very deep.

  • This live performance is so breath taking, it keeps drawing me back again and again.

  • It's just surreal.......

  • Magic, timeless music. The only one that I really feel flowing in my veins. Lisa, Brendan, please come back!

  • what inspires them to make such music ????

where is her soul and whats the deep look in her eyes while she sings ??

    wish i cd know.

  • I never used labels for these bands .I realized anyone who ever loved punk, siouxie was looking for an alternative to American radio and The cocteaus and DCD and others provided it if you were curious enough to look.I never felt comfortable with alternative etc labels.Punk did enough it said this is different whether it be medieaval choristers like this or bands like P.I.L. who new their CAN history!

  • Such a surreal and mesmerizing performance. They are both beautiful.

  • this is the way the soul shows its creative power and how the world is filled of magic energy, waiting for being conveyed.

  • It was mainly in black and white I think and was set in a bleak landscape, and featued a kind of human bull-fight...

  • What ever happened to the video for 'Persephone (The Gathering of Flowers)' that used to be on YouTube...? It was professionally done and very beautiful! Where is it I can't find it anywhere? Does anyone know which one I mean?

  • the video is for a mylene farmer song with the audio of dcd's persophone used to replace the original vocals. it was removed because of copyright infrigement brought out by universal music france.

  • the name of the original video is mylene farmer sans logique

  • Yes... I've been looking for it as well.

  • I´m a cocteau twins fan and I just discovered this band. I´m pretty young, so I wasn´t around when they were around. I dunno... They are good, but I´m torn.. This is kind of just too dark, dark kitsch, and not in a good way. They don´t have magic outwordly beauty in their music like the cocteaus do. But I guess I´ll have to live with the fact that there won´t be another cocteau twins ever again...

  • @tenderpoissson

I'm a faithful Twinner too! I agree with your last sentence, but oddly enough, I can see Elizabeth Frazer singing this song...of course, you and I would notice the incredible dynamic that is Elizabeth's voice! Very different from this! Cocteau Twins FOREVER!!!

  • @tmar65

I always thought Liz and Lisa's voices would nicely compliment one another if they did a duet project of sorts. Are you familiar with dead can dance at all? This song is originally off the first (1984) This Mortal Coil album, very good if you're not famililar with their work.

  • I think you need to listen more, before dismissing them as a "kitschy dark band" that's such an easy mistake to make with this band. This band weren't the typically kischy dark band then, overtime I can see people thinking that, considering, how later goth oriented bands eventually incorporated their sound into what they were doing. Hugely influential, but hardly a part of the scene.

  • I wouldn´t dismiss them as "A kitchy dark band" they are more then that. They had talent. Some of their songs are excellent, specially orion. What a lovely song. This is a good band, no deubt about it. They happen to not be my personal favourites, but I listen to them at times. Sure, I´d like to listen to more of their songs, if but they are hard to find on youtube..

  • I remember back when they were first put on cd, I'd go in the local music stores, and you'd always find them in the "new age" section ha ha. It was funny, because they were a hard band to categorize, or you'd go in the real "indie" minded stores and you'd find them in the "darkwave/industrial/goth sections, even they seemed to have a hard time labeling them ha ha.

  • This music is hauntingly beautiful

  • and I have just returned to my teenager's time

  • ahhh simplemente divino , ecstatico

  • great group many people dont know about 'em

the music its a universal language, u dont need to undertand what they 'say'

    but hear

  • That woman is in extasis... divine Lisa Gerrard!

  • I've always loved this song since I first heard it in 1989 on 'It'll End in Tears'. Hooray for DCD!!

  • Her voice gives me chills..

  • <3<3

  • awesome

  • terrorificamente angelical !!! son unos geniosssss...

  • licergico...muy bueno¡¡¡

  • DCD foi a melhor descoberta musical em minha vida.

    Ouço todos os dias...

  • brillante, subliminal,..cool

  • me encanta¡¡¡¡

  • I never get tired of this video!

    CHILLING!

  • this song is intense!

  • OMG!I love this song and I simply adore Dead Can Dance!

  • Briliant, thank you TMC for introducing me to DCD so many years ago. Dreams made flesh, the heart flowers and knows itself, the music that mirrors...

  • Sublime...

  • Can anyone recommend another similar music group?

I listen to Coil, but they're more electronic oriented.

  • Trobar de Morte, Deep Forest

  • Tabla Beat Science is very interesting.

  • Impossible task, there is no group like them

  • I agree they are on some higher spiritual level, seriously just look into her beautiful eyes. I can't place a time stamp on this music either it's strange and yet so many people will never know of this brilliance:)

  • @Micaiah I disagree, as in buddhism, we are all said to have the buddha spirit but we are not aware, yet. lisa and brendan were and hopefully still are on the path to enlightenment, and with their beautiful musical talents gave us glimpses of what this universe has blessed us with.

  • @Micaiah Yes,exactly this is!High spiritual level,as you said well!

  • try DELERIUM ALBUM KARMA LIMITED EDITION,

AFROCELT SOUND SYSTEM IS PROBABLE CLOSEST TO THIS, ALSO SECRET GARDEN,

  • I don't have the interview, I only taped the song.

  • 1989? mmm seems i was older then 13..whatever - where is the interview which was aired before the song???

  • i saw this video when i was 13 yrs old or so - it struck me and never left me again...amazing

  • does this have any reference to anne bishop's black jewels trilogy?

maybe it was produced way before but im curious... it suits the mood of the books anyway.

  • i was thinking exactly the same thing. But I can't find the lyrics anywhere on the net... I wish their were some sort of fan produced music or short films out there, When is she gonna release the rights to the film?

  • Lyrics would mostly be glossolalia ... - jibberish ; used for sound mostly /expressionism / a sort of speaking in tongues as the cocteau twins used ....

  • Hey, hey, slow down, nobody's saying they're Lisa's agent. I just happen to have first-hand information that Brendan contributed to the whole arrangement-the backing strings, Bass Drum in the background, etc.: all entirely Brendan. That's all.

  • what a nice looking couple they once were? lisa looking like a 18th century feminine ideal of beauty and brendan looking like a tormented poet.

  • beautiful video - intimate, warm athmosphere.

never seen this before, thanks for uploading! :)

  • 25 years of my life, wow, touching.

  • DCD in their prime. I like it including the subtitles. she signs "that's what I miss" on This Mortal Coil

  • Mooi, heb deze ook gehad op video.

Een van mijn lieveling nrs van DCD aka Lisa.

Gister in Rotterdam zong ze het nr ook met mooie piano begeleiding.

Maar deze uitvoering is echt super nooit evenaard.

  • this has been recorded on a concert in Utrecht, the Netherlands, in november 1989. I was there, it was an incredible concert, as all concerts of Dead Can Dance are! But somehow, this really has got a special place in my heart...

  • It's on the album It'll end in tears by This Mortal Coil.

  • it must be late 80s

its one of the oldest DCD songs

  • First released on the album It'll end in Tears by This Mortal Coil in 1984 4AD records. Lisa of course performed it later as a DCD song. Its hers alone. Usually she is playing the Yang T'Chin herself - not Brendan. And arieljaffe is right. I've been looking for this song a long time - so thanks for posting!

  • they had performed the song together long before it was released by This Mortal Coil. 1 song Lisa normally performs by herself is also a VERY old one: Swans (released in Mirrorpool).Dreams Made Flesh is not entirely her own composition, since Brendan has helped her develop it.I have never ever heard that she has performed that song live entirely on her own. There is NO such single Dead Can Dance (or later) show. Gimme a date pls.

  • tiefgoakern: "they had performed the song together long before it was released by This Mortal Coil" - Where and when? Gimme facts, man.

And I didn't mean that she performed it alone - you got me wrong there. I meant that she wrote it.

But you're right with Brendan, he plays the bass drone and drums, while Lisa sings and plays yang t'chin - as she usually does.

  • lisa's playing the yang t'chin only partially, most of the time swans and rakim, but never ever dreams made flesh.

they have preformed the song before its release during small gigs, i dont have dates at hand (its not so important anyway), the song is in genious :-)

  • she plays it more then partially if youve seen a live concert of hers, your not her agent.

  • my god she's georgeous. and that voice.... there aren't words to describe it....

  • What year is this?!

    Amazing song.

    Never heard it before...

  • 1989... it says right on the video for like 40 seconds
