  • You forgot securing and tarping. I've been flatbedding up in the colder climate and its hard work. Keep up the good work. You should post one where you have to use 14 chains, 7 straps and then Tarp oh and breakdown. That ^^ comment up there is out of line. This job is only for hard working Americans only. Next time you go to Europe; do us all a favor and don't come back.

  • 3:15 laugh out loud

  • @BigRigAuburnTiger you must not haul a flatbed if you think it is easy. id like ta see you go up on top of a load like this and try to unfold ur tarps when it blowing and snowing. bet youll give up and walk away before you done. fucking van drivers. lol

  • I do miss driving for Melton.....had to come off the road for family reasons.......looks like they still got those few Pete's still on the road.......whats there about three left now?

  • Please!....Check out this video about the Combination Cargo Tie Down Winch very useful for flatebed trucking. Thanks!!

  • Flatbedding was the most rewarding experience for me. Loved every minute of it...well not the waiting for loads part but hey, thats trucking. Would do it again in a heart beat.

  • Lol! I just noticed the side of the door says ''Jack.''

  • It isn't that hard of work, it isn't easy, but it isn't that hard.. I think of a lot of things a lot worse

  • @ShannonCole888 Flatbedding is very easy. There is nothing hard about it. Its less than 10 hrs per week of any actual work

  • @BigRigAuburnTiger what about when its raining like hell, snowing or blowing a gale, its hard then

  • nice sheeting job BRAT !!! is that your pete ?

  • Yea, those foam panels are pretty sturdy but I bet that caused some damage on the corners when the forklift operator dropped it. Funny thing is it was the first stack to get damaged. I'm tired of pulling refer and dry van. I'm seriously considering skateboarding if I can't land a job in the oilpatch.

  • Liked the video,I loved the part about the canine translation!!

  • Great video! Im going to school now and grad on Nov 18th. I got a ton of pre hire letters and im more than likely going to a flatbed company. Great job and stay safe out there!

  • ROLL TIDE!!

  • Wow, great job, you make it look easy! Here in Europe flatbeds are not used much, curtainsiders are the norm. This load wouldn't be strapped. I've always admired fletbedders!

    Cheers,

    RT

  • i live pretty close to sacramento, funny dog

  • tarping and untarping... nice task.... arghhh!!!

  • My hat goes off and much respect to those drivers that still tarp...dealing with the wind getting under it and the rain making it slippery and lets not forget the sun making it extremely hot and the cold making the tarp stiff....and to top all that, sometimes the forklift driver won't help you put the tarps back on the trailer or they unload your cargo and still sit it (cargo) out in the mud and weather!!.....Much respect to all of you.

  • Tiger Fan!

  • You delivering in Salt Lake City?

  • Which company was this. ATS Specialized? or Melton. The truck kind of looks like Melton colors.

  • Great insight into a day in the life of a USA trucker 5*,,, thanks for sharing :) Greetings from England :)

    Sean

  • I pick up those exact panels up here in franklin park,Il..........

Never do we need a tarp!!... Very seldom is a smoke tarp required.

  • I watched this again Jimmy. It occurred to me. That's styrofoam. It's not real sturdy. Two questions. I know that the fork lift operator at the shipper probably put your tarps on top for you, but how did YOU get up there? Did you do any damage to the top piece while you were walking around up there unrolling the tarps? Hmmm....maybe an idea for a future video??

  • @HoganMo heyy Mike, the shipper has ladders, well actually rolling stairs, and yes they are foam but they are fairly durable and do not dent or collapse when you walk on them. They may give a little but not enough to damage them. I will say this, the shipper makes you put on a harness before you get on top of the load. The harness rolls across a pulley as you walk on the load....thanks Mike

  • @BigRigAuburnTiger ladders? c'mon what's the fun in that? when i do foam, i climb up the hood and over the cab. leaves some nice footprints.

  • Awesome Job, Those damn tarps would be the death of me !

  • Outstanding video

  • @DCCargoMall Thanks man, I appreciate that

  • @akbrown15 Thanks Bama, yea it can be a biotch sometimes but on pretty days like this day it wasnt bad at all. Fun is folding them in pouring rain or snow and ice

  • Outstanding video! First one I've seen of yours. It looks like you stay in good shape doing all that work.

  • @andrew5184 Well then thanks for watching and feel free to watch my others, lol

Nice work on the tarps mate, you got that down to a fine art =D

  • @CATMUSCLE You better look me up when you get here...thanks man

  • @BigRigAuburnTiger You ever un-tarped and un-strapped and then they told you they were refusing the load?

  • Yea Andy this one was light and I was in high winds most of the way, fun fun

  • 100lb. tarp?!?! DAM SON!! now how would one go about putting it ON the load? lol

  • Usually the forklift that loads the trailer will lift them on top of the load for me, but I have lifted them on top of many loads by myself

  • Another fun filled educational winner!

What was with that fork lift driver. First day on the job?

  • 2nd day, lol...thanks john

  • Typical, you have hauled that freight for miles without damage and the forklift drops it in a few seconds...

Please do this video on a windy & rainy day, lol.

  • Ok man, I pulled that loasd through high winds and snow in Wyoming, fun fun

  • That was a great video Jimmy

  • Thanks Mike

  • great vid

  • get paid any extra for all that work?

  • Yea man, flatbedders generally get paid more and I get tarp and untarp pay

  • worst kinda load no weight and high sided the ice and wind just laying in wait great work

  • Man, the winds in Wyoming were brutal. After this load I picked up another similar load and today going across the Salt Lake the winds blew my load about 5 inches off, I had to pull over and push it back over, strongest winds I have ever been in, I wont lie, it skeert me

  • we had the same wind here in idaho the boss had his wind monitor out clocked some at 55 the average speed of a swift truck its bad when your grading road and the grader is feeling it be safe man

  • awesome video

  • I may need a new prescription, but at 2:37 it looks like it says Jack on the passenger door lol!

  • Hahaha, yea it does

  • Good vid, be careful and have fun, would love to see some more of Jack, perhaps he's in contract negotiations? Take it easy!

  • Thanks Tulsa

  • Big load of Styrofoam, that's cheatin, bet you tell all the guys you overtake that your loaded real heavy to...LOL

  • Hahaha, no Jack, I was in high winds most of the way on that trip and had to be careful

  • Are you sure??..I know i would of!! LMFAO

Good to see Jack's finally got his name on the door....

  • WOW!! That was cool to see how it is really done jimmy. You have it down to a science the way you roll your tarps to the way you grab all the straps working your way from the front to the back. And that looked like a load of insulation "very high but very light" right. That's way the forklift guy threw one off or he just turned to fast. "LOL" Hey thanks jimmy for showing how it's done I really appreciated please do more of these if you can. THANKS

    Stroker

  • Thanks Stroker, yea it was very light, only 5000lbs and a lot of fun in the high winds of Wyoming.

  • another job well done trucker!what a doofus forklift driver lol

  • No kidding Danny, but once it left that bed it was no longer my concern 10 4?

  • Sombody say Skoal? lol

  • Cool video Jimmy.

  • Very cool video Jimmy!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Good video! I think your lucky the fork lift driver didn't run over your camera from the looks of it. Ha

  • I had my eye on him BigE....looks like yall got Woodson, for now, lol

  • good stuff! how many years have you been flat beading?

  • Only 2

  • You did look like you were having fun folding these tarp!

  • Nice video. I think if Jack is so smart he should get his lil butt out there and help fold the tarps!!!!!

  • awesome, awesome, vid jimmy! just another insight in the day of the life of a flatbedder, you do a great job there sir! that was funny what MnTrucker said, you take so much care for your freight, just to have the guy in the forklift dump it....wow! 5* bud..stay safe

  • Thanks Vic, keep in touch while your in school

  • cool video man

  • Load it up and truckin...Drive safe

  • Thanks Bill....WDE

  • hi jimmy.cool vid,you a good man, jack look liked he needed that.you were close again give a call when in reno.drive safe.

  • Hey man, I'm at Sparks Petro

  • great video jimmy and i saw Jack in the video so i dont think ill sue you LOL

  • You are very kind sir, lol

  • your welcome lol

  • you showin' me up Jimmy? lol. that looked like a nice lite load. btw, what do you use to roll your straps? by hand or a winder. i got a strap winder when i first started flatbedding, and i still use it. be safe man.

  • I have never had a strap winder even though my company provides them. Rolling by hand is a good arm workout, roll 12 straps by hand as fast as you can and my arms are singing. Plus I can just about roll them just as fast by hand too. I actually forgot to include the part where I rolled up my straps

  • Oh and hey, I been dropping in Tooele. Picking up machinery here in MN off the pipe line and bringing it over there.. lol bet i coulda put this in the other comment1

  • That ticks me off lol, we gotta pay out the ass for cargo ins. Tarp, and take all this care to care for the freight. But. Half the shit i have had to tarp, IE: shingles, brick/block alot of coils sit out side. And the other half falls off the fork lift because there retarded or in to big of a hurry... Yea i suck at ranting. Nice video buddy. Drive safe..

  • Great Video Jimmy Jack should have been not so lippy if he cant do it LOL 5*

  • 5 Stars for dropping Cargo!

  • @Matthew3777 hey I didnt drop anything, that was on them, lol

  • So much easier with a roll tight or Quick draw

  • Yeah but so much more money. $13,500 for a roll tite, vs 850 for a set of good 8' drops....

  • @MnTrucker1984 I have 8 ft drops, 4 ft, 2ft, and a smoke tarp, and didnt spend a dime, lol

  • LOL@ squirt the dirt. great video jack!
