Learn from experience. Before you book / pay for this much, you should've checked the room amenities in their website. Someone hasn't done his homework ;-) As for the bathroom, most hotels would be more than happy to swap a room for you. Even in a 3 star one. Just tell the reception nicely about the problems in the room. Sorted! x
what is one of the best hotel to stay in in Timesquare, i will be vacating there in less then a month and need a decent hotel for less than $400 a night??.. please respond, thanks
Good video, and this was not like someone picking out something small like a burned out light bulb and making a big deal of it. Also, you were not in a discount place, you were paying for a good room, not a flop house type price. Sheraton apparently does not inspect their properties very often, as they are supposed to make the franchisee take care of things like this. I stayed in a Sheraton in New Bern, NC which made your room look like a palace, though.
I stayed at the Sheraton on 7th Av back in 1967. The Stones rented the floor above me. Lots of noise. I couldn't sleep. The place was immaculate then. No AC in those days but it was nice and warm when I stayed there in the winters. Very convenient location, Penn Stn across the street, times sq nearby, good shopping on 5th Av. I guess I won;t be staying at the Sheraton on my 2009 visit
OMG! That is horrible! Unbelieveable. I would throw a fit to end all fits and demand at the very least a partial refund! I used to work for a very nice couple from India who owned a hotel. Foreigners have a horrible reputation as hotel/motel owners. But, they fired housekeepers for doing a poor job and would do the cleaning themselves to make sure it was done right!
I always check customer/guest reviews of hotels and restaurants now! Please post a review of this place everywhere you can!
Oh I hate this sheraton hotel. When I was in new york last year, i hated it. The walls were so tidy. When you go to new york, go to the hilton or marriot hotel please, because you really dont enjoy it staying in sheraton.
you should send this video to starwood's head office. something tells me they don't know about it and will not be impressed with the way Sheraton New York is being managed. I have stayed at numerous Westin hotels (owned by starwood) during the years and the rooms and serices they offer are astoundingly good. starwood prides itself on service and customer satisfaction. you should let them know about this New York hotel.
well i've stayed at the sheraton in september 2006 and it looked way better then this. everything was renovated. we esspecially wanted a room with a view. we actually checked 4 rooms before we settled into one. because it's hard to find a room with a view. and the rooms are not so bright. the one we settled in was pretty fine but like i told you, we had to search for that better room. and i used to like the carpeting in the lobby before they renovated the place.
This hotel was built in the early 60's. It was originally called the Americana Hotel. I often used to stay there. Back then a night's stay was about $21. From this video I can see that the bathroom fixtures haven't been changed at all. I hear It´s been renovated now. Well, I at least I hope so...
the bellboy there told me that, he was working there since it was called americana in the 60's. and he said that it's pretty hard to find a room with a view now. then, when it was first built, you could actually see the central park and even the whole island from the rooms. nowadays the hotel is surrounded with many highrises and you can't see a thing. of course except for some rooms..
Too bad about the view, but it still is a wonderful building, revolutionary even. One of the first steel and glass buildings to be erected in New York, and certainly one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. I hope it'll be decreed a city landmark some day, it deserves that...
Just got back from my NYC trip yesterday. We stayed at this exact sheraton for 5 nights with no problems at all. Room 2441 to be exact. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were very clean, and A/C worked too well that we left it off 80% of our time in the room.
starwood has very high standards, if this was going on they will fix it quick, did you ask for a different room or to be put into another hotel? customer service is first with starwood no matter what
I think I will try and look through my family tree and see if there are any relations that I could stay with in the New York area; I don't think I'd like to stay in that room, for that amount, a great aunt would be nice or evern a german cousin, or ...
I'd like to know when you went there, because it's been totally renovated this last year?
I bet you work for a rival hotel. It's a pretty bias account of ONE room out of 1800 rooms. Barry S. isn't with that company anymore. Sounds like the GS staffer you spoke to was very accomadating, that's not bad service.
Im sure its alot better now

i stayed at the sheraton times square(i think right across the street)
the room's size was actually great, in terms of condition the room was great except for one thing
the walls paper thin, and we could hear everything on both sides of our room.
i asked reception if there was anything they could do.
two words, CONDESCENDING AND RUDE
worst service i have ever received. ive stayed in shit 1 star hotels and gotten better service
NEVER STAY AT THESE PLACES

Look at it this way. If there was A/C, it probably would have been broken. And there would be more thing to add to the list of grievances.
