i'd definitely buy this if i was using a mac (i use the Linux version of ardour).
but i don't like the way they describe ardour's features as "Mixbus" features. Ardour is a full-featured DAW, Mixbus is simply Harrison throwing a bit of their magic on top, mainly in the mixer.
It looks like harrison did a nice job here. I use Ardour with Linux.
When combined with VST/ASIO apps, you can do quite a lot. Another thing that these guys don't mention in the video, it that Ardour does use midi-time code. this way you can sync up sequencers, and other applications. then you can route them in and record. It's very flexible..
@studiomarek I think the compressor is set on purpose the way it is, because of the background music. The attack of the voice is pronounced, but then the compressor kicks in to make room for the music. So what I figure.
Sorry, this just isnt gonna fly, too many people use Daws that have midi and virtual instrument support, routing from logic is a major pain in the @ss, My interface has 10 ins and 2 outs so the who jack thing only lets me route 2 channels at a time?
Sure I could just import all my audio into Ardour, but it all ads up to being inconvenient when Logic has everything right there
LoL, these Guys know a thing or 2 about Quality, makes Pc software look like somthin from Kinder_garden . . .laughin all the way to the Bankrupt Bank . . .hahaha Shit Hot Software Mr Harrison :)
Cool. Basically a place to mix stems. Why is this better than mixing in a sequencer or in Pro Tools? I already have the Dangerous Music 2BUS. I just wonder if there is much of a sonic difference. @ Harrison: you would sell more if you gave people a limited demo that they can try it out imo.
I got Mixbus a few days ago and did some work with it. Usually I compose and do all my tracks and inside Cubase until the final mastering process ... however, I rendered my tracks to audiofiles, imported it to Mixbus and just mixed it there and I already feel a significant boost in my mixes in terms of transparency, warmth and size. Mixbus is definitely not another DAW which simply throws together all your instruments and creates a clumsy stereo rendered file. It's like having a consolse at home
GregorEicher/Yikes boy... why oh why do people comment on things they haven't taken the time to research...? this is an easy entry into a DAW that already exists (Ardour) and has been around for a long time.. I have a few DAWS already, but will purchase this for what it is... a VERY nicely priced set of world class processors..
You can run ANY OS on a personal computer, i.e. a PC.
Defining a "PC" by the use of an MS OS is garbage perpetuated by MS AND Apple marketing.
MS had a smart licensing strategy in the early days hence it's 'stranglehold' - Joe Public doesn't know any better.
If I wanted to make money, I wouldn't be competing in an already saturated market, particularly one where piracy is an epidemic, I'd look for opportunities elsewhere.
I reckon only 5 of those 9 you speak of would have paid..
Why oh why does everyone feel the need to reinvent the DAW over and over again (unsuccessfully). Destined to fail along with the following: Record by Propellerheads and Studio 1 by Presonus. There is an abundance of really solid and well-entrenched DAW players out there from Steinberg, Apple, Cakewalk, MOTU and of course, the 800 pound gorilla Pro Tools (by Digidesign...err, an Avid company ;-)
Need to try this..

Can you import video into Mixbus? I'm curious about using it for film scoring.

Please make a mixbus or for ardour on linux that's compatible with LADSPA and LV2 plugins. That would be excellent.

Most amazing sound I've heard in a DAW.
It reminds me of my old analog studio sound.

ProTools and my 003 have only let me down 3 times, but each time was with a client, and no explanation as to why things kept crashing.
I'm preparing to sell it for a LynxTWO card, and Logic and MixBus. This application looks promising.

I'm always skeptical about new DAW's, but actually, I'm really impressed here.
This is what I actually been wanting for a while. DAW with an analogue layout.
Well done to you guys

You can use the full featured Ardour for free which is the DAW Mixbus is based on?

ReWire?
gonzolagonda 2 years ago
Mixbus uses JACK instead of ReWire. It allows you to connect any CoreAudio app into the inputs of Mixbus.

With regards to VO, I think the compressor was set a little too slow.
Each time the VO starts a new sentence, it hammers into my ears.

How come no Demo??? I am an entrenched DP & Logic User. Those Harrison processors seem appealing....
That Tape Sat, is that Ardour Tape Sat with a GUI or is this Truly a Harrison Algorithm.

Any chance of a Windows port one day?

no Midi. Mixbus gives you the functions of a traditional analog studio: a recorder and a mixing console.

does it have midi?

Mixbus is different for 4 reasons:
1) Harrison makes standalone professional mixers. We didn't "emulate" a mixer, this is the sound of our mixer.
2) Harrison is entrenched in the ultra-high-end markets. Mixbus is not a "dead end" but rather an introduction to the larger systems.
3) We did not reinvent the DAW, we used an existing DAW with thousands of users as our platform.
4) $79.99 intro price
BenLoftis 2 years ago
Composing in Ableton and mixing down in Mixbus sounds like a killer combination.
Dysanfel23 2 years ago 2
@BenLoftis ok it's kinda silly that you don't have PC... do you know how much more people will buy your product if it's on PC? exponential!
For every 10 users, 9 use PC and only 1 use Mac. Do the math!

Because the DAW in question has been around for around a decade already and this is a customized version of this DAW with propriety additions.
So I take it no one is allowed to release VSTS for cubase or Logic anymore???

Why not repost with top quality audio mix- or is it a youtube limitation?
