It's wonderful that Vince McMahon choreographed this match for Junk Yard Dog to make a phenomenal comeback in the end where he finished off Mr. Wonderful with a three count pin but it's a real shame that Vince chose to pulverize Junk Yard Dog throughout his career and never even allow him to hold any championship titles. What a selfish asshole Vince McMahon is!!
Interesting to hear Jesse lambasting Monsoon, who he would soon be paired with and go on to be considered one of the best wrestling play by play teams ever
What a monumental matchup between two strongmen. But Orndorff got the upperhand after he put the piledriver on him. From there,JYD was never able to mount any kind of an offensive in the rest of the match. Gool old vintage WWF stuff and memories!
I would have never known that was The Fink if no one here said anything. Wow after hearing him on mic all these years, I just automatically assumed that that's just the way he talked in his normal voice. lol.
That opening piledriver was a killer! I've always felt that when it came to a regular jumping piledriver, Mr. Wonderful's was the most devastating ever.
i was at this match. while i'm happy to see it here on Youtube, it's too bad you really can't see JYD bleeding here. But he did bleed, I was at ringside a few rows back and saw it clearly.
@bhilcu1 what do you mean? Orndorf was robbed, that was a fast count when the hold should have been broken anyways. But back then this often happened, biased refs giving matches to Junkyard Dog, one of the most overrated wrestlers of the time.
Who the fuck cares if it was a fast count or not? A three count is a three count no matter what! JYD won that match and there was no excuse for tactics like that as Jack Reynolds said during the after the match commentary!
@bhilcu1 Jack Rwynolds was always a biased announcer. JYD was totally over-rated. If it wasn't a jobber he was fighting he could only win by getting lucky like this.
Jack Reynolds liked the good guys and could not believe what the "heels" got away with! He liked to see a good clean match and that was not a good clean match! Yes, JYD may have been overrated but he won that match. It don't matter if it was a fast count or not, a win is a win and Paul Orndorff showed just how arrogant he was by continuing to beat up JYD the way he did after the match was over!
@bhilcu1 That is the problem--Reynolds was supposed to be an unbiased journalist and report what he saw, not judge whether a match was "clean" or not. JYD regularly brought a weapon (chains) to the ring as if it was a gang-fight and not a wrestling match. With all that against him, what could you expect Orndorf to do?
Paul Orndorff - October 29 1950
Sylvester Ritter - December 13 1952 - June 2 1998

Orndorff vs. JYD when they were in Mid-South Wrestling was main event stuff. WWF ruined JYD's character and relegated him to a mid-carder!

Orndorff was a babyface for a short period of time. After Orndorff turned babyface, in a short period of time Orndorff betrayed Hulk Hogan.

Gorilla Monsoon was not biased. Paul Orndorff had no business assaulting JYD after the match was over and Jack Reynolds could not be more right.
