  • BRAVO ! ! ! !

  • This style of music has nearly disappeared in the US and yet that is where it originated.

  • This is playing jazz. Out on the street. Taking it to the people. I would love to come over there and see you live.

  • Why, why, why don't they do a tour in the USA and not at malls ! We need this talent shared here. Good ! ! Thanks again ! ! ! Maybe it is a money thing.

  • I think the money is not the problem.

The band would love to play in the USA. However they need an agent in the USA who is willing to organise things there.

  • My youtube experience shows me that Nederlands appreciates the best music on earth more than almost any other land. My compliments to your group & your countrymen ! Added this to the 1927 & Adrian Rollini playlists on my channel. I'm building a music history channel with over 500 playlists so far. My lists feature most genres & cover the globe. 111 lists let you hear the music of any year since 1900 like you've stepped back in time.

Thanks for your beautiful music! Groetjen van Arizona, Chuck

  • Hello Chuck,

    Thanks for your nice comment!

    Kind regards,

    Bert Brandsma

  • All those shoppers passing obliviously by on missions to buy underwear, socks and bright red whatevers without a glue to what they're missing in life. And so it goes...

  • I miss playing such awesome music back when I was in highschool.

    <3

I just want to say that I might be preaching to the choir here but if you are going to play any kind of music, jazz is the best kind to get you in love with music

  • It baffles me that all these people walk by without a second look. If only I could stumble across them playing someday! =)

  • @tellmeitsnottaken Places to go, people to see, eh? ;) I would probably to the same, even though I love listening to this kind of music. It's sad, but it's just not something you sit down for on the street.

  • we are playing this for jazz band at school.

    i play the basssss.

  • You guys should try singing the lyrics to this one of these days. Because they're actually quite funny, and even more fun considering that no one else has sung it before on you tube.

Hearing the lyrics for the first time (to a song you never hear sung) is one of those experiences that just have to happen!

  • Very interesting that you use a bass saxophone instead of a tuba!

  • That woman on the Trombone has got some nice "curves" lol.

Sorry, not to sound sexist, I can't help myself sometimes

  • Maybe you could also listen to the brilliance of her playing!

    Thanks for watching,

    BB

  • Fantastic job men!! Had me doin the New orleans hop with my umbrella! LOL. Many Thanks.

  • Very Impressive! Howdy from Mississippi! :-)

  • Thanks for watching!

    Kind regards,

    Groetjes from Holland,

    Thanks for watching,

    Bert Brandsma

  • With such great music to listen to I wouldn't get much shopping done.

  • i love dixieland and that tune especially!

big up yourselves for the coragious street playback!

  • Haha, thanks!

    nothing playback, all played live!

  • Great stuff! Sliden Selena play the finest tailgate i have heard.Miss hearing a clarinet.I know bert can only play one horn at a time.

  • HAHAHAHA this is so great i love it,,

  • Thanks!

  • i play the trombone and a few friends of mine and i are trying to assemble a small ensemble like this,,LOVE your style

  • Espectacular

  • Nice.

  • I just love this band! I've listened to a number of your videos and keep replaying them. Okay, I confess: I'm trying to grab some licks. I'm a comeback trumpeter, playing again after

MANY years, recently "drafted" into a dixieland band when the previous trumpeter quit. Your videos are a textbook.

I've always loved the bass sax and Adrian Rollini. Mr. B, your playing is terrific. Hell, everyone is terrifc. Hope you're getting all the gigs you deserve.

  • We cannot complain about the number of gigs we were able to play in the last 4 years, but always are looking for new ones!

The Bix/Rollini recordings are among my favourite 1920's recordings.

    thanks for watching,

    Bert Brandsma

  • It is a snare drum, with a cymbal attached to it.

    Thanks for listening!

    Bert Brandsma

  • wow... .lol in a mall?@!!.... niceee

  • Cool!!

    Groet van de zingende broeder

  • great tune! Tomorrow i gonna see you playing alive at Mealhada (Portugal)!!!

  • Fera D+

  • Merci bien!

    Bert Brandsma

  • i am doin this song at a concert

  • It's a nice one. Hope your concert will prove to be succesfull.

    Kind regards,

    Bert Brandsma

  • Great job. You have the authentic feeling.

  • That "pappnas" must be a wind up merchant,he can't be serious. I've been playing and listening to jazz for 50 years, this is a great unique band, just hope I can get to see 'em in Birmingham later this year.

  • EXCELLENT MUSIC GUYS!! THANK FOR POSTING THIS GREAT OLD JAZZ! ignore those comments from people who know nothing about jazz...they are just jealous of your talent

  • How unfortunate that one person "Pappnas" could be born with both no appreciation for good ,make that excellant, jazz, AND a rude personality.... Please feel sorry for him!

  • That band has got no talent at all!! It makes me wonder that the passers by dont beat the shit out of them!

  • Then simply don't watch! Why make life so difficult?

  • There is a section in the record shop where you get this music. Its called the crap section. In the dumpster.

  • So what is your problem?

  • Yeah!!!!!!!!!! Tof!! Lielian!!!!!!!!! Mijn complimenten voor jullie allen!

  • ah, good old dixie land.

(also im not sure if it can be called the bass sax also, but I'm pretty sure that its called the barry sax)

  • This is definitly a bass sax, it is bigger than a barry sax. I also have a barry, but prefer bass in the dixieland band.

  • Funny to watch people just passing by the band (so original, so skilled), not paying the slightest attention. Most of them may be into rap "music" or such. Oh, well !

  • Oh yes, respect for people who made years of effort to learn a musical instrument has gone in our country. Sad fact, but maybe the common practice from music coming so easily out of computers has to do with that.

DJ's are much more popular then people who actually can play here. Even more than Rock musicians.

  • You are completely right. I admire your effort to keep this wonderful music alive. Dont listen to those fools...

  • they nailed it!

  • ledgendary and good!

  • Bix forever!

  • excellent!

  • holy, thats a huge saxaphone.

  • you're a freakin' dumbass bastard

  • Very good, I like very much.

  • Merci bien!

  • I would give anything to be in a dixieland band!

  • sweetest music in the world, how can all the people strolling by be so apathetic.........

  • People in Holland just are. Too bad, really.

  • Sad to see that people in Europe can be just as apathetic as in the US. I blame TV. Generations have grown up not knowing how to interact with live performers. Add that to the fact that you are presenting an art form that is old now, and you get apathy I'm afraid.

I try to draw them in with a bit of entertainment and engaging them directly.

Apathy like this is why performers turn to drugs, and why it is important for musicians to find their satisfaction from within.

  • People just don't respect the arts anymore. Too bad I'm going to make a career out of it! At least I can still enjoy a good performance.

  • good little drummer she plays nice brushes. i wish she could take some drum breaks with the band.

  • I uploaded a new video today, Blue Lou, with some 4 bar breaks by Lielian. Enjoy!

  • Ah ah good music

C'est simplement un grand piedque j'prends.

ça me rappelle "Les Haricots rouges"...

  • Merci bien pour le compliment. Escusez, je parle Francais tres miserable, mais nous connaisez "Les Haricots Rouges"! Cest un orchestre formidable!

    Bert Brandsma

  • wow!

    Kind regards,

    Bert Brandsma

  • It looks we will be in the UK in july, Birmingham Jazz Festival.

  • What kind of idiot gave less than 5 stars for this one?

  • We need more bass saxophones like this!

  • Classy. A mall finally worth shopping at. :)

  • I'm amazed that the audience just wanders by with hardly a glance, while there is some great playing going on under their noses! Holland still seems to be providing us with some plenty of jazz; long may it continue!

  • The hats are awesome.

  • Why? They are our way of life!

  • I love you guys (and gals)! Thank You for posting this!

    Richard

  • very interesting
