i ran across your videos a few weeks ago and they inspired me to get this game. so far however ive been getting my ass kicked and thats why im watching them again. Also ive titan bombed myself out at least 10 times since ive had this game in 1 freaking day and every time i try a titan bomb near a ledge i think of this video and every time i get rung out. lastly yes you overstate the usefulness of his 1a but its good for playing mind games when you hold it.

My usual set of attacks, unless the opponent is very skilled:

6A(Hold) B, Followed by a 5AB 5AB, (While opponent is falling from last hit) Grab

While the opponent is on the ground from the air grab, 4B(Hold)

If they try to get up I just give them a 5K

if you do the jump into air grab at a certain distance from the edge your opponent will actually roll off your knee and off the edge . Ive done it many times. LOL at the car horns. If you play against somebody who's played against Asteroth about 20 times, Titan Axe becomes a really bad opening move. I've seen it so many times online that I just wait for it and GI/Parry it or just straight up bullrush them instead when I go against another Asteroth.

Can someone enlight me about the titan bomb? I mean for me it works maybe 1/10 times. Is my controller crap or am I just not fast/skilled enough.

practice it. I could only get it to work about 1/10 times when starting it. Now I can land it all the time. You'll just have to get used to the right timing when to start the input after your launch. If you're still trying to use the buttons like you're playing SC1, try using the left trigger for the grab instead.

at 3:33 i think you should have shown FC3K instead, applies to most guarded lows

2A+K follow ups for CH6AB, 3B, 4B+KB is much better.

for CH 6B, best follow up would be 22[K] >22_88B

Just for this comment, I may decide to make one for advanced players. It could include tech traps, more wall combos, 3B mindgames, etc. However, I don't really want to give away all of Asty's "secrets." Then, people could easily prepare for him when going up against him...

IMO this is what's wrong with American fighting game players...in Japan they are constantly sharing information that they discover about fighting games, thus people can strive to keep improving against much more advanced players while improving their mindgames, which is what its really all about.

Making a female character seems to make some combos different.

For example, if the opponent bounces from a 1[A]B, you can grab them right out of the air with a female whereas with Asta you'd need to stomp the ground and then grab them. I mean you get less damage than throwing in the stomping anyway, but just saying you can, and thus things are a bit different by being lower to the ground.

But yeah, it doesn't really matter. But if I found something as simple as this, surely someone's found some pretty neat stuff you can only do with created characters.

I'm not a pro though, I'm just a casual player. Not very good at SC. But I'd imagine your range, hitbox, etc. also change which would explain why people don't like allowing custom characters in tournaments. Or maybe it's some other reason. I don't know.

You can use an A+G grab after launching them with the 44B+K,B. Use it when your enemy is backed up against a wall, you can attempt a low-throw when you slam them into it.

never really a fighting player, more into shooting but when I play this I always go with Astaroth. Easier than a lot of the other characters. I still can't get used to using the two fingers though. Can't keep my thumb off the Guard Button. So doing some of the moves is hard for me with just a thumb. Ever consider playing with Rock?

Don't use 1A that much, any competent player will just GI that shit; ESPECIALLY not 1AB.

Yeah, I usually use it while they're on the ground, a good distance away. That way, they can't GI it, and they must block or take the damage. In certain times, it can kinda act like a tech trap...

If they're close and choose to not tech on knockdown, I'll do 1B for safe damage. Usually they catch and start teching, and that's when the crouch grabs begin, but really good players break those too; Astaroth just doesn't have the tools he used, especially after they nerfed his 6K in the last patch.

Absolutely as a sigfried player i cannot tell you how many times ive seen a astaroth player use that 1ab and think they can fool some one. not knocking the good player but there are other methods its now gotten where if i see 1a i might just jump over it 1aa is actually more unpredictable while 1ab should only be used for conditioning 1aa

6k is better then 3a when it come to range and follow ups also his 3k~a is nice for a low mix up at close range as well as 1b....

nuetral ab on CH allows for similar combos as 6b or his 3a..mix his high lows and grabs and thats atraroth

nicely done very helpful for ppl starting out. about astaroth, in a competitive playing and tournements on SC3 i always played as astaroth but at IV he got toned down real bad, losing many things including his close range game, now i rarely play as astaroth except if i wanna punish some new sc players "noobs".

It's sad that you gave up on him so fast. He is quite different from the old Asty's. However, there are new tactics to use with him now. Plus, competitive players have used him to win or place top three in tournaments so far.

Yeah, for me Astaroth is still the best character :D I Play him since Soul Calibur 1! I love how you can destroy players who're not experienced with Asty in like 3 moves :D

The thing is, i als played with 6 other charecters really long. Trained alot. But i never happen to feel as secure and good as i do with Astaroth. Maybe because i always have my asty patterns in mind, even when playing Siegfried or Mitsurugi :D

1a is a TERRIBLE move. only works online as ANY seasoned sc vet will be able to see it coming from a mile away and block/parry/jump over and attack. guess u could use it for people not getting up quick enough but still offline u have enough time to see it, stand up AND block low. also any1 worth a shit will NEVER block low randomly on asty because he has no dangerous lows, asty=mid monster. 4bk is horrible. slow start, slow to end, severly ss-able. 6k 2a+k leavs opp closer. 66ab-b gets gi'd.

1A is not that terrible. Use it to follow up another move with keeps pressure on mid to long range.

4B+K is indeed a really slow move. I'm finding it less and less useful as time goes on. However, if you find an opportunity where it might hit, it can pay off.

6K, 2A+K? I don't recall saying do that. The only time I ever use 2A+K is after 6K launches.

66A,B is GI'able if you actually go for the B on block. CH 66A,B is a monster and destroys sidesteppers.

4B+K rings out from miles away if you don't do the second part; if you do the second part you can get the A+G air grab as they bounce.

The titan bomb is a bit dangerous near the edge as you mention, but you can ring people out with it as they roll off your knee at the right distance.

I find tapping 4B to be the fastest move to interrupt people; 6K I tend to use when nearer the edge to get a ring out on the knock back.

6A,B is also decent but a bit risky since 1st part's a high.
