  • Really good graphics as id usually delivers, though does anyone know if this games has any physics? - wasnt any in enemy territory, that game could've been better if had some, though that wasnt very good game tbh

  • Rule of thumb: Tumbling car, or racing in general == Physics. Yes, enemy territory did, but it was dumbed down in order to create predictable behavior.

  • holy crap! pebble level texture detail, CG quality character animations, and running smooth across all platforms. UnrealEngine3 R.I.P.

  • nah i dont really think so. ue3 has better physics with dynamic water that can pour out n stuff!

  • The ease at which id tech 5 can develop for ALL platforms simultaneously without the need for different teams work on each different platform is the huge factor why this engine will overtake UE3, IMO.

  • naah tim sweeney doesnt really see whats special with megatextures, only that they make the terrain pretty low-res. also unreal engine 3 is extremely easy to develop games on. i read that ppl were able to put together a working game in 3 months!

  • Then you haven't listened and understood. Look at some of the tech explanation videos. The terrain is not low-res, to start with.

  • yes it is. you should do some math on it, u can easily see that the texels on the ground are way larger than those of other games.

  • Well, search here at YouTube for "new rage footage" and watch the first hit. I wouldn't call that ground low res. The resolution on everything (ground and other models) are completely up to the artists, which is the point of the technology. You can easily add as much detail as you want where you want it, without affecting the performance. Of course every square-inch won't be high detail, though.

  • yeah i have seen the interviews. but as of etqw the ground is pretty low res. but the character stuff in rage is high poly ang high res textures which is another thing

  • Not only the characters. ETQW is just the first generation megatextures. In Rage they are complete.

  • actually this vid is SO lowres, you couldn't make a difference between an orange and a tennis ball, indepentendent of this being idtech 1 or 5
