  • Why Don't More People Know Of Him instead that S.O.B Lil Wayne

  • I could watch him play for hours...just noodling around. Too much fun.

  • Looks like they tried to make a clone of his tele. They even colored it to make it look like the laquer is gone, just like on his real tele.

  • ive NEVER seen nor heard of this guitar, is it a gibson?!

  • @gromshit101 It's Valley Arts, who I believe are owned by Gibson.

  • @ibanezbloke they were. Not anymore

  • probs just that the vid is only 240p, but they all sounded the same to me :s

  • by stratocaster out of phase 0:29 you mean parallel?

  • Nashville's best!

  • i built a similar one 1 peice body musikraft neck and great hardware for just over 1000 when i compare it to my friends valley arts we both like mine better.

  • I guess the deal for the guys who don't want to buy the real deal is to build one from good parts. The three SDs will set you back about about $300 and then you just need a host guitar and a new three knob plate for say $100. S/H USA Tele would do the job at say $600-700. So $1000 for a similar beast. Buy the SDs from my luthier and he'll fit them for nothing - you're there. After all it's what Brent did to hid Tele originally.

  • @ChristopherDowning Spot on. A Korean/mexican Fender Lite Ash Special Edition (2004-2007) fits the specs and is very well built. Lite Ash body and birdseye maple neck. Can be bought 2nd hand for about 350 euros (europe). I'm Setting mine up like brent's.

  • Best cat around at the min, absolutely top drawer..

  • he s the best!

  • jeez how much a re one of these friggin things? im so sick of these guitars being over priced.

  • @InstrumentalofMe Hi, Don't waste time on buying the overpriced guitars. Go to Fervor Pickups.com and get great pickups to spruce and raise your game for a few extra dollars. See ya!

  • Truly great tone.

    Musician meets his best friend.

  • has any body got some sound when it is driven

and how does it sound with a plectrum?

    thx for answering my q.

  • @12dennistimmer Well, his sound comes a lot from hybrid picking, but he uses his fingers just as much, if not more, as the pick. If he's like most hybrid pickers, he has well maintained nails. My own technique, while hybrid and often country sounding, is completely different from his, so I sound much different. No one will sound exactly like Brent, because his sound comes from his actual hands.

  • tone is killer i have a tele but this thing is like amazing i dont know how he gets that sound :S

  • im from memphis

  • I used to have one of those Goldtone amps years ago but I sold it - one of the biggest regrets I ever made.

  • Brents my Hero! Every time we would learn an Alan Jackson or George Strait song he sure made me work out! Man he is a tasty player!

  • Nina Diaz from Girl in a Coma plays the hell out of that guitar.

  • Absolutely Incredible Guitar Playing. Your friends at 35GuitarPickupTones{dot}com

  • this guy is legend

  • SMOKING GUITARIST!!!!

    LOVE THIS GUY!

  • Discovered these at the Gibson showroom in Memphis. They are really nice beefy guitars

  • can you hear that? can you hear that sustain?

  • Really cool guitar. Brent Mason has actually recorded on my dad's CD. Cool stuff.

  • sweet

  • I have one of the old Trace Elliot Speed Twin tube amps from just before Gibson bought them out. Amazing amp ! 30 watts, Just right. A little heavy (in pounds I mean) but tone to burn.

  • I played one of those Gibson amps today for the first time. Holy glorious tone Batman! Anyone know what amp model that is?

  • Yeah, that's a Gibson Gold Tone. Originally, it was a Trace Elliott, but Gibson bought the rights to it. It's class A and (correct me if I am wrong) has 30 watts of unfettered tone. I don't think Ginson makes them any more, though. I own a single 12" model I use in a ABY setup with a Fender Blues Junior. Dirty and clean at the same time!

  • ERIALM

The best guitar I ever had exept from my 64 Strat.

  • this guy is sick!

  • thats the ugliest fucking thing iv seen but i bet its plays real good like!!!

  • This is the ultimate axe in my opinion. I have played for 40+ years, Pauls, Teles, Strats, Sears and Roebuck, you name it. I have never played one of these (sure could not afford one) but convinced it is just listening to it, it is sweet. Course Mason could make a Squire sound like a million dollars. Most of the time it's not the axe, but the picker.

  • Jim,Buy the guitar before you write a review.Only idiots rave about something they've never touched. Get another job and BUY ONE!

  • I love this guy but there's one thing about this video that bugs me.

He says that he couldn't afford much. But he has a talk with someone and commissions the designing and building of this guitar. I can guess that isn't cheap.

  • He meant back before he "made it".

    When he was starting out.

    The signature guitar is recent.

  • No I know. He had one of these built for him before he "made it" as well as before the signature model.

I guess that to have a guitar made for you is more expensive than a strat, tele, and Les Paul combined.

  • The guitar that this signature model is based on is a 1962 telecaster that he had modded. $200 in pickups and about $100 in shop time is sure a lot cheaper than buying a Tele, Les Paul and a Strat.

  • $ 2,750....

  • hmmm... more or less like Tommy Emmanuel´s Maton signature model...

    can´t afford them.

WAYYY too expensive for a young argentinian. ¬¬

  • I just played the prototype of his new signature.

    Its incredible.

  • I can fly an airplane , but this went way over my head .

  • ..the greatest in Nashville

  • Brent Mason == WIN

  • I own a Valley Arts. It is beautiful.

  • sweet!

  • i'd rather have a Crook!!

  • agreed

  • thet gibson amp sound sweet!

  • What a sound!!!!

  • I agree! Killer tone. Fender and Gibson rolled into one or one or the other. Great axe with a great sound, but of course the picker's fingers has a hell of lot to do with that! Brent rules.

  • That IS SOME KILLER TONE, right there!

  • Why is Gibson posting this video w/ a Fender artist? Have Gibson and Fender merged?

  • That will probably NEVER happen.

He is not a Fender artist, as you can see he is playing a Valley Arts guitar, a company that was purchased by Gibson some years ago.

  • It could happen, Exxon and Mobile merged to create a monopoly-esque monster to drive up our gas prices. Mergers are all the rage these days, so I can see Gibson and Fender merging one day, I hope they don't though, I hate mergers. Oh oops, I thought that was a Fender Telecaster, I should've read the title. Thanks for correcting me and for the info on Valley Arts guitars, didn't know anything about 'em prior to your reply.

  • You are welcome :-)

Yes, I hate mergers and monopoly in general too.

  • that is true but if you watch some other videos of brent, you will see the neck is not a valley arts neck...he switched it out for a fender tele neck

  • i don't know bout that dude, he may have but he may just have a modified fender tele. Kinda like the one he was talkin about earlier in the vid or he may have a fender tele brent mason signature guitar or something like that.

  • that would be so awesome if he had a fender mason signature!! but wouldnt there be a copyright thing with gibson and fender...cuz valley arts is Gibson made...so idk..he prob just replaced the valley arts neck with a Fender

  • Brent has a few of these but the valley arts is a replica of brents tele (wich is a 1968 fender telecaster) so he didnt switch out the neck the main one is a old fender painted with primer coat that is that grey color and has all those mods)

  • brent mason is the best country guitar player, stevie ray is the best blues guitar player, and eric clapton is the best rock guitar player

  • ummm Eric clapton is pretty much a basic blues guitarist too. and btw I think Jimi hendrix is a better ROCK and blues guitar player than Clapton

  • I love all kinds of music, especially heavy metal. RR is one of my favorites, but Brent is awesome. He kicks ass big time.

  • What a cool groove and ideas that he's playing. I just had to transcribe it. Check out my website for the tabs. It's also on Gibson's website, too.

  • Those Gibson amplifiers look good.

  • Wanna learn how to play this? I transcribed it for Valley Arts and it's available at my website.

  • PLEASE does anybody know how the song in the beginning (the fast blues) is called? sounds sooo grear

  • He's probably improvising.

  • If you'll go to Gibsons website and click the valley arts link you'll find this same video with the guitar tabs to the songs...if you play that is.

  • PLEASE does anybody know how the song in the beginning (the fast blues) is called? sounds sooo grear

  • Brent rocks. Period.

  • Damn thing has nice tone. No need for valley arts though, just take a fender tele and mod the hell out of it and you have the same thing. Well, maybe throw in a gibson goldtone to round it off.

  • that looks like a tele rip off

  • dude EVERY guitar is like that, ESP does Gibson, Gibson does fender, Yamaha does Fender, all guitar are pretty much modeled after fender or gibson.

  • @MoanaLindsey Yeah. if you look at Ibanez or any guitar company. it either has a Stratocaster-Jaguar look, or Les Paul-Flying V look haha

  • @MoanaLindsey except for gibson only copied fender once with the firebird but i guess it counts

  • i know but it looks like a nashville tele without the humbucker and costs 1500 more. it looks pretty kick ass though

  • except for the extra volume knob, and the coil tap, and the name... essentially a gibson.

  • Essentially a Gibson? The only thing Gibson about this guitar is the humbucker and the fact that Valley Arts is owned by Gibson. If you meant its essentially a Fender, I agree, since Valley Arts is copying Mason's 68 telecaster that Joe Glasser of Nashville modded by adding the extra pups and controls.

  • it only looks like a tele, its not one

wired completely differently, has phase switchs, diff pickups

valley arts makes bad ass tele copies though

  • Does it really sound as good as a Fender tele?

    Hard to say... Great vid!

    thx!

  • no doubt....this man can play a geetar....one of the best

  • if this was a promo for Valley Arts Guitars .. why was there a Gibson logo at the end ??

  • Gibson runs valley arts...and GE owns Gibson.

  • yea why else would he be running through a gibson amp. he hardly ever uses their amps. normally a twin matchless or genze benz.LOL

thats like playing a les paul in a fender amp commercial LOL.

  • That guy is such a badass guitar player

  • that "hick" will play you under the table.

  • HAHAHA ! too right bro :o). Incredible how many "musicians" on youtube need some serious ear training. I'm actually more of a fan of brent's jazz playing but damn listening to him and brad paisley play that tele country stuff is a headtrip! I'll never like it enough to pursue it as a style myself but brent transcends the style and just grabs your mind doesn't he ?

  • HECK YEA! POWER TO THE REDNECK PICKERS! theres nothin wrong with being country, especially if your awesome at it!

  • sounds like a hick

  • tight reel!

you may wanna check out BigYouUpdotcom for your reel, just uploaded my demo there too...

    greetz

  • Hi. sorry bout that.

I forgot about this comment. I read it again. boy do I sound like a smug jerk. argh. sorry.

If you click on my nick, I have about 30 vids of me playing it in various situations. There's only six in the world anyway. Hand made up and down. Start with the Sunshine of your love solo. : )

  • Although this is a good guitar, I think I will maybe get one, it will be a spare behind the by far superior David Wren tele that I have.

    do a search...

  • I FINALY GOT ONE! its awesome but somethin has gotta be done about the neck. im 14 and have big enough fingers for the neck to workout. i have a friend who can shave the neck for me thought. other than that its perfedt.

  • Brent Mason is not only a great guitarist, he is a nice guy. That makes Brent a very cool dude!!!! Get some Brent. The fan of all fans.

  • These are cool guitars. I'm not usually a fan of Duncan pickups but these are really smoking. At first the guitar is a little confusing but within about 10 minutes of playing with it it's remarkably easy to find new and fun tonal options. Nice chunky neck, light weight body, great for rock, blues or country and with the mini humbucker in the neck; jazz. What more to you want?

  • i totally agree with you. My valley arts lukather signature is the best guitar i ever played!

  • The old 80ths early 90th valley arts is the best guitars ever made!

  • the amp of course

  • the reason it doenst sound like his other is because he uses a fender twin reverb. NOT a gibson.valley arts is owned by gibson.gibson aint gonna let him use a fender in a gibson commercial. the gibson aint as clean as his normal fender or matchless tone

  • Well I guess its like the Steve Morse model, its made for HIM. It obviously gives Brent the tones HE wants, and he would know how to dial these sounds in a split second on this guitar. Anyboby femiliar with his work will know how everything he does sounds stunningly beautiful. He always knows exactly what tone to use for any part. He is not just A man, he is THE man on guitar in my opinion.

  • i want one SOOOOO bad!

  • Yea, it isn't for everyone i guess. A lot of his "signature sound" stuff is the bridge pickup with just a little bit of the middle blended in.

  • The setup on that guitar allows you to blend the middle pickup in gradually for more range of sounds

  • what an idiot

  • a volume pot gives you the possibility to blend it half way in, instead of having to choose;) thats why he chose it i guess

  • So back = bridge and front = neck?

  • Yes it does...a Tele on STEROIDS...and a LOT more!!! UPS should have my Brent Mason Sig. Model here in about a week and I can't WAIT!!!

  • Brent Mason is the best guitarist ever!

    COOL Guitar!

  • he looks like EVHs country bumpkin brother

  • well...I live in Louisiana! But since I am studying Optometry and he's at about the age for that, it was an incorrect assumption...my bad. He's still a monster! I jammed with Guthrie Trappe, who is pretty hot on that tele too.

  • I guess Brent's at Presbyopic age now. Never saw him with glasses before.

  • Then you haven't seen much of him. He's wore glasses for years except for on tv appearances.

  • I love the les paul I mean who doesn't?
