  • Hi, im new to linux and i wanna install Xbmc but i get this error:

    oo@ubuntu:~$ sudo add-apt-repository paa:team-xbmc

    Error: 'paa:team-xbmc' invalid

    oo@ubuntu:~$

    -------------------------

    What to do?

  • @NizonRox Hi, it's PPA, not PAA.

  • i followed your install how come the interface is different and i can't install plugins and tv channels.

  • @dhante0334 Can you provide some more details of your problem? It is difficult to understand exactly what the problem is from your comment.

  • @TechMadeEasyUK sorry forget about my first question i have figured it out, my main problem is installing svn repo, i extracted it where it supposed to be but when i open xbmc then videos i don't have video plugins. hope you can help me. thanks

  • @dhante0334 You shouldn't need to install SVN Repo, it's now part of the XBMC 10.1 build. Look under "Add-ons" for any of the menu options and you should see the additional plugins.

  • @TechMadeEasyUK already updated xbmc but somehow svn is not showing under add ons, plus pseudotv gives an error message, sorry it seems i have a lot of problem with xbmc, thank you for

    answering my questions.

  • further to my querry, may I point out, since I am using atom 230 processor, it became slow to tackle the XBMC without prior modification to NVIDIA ion settings. Now it boots with slow XBMC. Help!

  • First video which is so useful.finally British accent.

After following step by step guide,my xbmc is slower than slow.mouse does not respond and arrows are very slow to respond.any ideas to normalise? I am using acer aspire.

Also no matter what the edges of xbmc is beyond the screen of tele.tried reducing and adjusting tv format, doesn't help.

    Suggest please!

  • I just downloaded 11.04 and this does not work

  • @mamibg87 there seems to be an issue with 11.04, the way I got around it was to install 10.10, install xbmc, then upgrade to 11.04

  • Does any1 have a solution to this problem? -

Depends: xbmc-data but it is not going to be installed

Depends: xbmc-skin-confluence but it is not going to be installed

  • When I do "sudo add-apt-repository ppa:team-xbmc" and then "sudo apt-get update", my Ubuntu 11.04 installation can't fetch the update from the ppa. help? plz?

  • @Swift202008 There known issues at the moment with Ubuntu 11.04. If you only use your PC for XBMC then it might be an idea to use Ubuntu 10.04LTS instead, for the time being.

  • I'm getting an error:

    following packages have unmet dependencies:

xbmc: depends: xbmc-data (= 2:10.1~ppal~lucid) but it is not going to be installed

depends : xbmc-skin-confluence (= 2:10.1~ppal~lucid) but it is not going to be installed

    E: Broken packages..

    any thoughts?

  • @claypipkin Are you installing on the latest version of Ubuntu (11.04)?

  • @TechMadeEasyUK

I get the same error message to, I am trying on ubuntu 11.04

  • @TechMadeEasyUK

*Found the solution, apperently you have to edit the xbmc ppa distribution.

Go to the package manger. Click Settings - Repositories. Under other software, highlight the xbmc ppa and click edit. for the distribution, change it to maverick. Refresh and you can install :p

  • @IKKE0930 That's great news! I had the same problem with Boxee (based on XBMC) with 11.04. Hopefully both programs will be updated soon! The good news is that if you upgrade to 11.04 from 10.10 then the applications work fine.

  • @IKKE0930 Awesome! thank you so much! Worked perfectly once i changed the distribution-

  • Once you've got it rebooting into XBMC do you get back to ubuntu by shutting down in XBMC and restarting?

  • @DynamicVentures If you select "Restart" then the PC will restart into XBMC, you have to select "Exit" from the XBMC menu and then change your session back to GNOME at the login screen, in the pop-up menu where you'd previously selected XBMC.

  • Very helpful, sir. Thanks a million!

  • Does anyone know how to install this on mint10kde4.6??? ive tried all sorts of ways and no go... any help would be great!!!

  • @pegasusIndustries it should work the same way. if not just download the .deb file from their website

  • THANK YOU!!!!

  • @giosuesugar You're welcome

  • thankyou so much :)
