Follow one of the 4 recognised Madhabs and this is considered Ahli Sunna according to the Sharia. Keep it simple and stick to what's recognised. The rest can get too confusing. 4 madhabs are all corrects according to sharia so my advice is to stick with what's known and lasted for centuries.

The terms Salafi, Ahle Hadith, Wahabi are only about 100 years old. If you go back in history then there is only Ahle Sunnah wal Jamaah as Sawad-e-Azam (the biggest Jamaah)

The Ijma'a of the Ummah has been for centuries that if you follow one of the four Madhab only then you are true Ahle Sunnah Wal Jama'at. If you don't follow any one of the four guided Imams then you are probably following your own Nafs, and by following one of the four guided Imams you are actually following Quran & Sunnah.

Yes, we're only called Muslim but when talking about specific diffrentiation - especially from innovating sufis who call themselves "Sunnis" - I say Salafi. And although people may criticize the salafi for being extreme, militant or whatever you have to understand that there're many groups of salafi today, good and bad ones..supposedly.

Erm the "good" version or as I intend to refer towards then it's the predecessors - the first 3 generations of Sahaba.

... the Sahaaba would often call to one another by saying 'Yaa Ahlal Hadeeth' 'Oh People of Hadeeth', so on and so forth. Simply by reading the books of the Salaf, we would understand that point, inshaa Allaah.

The matter gets even clearer when we look at the later generations from the Salaf, i.e. the later portion of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th century. Which would include the 4 Imams and all the other great Imams of the Salaf.

Whether we say Atharee, Salafee, Ahlul Hadeeth, Sunni, etc. ....

Although I see his point, baarakaAllaahu feekum, but his argument is based on a mistake and the classic 'Allah called you Muslims'.

Like what he said regarding the fact that there were hypocrites in the time of the Prophet (sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) but the Sahaaba didn't change their names. Well, the Sahaaba didn't know who the Hypocrites were, and the hypocrites weren't calling to hypocrisy either. So that argument doesn't really stand the litmus test.
