He's way more of a true country artist than 99% of the "country" on the radio today. At least to me, his punk and metal roots are a breath of fresh air and make what he plays that much more interesting. He got a lot of people, myself included, to fall in love with country music after a primarily metal and punk rock background. Just my opinion.
