@ADHITI I'm not too sure what could be going wrong. If you're a tight knitter, sometimes the stitches can creep from back to front on the needles, so maybe one of them is doing that and making it look like there are 4 sts.
You should be
1. Knitting 1 st, leaving it on the needle, then
2. knitting through the back of the same st, still leaving everything on the needle, then
3. knitting through the front (again), then slipping the 3 sts off.
I'm working on the Rogue Hoodie pattern, its my first attempt at celtic insets and wasn't sure how to do the turn 1 stitch into 3. This is going to help a lot - thank you!
@nunquamamittolupus I think the Rogue Hoodie was the reason I posted this video to begin with - a friend online was making it. I *still* haven't knit that sweater. I keep meaning to, honest.
i am trying to follow this exact instruction but for some reason instead of ending up with 3 stitches i am ending up with 4!!! What am i doing wrong?

Thank you for posting this. I'm a beginning knitter with a poor memory, and this is a VERY intimidating stitch if you're just looking at the written.

@somecooldude777 It was winter and I hadn't been drinking enough water. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
