Wow ! you Australians really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for cultural identity, to make such a song and dance literally, over a lump of freakin sandstone. Daft song.
The Spirit in me Respects the Spirit in you Uluru. If I was ever lucky enough to be stood beside Uluru I would be Truly Greatful. That would be Amazing!.I would give you a big hug:)) Lets share eturnal LoVe & Light for Gaia here.Forgiveness is the key.Climbers do not understand. It is not about Ownership OR who climbs OR Dollas Paid.! You did not buy the rock! Ulura is a BEAUTIFUL GIFT of Creation!! We shoud treat it as such! LoVe Creation as it LoVes Us! Be the change you want to see in the world.
- Climbing Uluru isn’t really illegal, but it’s discrimination to the local aboriginal people, because Uluru is a sacred area. The aboriginals believe a lot in spirits. They believe that, when you die your spirit will live on inside of Uluru. So when you climb Uluru, you actually step on the old aboriginal ancestors.
But, today it’s a great opportunity to get tourism, a lot are climbing the rock and don’t think of the old spiritual stories that lie buried in this sacred area.
@Trunedk I climbed Uluru in 2005. Its not really that sacred to the Aborigines anymore. I remember having to make a donation to climb so its no more sacred than the 10 or 5 dollars I had to pay at the time. If the aborigines did not want anyone to climb it then nobody would be allowed because Australia recognise that it belongs to them and they have the say. I can't understand how in any way climbing the rock can be classed as discrimination.
I really enjoyed your video and song. I visted Australia in August '06 and had an amazing time visting Uluru. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience for me. Though I hope to go to Austalia again...there's so much more of that fabulous country I want to explore that I know I won't be going back to Uluru.
Well - i won´t go that far at this peaceful spot. the rock itself does the job sometimes (look at the memorials about killed people at the start of this crazy trail)
it's an insult to the original people there to climb it, they don't climb it as it's seen as sacred to them, it would be like them rocking up at say jesus (if ya believe he even existed) grave (if he existed he certainly had one) and climbing all over it, because they find it to be a fun thing to do.
it's the same kind of thing. people are guests (although uninvited) there, they should atleast show some respect
Absolutely - by the way - i visited jesus grave church in jerusalem many years ago. expecting sacred ground i was invited by a "priest" to the most holy place in the middle. There he was trying to sell me a cross "made from the original wood of the cross they hang up jesus on".
Jesus himself would have thrown those people out of the "temple"...still most of us didn´t get the deeper messages, no difference if its jesus, aboriginal, buddhist...
if jesus came back (not that he could) he would be horrified to see crucifixes, it would be like saddam hussein coming back to find all his supporters have little hang nooses on neck laces
Comments about not climbing Ayers Rock are absolute rubbish! This rumour was started by lefty bureaucrats, not aborigines! It was National Park Rangers that came up with the idea of not climbing the rock so they would not have to rescue people from getting stuck on top. The poor Aborigines are just scapegoats in a lazy whitefella manipulated world. There is nothing sacrilegious in climbing Ayers Rock. In fact Aborigines call the climbers Minga which means "Ants" .....they think its very funny!
