  • Wheres the first second?

  • cos i got a name and a number... wow ! Epic !

wish you all the best !

takes me back ... Epic just Epic !

  • @forzamicha46 Mmmm... epic would be Supper's Ready...

  • @kirklott

Agree :) seconds out the Favourite Live version ... pure !

  • Phil voice was really at its peak during this time

  • this is one of my favorites from phil. a great musician, artist and singer. in the 80's he had so many great songs. music today wishes it could be this good... it's all about the execution of delivery and attitude. listen close. ;)

  • IT IS ABOUT A HIT MAN,,KEEP IT SIMPLE GUYS

  • Genesis kicks ass, Phil Collins is the man!!

  • Here is Wikipedia's thing about this song, to clear up all the arguments about the meaning of this song:

"The lyrics, written by guitarist–bassist Mike Rutherford, tell the story of a private investigator chasing down his subject.[1] The basic theme of the refrain is that the protagonist has a name and a number, and from that will home in on his target."

Here it is, now please stop arguing about what song means and enjoy it

  • exactly, that's what I've been saying all of the time... thank you ;)

  • @nik0la007 The saddest part? Most of these feral trollers wont even notice the message from you or from the man/woman who bothered to do the research. Instead, they will simply continue with their childish banter. I don't get it.

  • you're right, but who cares??? it's important for me that I know the truth, and few people who will realise what we're saying ;)

  • @knoxunflower1 I am a guy, just to let you know. At least we enjoy the song.

  • @knoxunflower1 FERAL TROLLERS?? That's a great description LOL!!!

  • @Ihaterudecomments Thank you!!! That debate was about as silly as "In the Air Tonight" being about Phil watching a friend drown as a child and another kid with them not helping save him. lol

  • @spyderj1999 always trust the power of wikipedia...lol

  • @spyderj1999 Want me to look that one up?

  • @spyderj1999 in the air tonight, according to wikipedia:

Collins wrote this about the anger he felt after divorcing his first wife Andrea in 1979. He explained on a BBC Radio 2 documentary in 1997 that he took a couple of years out of Genesis due to his devastation.

  • or about a hitman ghosting a PI or a PI tracking a hitman. Who cares? Still badass.. I think it's just about a girl who did him dirty....

  • cool song

  • what hpen ( forgot hrr name ' from tke oleepeq gams whith 4 gold ) she gave them back ! way ? how now her name by fhnce thanks !!!

  • what hpen ( forgot hrr name ' from tke oleepeq gams whith 4 gold ) she gave them back ! way ?

  • the ending of this song is the beginning of jacksons beat it, it misses 1 kick before the echoed snare

  • Phil Collins is badass!

  • what a great shoot out song!

  • This takes me back to 3 hours ago when I got the album this song is on. This will always be awesome.

  • One of the best ever!!!!! Phill.

  • This song is about a hitman, and anyone who doesn't agree is a complete moron.

  • From Wikipedia....

The song was used as the theme song for the short-lived 1985 ABC TV series The Insiders.

  • this song is not about a hitman, it is totally about hunting down a cheating wife and her boy toy........ ;)

  • I believe it was written for miami vice, about the same time as " I can feel it"

  • I think this is one of the best songs they ever made. Truly awesome.

  • another phil collins classic

  • Hit man or not........who cares ! Great song ,period.

  • I got a turtle neck!

  • What TV show was this theme from?

It used to come on ABC.

There was this guy with the gerry-curls and a camera who looked like the Eriq La Salle from E.R.

And he was with two other people that do a freelance reporting agency/Private Eye.

It was back in the mid to late 80s.

  • @kd4adv The Insiders. The Eriq La Salle lookin Dude was actually a dancer in the "Beat It" video.

  • @kurt52073 i remember this all too well been looking for torrent cast was nicholas campbell (davinci on cbs) and stoney jackson (the jerri curl dude) who late sis black jack savage (tv disney movie Stoney was the ghost black jack ) Black jack also had daniel hughs kelly from hardcastle and mccormick, Insiders's boss was gail strictland they owned a bar / niteclub part time Pardon my spelling i knwo it sucks LOL

  • "Bang bang bang, down you go, it's just a job I do."

"Keep running, city to city, even if you're innocent, you can cause too much embarassment."

"I'm coming up hard on you, I'm hoping that my aim is true."

It's not about a detective taking photographs. It could not be any more plainly about a hitman.

  • @WindupAtheist I couldn't agree more. Everyone says I'm nuts thinkin that. But with lyrics like "Cause someone put the word on you. I hope my aim is true." How is that anything but a hitman?

  • I agree, def about a hit man, awesome song that never gets old!!

  • @DanzigTube and other guys, are you blind ???? the song is about a private investigator chasing down his subject......

  • @nik0la007

    Hrmm, could be that too

  • @DanzigTube believe me :)

  • @nik0la007

Bang, bang, bang & down you go is talking about a P.I. rather than a hit man? Sure sounds like shooting someone down to me unless their talking about sexually banging someone down. Which would be awesome.

  • @nik0la007 It's about a guy who was hired to kill someone. not a PI. Think about the clues in the lyrics. I actually like to think it's about the Ice Man. but that's probably a little specific. "Bang Bang Bang, Down you go" "I hope my aim is true" "someone put the word on you" "Even if you're innocent, you've caused too much embarrassment" Sounds like a family wants someone dead.

  • @DanzigTube excelente cancion!!!!mexico,,,

  • @nik0la007 And the PI's target is a hitman. So it's technically about both.

  • @nik0la007 Patrick Bateman himself claims he's not sure what the song's about, so how can anyone be? :P

  • @nik0la007 But: "a bang-bang-bang, and down you go" sounds more like a hitman to me, IMO... Private investigators don't kill people (well except in self-defense, I suppose). "You can never never never go home alone" - It sounds a hell of a lot more menacing than a mere gumshoe tracking someone down...

  • @nik0la007

I think you mean to say "are you deaf???"

This is a song afterall. Need ears not eyes to appreciate.

  • don't be a smart ass, I meant what I wrote... "blind" because I've already explained the meaning, in TEXT ;)

  • wow, its amazing how rock can change you, especially Classic, im more of the younger type, and this song is great, one of the greatest actually, thumbs up if if you love this song

  • This song makes me smile from ear to ear.

  • Am I the only one that thinks this song is about a hitman?

  • hahaha I thought it was a policeman, but it's about some detective... I was almost right :)

  • @tabman69z No, I agree - it's about a hit man. My band is doing this song, I'm diggin' it, the guitar part is fun to play.

  • it's not about the hitman :)

  • well i know i gotta go back 2 work cause.i I GOT A JOB 2 DO!

  • another one for you mr chandler.....genises funk.....
