@EpiphoneArchtopLover he is showing how tuff the taget is, they arrows do go pretty deep but not all the way thru at a couple ft, so you know for sure they will no passthru at 20+ yds!!! kinna obvious man
@SoccerBalbus...get some arrows ..also a release aid ...have a few shots see if you enjoy the sport?...then think about an update maybe?...cheers mick
@heathtardpoop I have a darton 30mx compound bow, think its from the 80's i dont know much about bow's is it a good one? is it worth keeping? what is it worth?
I just have a suggestion comment. You being close does kind of affect the target stopping ability. Arrows aren't really all that lethal closer than 10 yards. When an arrow comes off the bow, it's bending and flexing, it doesn't even really straighten out and hit full velocity until 10-15 yards, so the closer you are, the slower you arrow will be traveling when it hits the foam.
Your bow creaks really loud, you might want to get some dampeners or fix that before you let a deer know it's coming.
hmmm i guess if you wana play chicken at 15 yards ...i could take a quick shot at you ..... i will wear ear muffs so i cant here the bow ... and i wont need a practice target either ...
haha Look at all the bow hunting accidents at under 10 yards. Arrow never penetrated past 3 inches. One guy got shot in the back of the skull from 14 yards away, broadhead stopped at the bone.
Secondly, for your bow, I hope the deer are wearing ear muffs so they don't HEAR your bow. It doesn't matter if you HEAR it.
I think you do need a practice target, from 5 feet, you missed your second shot.
But, good luck this season with your rickety creaky bow. Hope you get a deaf deer.
Oh, and also, the reason HEAR is in all caps, is because you spelled it wrong. HERE is like come here, HEAR is what the deer will be doing when you're in the woods...
My first post was a suggestion, not to be a dick or rude, you're the one that came out of left field with the attitude, but thank you for your response in being a dick about it.
Your practice target would prove much more effective if you shot it from 20 yards. Just making a suggestion.
@obtree ...hi mate.. some of these comments are good for a giggle ..
i guess its a social network sight so they r free to comment .. i dont edit there crazy outlooks .. i keep using the eye ..word so i am guilty of trying to show my egotistical viewpoint ?
anyways .. sometimes makes one wonder why bother ?.. but from the comments i think some guys got some good from this ?... cheers and beers mick
Wow foam works really well. Im gonna have to get some rather than buying a dumb $90 block target when this can work just as well. I use fieldpoints so if broadheads wont go through ill be good with fieldpoints for sure.
70 pound at full poundage as you see it here ....from memory thats 10 layers ..also if you get a bit off ahole starting to develope .. you can reverse the box lids upside down etc ... gives you a bit more use from them .. we use supremes for our broadhead hunting ... they are bullet proof .. and dont affect arrow flight ...
the guy that desighned them put some of the weight behind the tip.. its the closest thing to shooting a target point you can buy
also forgot to mention ...you can remove or add layers ...box lids to suit your bows poundage ... 60 pound might be 8 lids ..and you just get the arrow protruding without shoot throughs ..which reck your arrow flights >.. cheers mick
why does almost everybody on you tube think they have to be an asshole this man is trying to save people money and you have to criticize him so what if hes close he is trying to give an example and you and you have to bash his equipment its probably better than yours maybe thats why you bash i dont know but to ALL OF YOU WHO DO ! GROW THE FUCK UP...
dude update your set, with those carbon shaft broadheads i could most likely shoot a 3inch wide and 6inch deep penetration hole in your brick on your house, did you nock your bow down to 15lbs ?????? not even penetrating the foam from half a foot...dude.
yep hi mate ... have another look ...just as you suggest carbon ... also there is about 12 layers of foam inside the box ..(justbox lids )..../ they are not to tightly packed ... they work like vibrating baffles
P.S.its a 70 pound bowtech old glory .. at full poundage .. shooting beaman carbon .. cheers ... good cheap replaceable target
i shoot a bowtech extreme vft , 333 fps , i wont be getting any pse junk any time soon . the deer will never notice its 13 fps slower than the pse x force lol . nice cheap target idea . by the way , bowtechs black knight is rated at 350 fps ibo. the apa black mamba is rated at 356 fps , take that and like it x force !
i just bought me a 08 marquis couple months ago. i never heard anything about bowtech but they have some of the best bows out now. mine doesnt shoot near as fast as yours be nice tho.
@isofaster my magnus stinger doesnt give a crap bout no joketech or apa crapa mama boy bow its home is where the heart is where my ole pse sends it to every time and it dont cost no 800 or 900 dollars either half the boys w/ those fancy bows buy it to hide the fact that they couldnt hit the broadside of the barn if they was standing in front of it! faster and heavier poundage will never take the place of patience and shot placement!
i've got a rinehart 18-1 target... they're great targets. really light (but stay in place), extremely easy arrow removal, 18 different sides to shoot at, and the best part... if u can wear it out with in a year using anything (broad heads, expendables, ANYTHING) the company will replace it. if u can find one BUY IT!!! but also a great way to make a field tip target is a pink Styrofoam strip cut into four and stuck together... works great. and really great vid.
hmmm i think i woulda gone almost through that iv shot the same stuff before and it went right through i was like shit (trying to find the bastard) know any good places in qld (round brisbany area) to go hunting :P
No actually I shoot a Reflex (same as Hoyt).. Don't care for PSE much, maybe the X-force. Best thing to do is have a bag target for field tips b/c they last forever and super easy arrow removal, then have a separate broad head target like the yellow jacket. For field points only, a bag target will last forever.
my last bow was a reflex bighorn about 80pound it was a mighty bow but have now updated! i luv the parallel limb designs off the new bows and am sort off sold on twin cam bows
hi yes you are right but it is better then the bag we use for our field tips this may help as i have seen people use sand bags cardboard all sorts off stuff p.s do you shoot a p.s.e ? we are in australia and myself and son josh shoot bowtech (tribute ,old glory)we love american bows!
Cool, you can hit a 20 inch target from 5 yards. want a medal?

if anything point blank must be one of the most difficult ranges to be consistent because of the arrow bending when you shot
