  • whats the song at 2:13! please help!

  • I love fingering my guitar :)

  • This is a good little lesson snippet. I've always loved fingerstyle guitar, and the idea that you could just take your guitar anywhere (let's say street corner busking) and play without accompaniment is very appealing, but I also love electric guitar, and the knowledge of advanced chord voicing in fingerstyle is intimidating. I'll have to look into this series more deeply, though.

  • you must be expert in scratching your butt

  • dust in the wind?

  • check out my website fingerstyleguitaronline com

  • very epic grandpa

  • W.O.W. Lol I always wondered what pattern made that second lot. Imma go practice now.

  • Im great at cotton picking, dose that count?

  • tropp

o bravo molto bello! Complimenti davvero

  • did you know only 1 in every 1,000 gutiar players can fingerpick Thumbs up if you can do it :)

  • @chadro85 are you serious?? I thought it was a common thing!

  • @chadro85 Thats a questionable statistic fallacy. Where's the source?

  • @ReassuringSmile my guitar teacher. he has 30+ years of teaching guitar. and played since he was 4 so i have good trust in him

  • @chadro85 Yeah i trust my guitar teacher too, but hes not a statistics professor. Therefore I trust him in guitar advice, not numbers thrown out

  • @ReassuringSmile so what. my gutiar teacher could know more than yours. or he could of got it from a website. or some other source

  • @chadro85 "so what"? thats exactly what i'm taling about... susceptibility. One person hears what is open to popular opinion and accepts it then it passes on to another, this is how ideas get passed around. I assume you never attended college yet or not old enough..

  • @ReassuringSmile your opinion is just as good as mine (and by the way i'm a sophmore in high school and yes i plan to go to college. usu)

  • @chadro85 bollocks. I highly doubt that.

  • @juniwilliams and why do you highly doubt that?

  • @chadro85 because finger playing is merely a technique. Some people are better than others, but thats really it. Many people finger pick, especially people trained classically. Even in other musical instruments closely related to the guitar, such as bandura, finger picking is the way forward. Its very common, and whoever spat out such numbers was trying to convince gullible people like you of its perceived exclusivity.

  • @juniwilliams well you have some good points in there but, there is over 8 billion people in the world. so i think it sound fairly legit. (also besides maybe finger picking is just "very common" where you live. around where i live its very rare. most people just play cords)

  • @chadro85 That inspires me even more.

  • @chadro85 It's because they don't practice it.

  • @jgvet08 yeah proabaly

  • @chadro85 whered you hear that?

  • @GuitarLord3000 a genius guitar teacher.

  • @chadro85 martyzsongs?

  • @chadro85 do you know who martyzsongs is? a genius guitar teacher whos even in the suggestions for this video.

  • @GuitarLord3000 no hes not the one i'm thinking of

  • @chadro85 Did you know 70% of statistics are made up on the spot? Like the one i just made up now?

  • @theneenjah lol

  • this is very good via Am

  • lol this is my first finger style exercise

  • you look like jon voight

  • @lozzerooney Jon Voight? Dude, what do you do before you watch YouTube, get really friggin high? LoL Just kiddin'.

  • what was that song that he player near the end?

  • @LiivingMyLife you know what song it is ?

  • I'm not a bigginer guitar player but I am just starting Finger Picking. Thanks for the Lesson.

  • @tomstrat1 same with me im having a hard time with teh fingerstyle

  • 2:13 to 2:24 is the best part ^^

  • Thank you,master :)

  • this was good but i need notes i dont know how to play at home

  • half lower on semitone, not in the pitch dumb asshole jipidibipity

  • Good lesson!! Check out my page if you're looking for some more examples of acoustic finger picking. If you're not, then don't.

  • finally, an expertvillage video which is not completely being trolled :)

  • See, I pluck all the strings with my thumb and this is pretty hard to get used to :/

Expert village has a video on everything WTF lol

  • All expert village employees are robots being held there against there will. That's how you explain 138k videos lol

  • Maybe you can get a little inspiration from my new video. I was sick and couldn't sing, so I sat on the sofa and played a little guitar, only finger picking.

  • Well, i play ONLY fingerstyle. Why there's no "how to play with a pick" lessons?)

  • It's used in marry me by train and dust in the wind by kansas

  • in fingerstyle playing do u need to hit the nails or the fleshy tips of ur fingers? which of the two?

  • @Xen0r24 it's really a matter of preference.. using your nail is best for the bass/root notes, typically on ur E and A strings,, sometimes D string as well.. but using your fingertips as opposed to the nails is best being quicker and making the notes seem softer and more melodic.. ive been playing guitar for 5 years, and this style is slightly new to me, but as far as i know,, just play what you play with whatever sounds best to you; nails or tips

  • @Xen0r24 your nails will give a brighter sound, and it more easy to "hit" the right string!

With your flesh you can miss notes/strings easely, so grow those nails, but dont overdo it...

  • I can't see your video. I don't know what is wrong with mine set up.

  • 2:13 - 2:20

    how about the chords

  • The song at the end is 'Helplessly Hoping' by Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

  • whats the name of the song wich is on the end of the video???

  • man you are great on teaching and playing lol XD !

  • This is the same pattern used in the song "Dust in the Wind", however is it the most efficient way to play it, using the thumb for 2 strings? I can't manage to play it fast... I would appreciate some help in this matter!! thx!

  • @EmmanuelleGA I have been playing a long time, and I would yes. The thumb is actually really fast, and there is a note in between the two thumb notes. It's hard for me to make up a general rule about it. It's just whatever feels right at the time. And for this piece, he's doing it how I would do it.

  • @maynardr6 My mistake, the pattern for "Dust in the wind" it's not exactly that one. It's 6,3 - 5 - 4 - 6 - 3. In other words, there isn't an in between note. So I guess it would be more efficient using the thumb for the sixth string only... Anyway, I need to get some more practice :P thank you very much!!!!

  • does someone knows the chords or something, and is willing to tell me?

  • what is the name of song in the beginning ?? answer

  • would help a bit more if he told us the chords except Amin

  • learn "kansas-dust in the wind" to practice the second plucking pattern -> watch?v=NggF9RzA8p0&feature=related

  • How do u play the riff at the very beginning of the video right before he introduces himself, i can't see the chords cause the Expert Village logo is in the way....

  • guitarists! pls check my video

  • sux enormous ballz

  • 213-2:20 sounds like dust in the wind

  • This was actually one of the better lessons from expert village.

  • whats the name of the song he plays?

  • @soleimdown the song is leader of the band by dan fogelberg

  • try guitarmanual.typepad.com for beginning guitar guide

  • ponganle subtitulos culeroos !!!

    *

  • @TheAstraltone Los podes activar vos pelotuzado atomico la reputisima madre que te pario

  • I so wish there was a way to block "Expert Village" videos from my youtube searches. Their videos are intensely rubbish!

  • That sounds like the song He's Alive by Don Francisco.

  • why cant he just say pointer and middle finger, im obviously watching this because i dont know what im doing lol

  • He has tuned his guitar a half-step LOWER in pitch on all strings. Compare when you play your A minor in the 1st position. Thumbs up this to help make this tutorial smoother...

  • @jipidibipity addendum: it is STANDARD tuning I refer to.

  • @jipidibipity VERY TRUE STATEMENT. PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE PITCH AND TUNING IF YOUR STILL LEARNING.

  • @jipidibipity thanks for confirming this man.. i tried to re tune hell of times n everytime feels am right lol..

cant believe he is teaching us without tuning properly..!

  • @jipidibipity

I think your right but ain't it called semitone? and The lower A is called A flat OR G sharp .

  • Comment removed

  • So, anyone know what that "um I dont know" song was?

  • @braglish he said 'I don't know' because he could hear more than three songs all at once. Because I can allow my brain to let in more than one tune when hearing this right-hand technique used well.

Two of the songs I hear are "Leader of the Band" and "Helplessly Hoping". But thats just me :)

  • 138k videos wtf?

  • @paparhsIV allmost 139k :)

  • @paparhsIV same reaction..wtf

  • @paparhsIV What you on about?

  • @therockingbitch Nay problem!

  • Thanks :) this was nice.

  • @therockingbitch Absolutely, you can play it any way you want. A pick will give a way more distinctive tone to an acoustic but keep in mind, the strings are heavier and are under greater tension so you need a bit more, I don't know, kick behind it.

  • i know i cant!

  • fuck expert village it sucks my dick!

  • @lordofd95824 It seems u can't do that just like on video.

  • erm, you cheated!! you hitted the top string when you played the song!!

  • same fingerstyle as in dust in the wind. To name out an example.

  • NICE FOR BEGINING

  • NICEEEEEEEEEEE

  • he has an 80-s Porn-stache

  • Do you use your pinky at all??

  • @uhhhh45 No, you usually use your picky as support as it gives you more control. Place it against the pick guard while you use your other fingers to pick. Trust me, you will be more accurate

  • @MrFaulconbridge That's what I do... but I was told it was improper technique. It helps me fingerpick faster, though, and I don't care if it's improper :)

  • great lesson

  • he put me to sleep foreals

  • do u need long nails?:o

  • hy i just what o say thx for lesson if you can teel me the cords of the las song pls thx :D

  • Thanks. Still trying to get my head round travis picking. Am I right in saying only the second part is travis? Great lesson tho. Rob UK

  • to much talk

  • this is just like watcin "bet u cant play this"

    especially d ending

  • inexpertevillage why have ypou failed me?

  • What tuning is this?

  • @IkkeBareAnders Standard Tuning..

  • Comment removed

  • I think it is an A-flat minor guitar chord he starts out in. You have to tune your guitar to 'standard' 1st, then tune all 6 strings flat one fret. (one half-step lower). Then when I form an "A minor" I will sound like his "A minor" and the rest of his 1st position left-hand fingering...

  • Why put the text in the middle of the screen?

  • @ebor8402 You must change your setting on caption features.

  • at 2:14 and the rest was so damn pretty.

  • Só porque você impediu a visibilidade deste vídeo, não vou comprar sua parada.

  • fuck you crazy bastard

  • OK tnx for the TEXT IN MIDDLE of the srceen.............

  • strumming is way easier ?!?

  • "I can hear you breathe"? or "Helplessly Hoping"? Which one is it? C'mon man! I'm in a moral dilemma here!

  • Comment removed

  • what's the song at 2:21 to 2:26

  • i prefer plucking.. i can't easily learn strumming.. that's why i don't usually get in bands...

  • @xXxthundereyexXx There's a different strum for every song. Keep that in mind, and you'll pick up strumming pretty quickly.

  • @Hilltopperpete tnx for the tip!!..

  • @Hilltopperpete lol.. thank you very much!!.. I learned 2 strumming songs!!.. thank you 4 the tip!!.. :)

  • brad you're not our favorite child
