Man are you using your toe on hi-hat foot to get enough control to get three hits on 4and1, when I lift entire foot I can't get a clean three strokes on hi-hat?

always keep your toes in touch with the foot board. if they're not in touch with the pedal, you can"t have full control.
leave the toes in place and move the heel up and down. after a while it will feel natural. hope this helps!
