I was living in Greenland at the time - and this was a monster hit. For some strange reason they never made it to Greenland to do a concert. It would have been a great event. Still to this day I love the music.
I want to make a vid but do not speak that language (I'm Metis) and was wondering for those who speak it if you could provide me with key words in the song beyond "Our People". Send 2 me via my message box and include both the native language followed by the English intrepretation. If possible include a slash / or -. Much thanks and I love this beat and this song. It's kinda like the German version of 99 Luft ballons. Ya just got 2 love it
@G3VTxx fait des recherche et apprend lalangue !! elle es descriptive donc elle fit avec nImportequi mais tous dépend de ton passé car ces un language du coeur comme le québecoi ( ces pas du françai meton ) =P
I remember seeing these guys in Vancouver; in front of 7500 crazy natives city ones at that.. They should do one more tour. They still get played alot in our country Secwepemc.
KASHTIN EN CONCERT À MALIOTENAM LE 7 AOÛT PROCHAIN AU FESTIVAL INNU NIKAMU! / KASHTIN IN CONCERT AT INNU NIKAMU FESTIVAL IN MANI-UTENAM THIS AUGUST 7 2010!
My late husband had coffee with this guy in Inuvik for the the arts festival there and he got to talking with this guy and he said "I hear Kashtin will be performing tonight and I hear they're great", and the guy said I'll see you there. Turns out it was one of the performers.
Kashtin was also my first concert,i was 11 years old & my mom got 2 free last minute tickets from a co-worker, we rushed to get to the concert on time that evening. It was the first time i ever heard of & seen Kashtin.I remember dancing to the beats with a few first nation people at the concert in Montreal ,i had a good time there even if im a pale skin X-)
Both Claude Mckenzie and Florent Vollant released great new CDs this year - you can find them at archambault [dot] ca. I was lucky enough to see both of them perform in Mani-utenam (aka Maliotenam, the reserve where this video was filmed) just last weekend :-) There's video of Claude's fabulous show with Petapan on my channel, nikamuna09. There's also video of Florent Vollant at Innu Nikamu this summer. They're still making great music!
The beauty of a song like this is you don't need to know the words. The beat carries you along and you fill in the words in the language of your choice....... This should be played at the Vancouver Olympics.
Toujours bon .. ça peu pas devenir dépassé ... Québécois Amérindiens Faites la Paix .. les Québécois n'ont pas les mains tachés du sang des Indiens d'amériques. Les amérindiens sont nos frères ..
i love this band a lot just not realy in to this kind of music but this is a good band! now i know why my mom and dad named me kashtin after this band. :D
i've had the pleasure to meet a few inuit people from labrador, way down here in windsor ont. i'm all the better for it. great people of the kind we rarely get to meet. I've been a Kashtin fan since i first saw this video some years back. Love to see a new album from them..
bravo..je ne comprends pas les paroles mais c vraiment beau et c dommage qu on aide autant les immigrants(j en suis un moi-meme)et qu on oublie les premieres nations..enanitoalberto et nassa77514.xox
very true, seeing as i am one of the last 5 people with my last name (my username), i've got to preserve my culture and pass it onto my children. I'm Inuit from Labrador, we First Nations and Inuit cannot let our culture die.
When they came to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, at the forks for Indian times 2. This song, a bunch of dancers came dancing out onto the grounds and dancing down the stairs to the stage. That night was so so good, I have that on V.H.S tape and watch it all the time.

Doubt they'll ever go back together, since Claude McKenzie went to prison for drunk driving and hitting a little girl with his car.
