Does this unit feature the NATO 150 Hz tone squelch? The PRC-77 and "RACALish" PRC-522 presently used by the Canadian Army both tx the 150 Hz tone, and require tone reception to unsquelch the receiver. The exception is both radios have an unsquelched rx mode, useful for receiving very weak/picket-fencing signals.
Mark, Have you made any contacts yet with your PRC-351? Also, when's your next video on the radio? Plus, my charger works great, all I need is a 4amp battery.
I used to use this kit and hump it around. We always used to remove it from the frame and lob it inside a bergen easier and lighter to use! Nice to see this stuff is still around as it is ageing just like me.

Mark, I did buy a PRC351 yesterday. I just the battery is ok and I'll have to fins a way to recharge them for use. Since I'm in the US will a 12/24 charger work?
@stocksj I imagine it would but i'm not sure about charge time etc, I'd look out for a 14v or 28v DCCU (the exact bit of kit) and then feed that with your voltage.
Hi Mark, Nice video. This is helping me decide to buy a PRC-351 since the prices are great and the broadcast using the same freq as the US PRC-77 which are old and hard to come by.
Hi mark i have also the 351/2 and i think they are great radios you have a good sett up . could you tell me were i could pick up a psu 24/24 let me know many thanks paul
thanks for doing the video it is awsome :)......... plus i have just bought one of the smaller radios which is a PRC 349... its not bad but its only 1 watt
* = noise on :- this function removes the squelch (or receiver muting) so you get the high pitched noise intill you send for receive something, like on older radios.
Cool radio. Theres something about those vintage, rugged radios that is really cool. Flipping those heavy switches sure is satisfying. I wish more electronics today had switches like that.
Really informative video thank you very much, still debating purchasing one of the green radios, just which one!

do you pick anything up on the 5200 channel???
TheFunnyRandomDude 5 months ago
@TheFunnyRandomDude 52.000mhz is the very top of the 6m meter band near the FM repeater output channels.
51.510 is the FM calling frequency but the 25khz steps make this impossible.
I've had a few QSO's on 51.450mhz.
Listen on 4m 70.0 - 70.500 Mhz

@stocksj Hi Jim
I've made a few contacts with the 351, a couple on 4m for a test and a few random QSO's on 6m all using the whip mount.
I shall have to record some video of the next ones, I've been quite busy recently and sometimes struggle to find the time to turn and radios on!
For the 4ah battery I get them a guy local to me here in Norfolk England.
PM this guy and he will send you one i'm sure, he now ships all round the world.

@joinerpauluk Hi Paul
I got mine from PTS Norfolk, give them a ring on 01362 695939.
They can send it via post, everything is tested so no need to worry about it not working unlike some of the scrap metal for sale on ebay..
