@sonictwin hey, unfortunately im not thattt musical. I use a progrom which annalyses the frequencies. its called MIXED IN KEY. my friend on the other hand can recognise the base root key and can figure out the key from there. Smart man 'fRew' look him up.
@davewubbek lol for most musicians who are serious about theory it's basic knowledge that the circle of 5ths is how to figure out keys ^u^ If you want you can check that out and then all you need is to find a few notes hope this helps people
What are you using as looper? I have been using the loop function inside the Track sample box but at most. I can only get a one bar loop, even after a year of researching and experimenting i haven't figured a way to chop loops like that. I'm more than likely going to purchase the isotonik Patch but if you could tell me how you do it. I would love to know.
I have ableton live and the APC40 but, i cant even use the APC40 controller. I can only control Ableton with my mouse and keyboard. Do you know how to set it up so i can actually use my controller?
@divineclown The apc is only a midi device.. which means it doesn't have any sound card, or an audio out. It merly controls the buttons, sliders & knobs in live. So you will alway sneed a laptop with it.
hey very instructive vid!!! i have a question, could you post your midi mapping? or the template? because i totally love the way you mix in live using the apc40 and i would like to try it...
@Jimmmeeehhh hi, i didn't have to split anything because riverside is sequenced in such a way that all the parts are readily available to cut out and use. Such as teh kick and perc at start.. then the vocal.. then the lead in the break down :)
@tothebollocks hey, you can either eq out the shit you don't want.. or you can steal the bits you want from the break down, or you can buy the parts of beatport sometimes... or another good way is to get parts from remix competitions. Pretty much whereever you can find. You can't really just solo out parts from songs... it doesnt work that well, unless you have expensive ass equipment and are a sound engineer ;) but still doesn't sound good anyway.
Great video... very useful to see how you use the APC40 and also how you've configured Ableton. Some great tips there that I'm gonna use from now on. Thanks, Dave.
hey beforezero, I don't use eq when mixing. I prefer to use the filters, which esentially is just an eq. Even when i use the DJM 800 i prefer to use the filters rather then the eq coz I find it easier and smoother.
hey digitally2007, not sure about this one. Give it ago. Click the midi assign button and click the bottom right hand tab of the ableton screen. Hopefully this is assignable coz i know this would be very heapful
is there a midi assign in ableton to switch the track from wav view at the bottom to the effects chain... coz sometimes when your changing parameters on the effects you like to see what your changing.... if you know pls share...
are you using maxx for live to do macros? or can i do your same mapping with just Live and the APC 40?

How do you even get a sample to the apc..?
CrazedJer 6 months ago
@CrazedJer Hi, APC is a Midi Controller, there is no Audio interface in this equipment. If you want to sample, you have to get a sampler.
thephaseshifter 5 months ago
@thephaseshifter what does that mean? sorry its my first time using an ableton.
CrazedJer 5 months ago
@CrazedJer What do you exaclty want to do?
thephaseshifter 5 months ago
@thephaseshifter I just want ANYTHING to be in my apc, because I dont know how to do that.
CrazedJer 5 months ago
@CrazedJer Sorry, you cant put sounds in you MPC, because its just a midi controller

@thephaseshifter What a midi controller?
CrazedJer 5 months ago

How do you separate all the different parts of the songs? Like, get the vocals out separate from the lead parts, drums, etc?

You have to go into ... Preferences/Midi Settings, and select apc 40 as your midi device. Have you done this yet?
