  • Lol I do that from shore nice one though prob 4 lbs you gotta learn CPR my friend I got a 21" 5-4 last weekend shaped like a friggin football

  • i caught a 18 in at 6 lb his stomach was huge when i cut him up the dull knife bearly tuched him and he just opened his skin was so tight on himself

  • Comment removed

  • @Spring2784 i dident eat it it swalloed the hook so i used the dead fish as bait but im with u i wouldent ever kill a game fish

  • i caught a 21" smallmouth just shy of 6 lbs on my ultralight (thats all i fish with) and it took close to 10 minutes to get him in,

if anyone cares about the secret to catching enormous bass on little rods and reels, you have to use lures designed for big fish scaled down. little skirted spinners, small versions of your favorite big bass crankbaits, and what i caught my biggest smallie on, scaled back topwater lures.

  • @FueledByTyeler You can kill a smallie if you fight them too long. Chill out

  • Its amazing they survived the trip!

  • you kinda cheated on the measurement there but still like 20 nice fish

  • I have a 4 lb on the wall my wife caught at Snowbank in the 80s. By the 1990's we had passed that mark a half dozen times. Used to catch bass while fishing for Pike.

They would hit decoy sucker minnows. Expensive minnows $10 a dozen

  • wow nice!

  • @biggfishh58 Thanks!

  • my smallie was 23 inches and was a fat hog

  • thats not very big

  • Every Smallmouth I've caught that has been 20" plus has either been on live bait, or 1/2 oz spinnerbaits at night. It doesn't really matter, though, it still feels good to get one that size! congratulations.

  • I was just thinking about how all the smallmouths I catch are 16-19 inches, but I just can't break the 20 inch mark

  • @Foxbrosracing33 Don't feel bad. I have only caught two smallmouth over 20 inches. Most of the ones I caught were 18 inches or less.

  • @namtkd1 i just broke the 20 inch mark, 22 inch Smallie, 6 pounds...

  • @Foxbrosracing33 Great Job! That's a big smallmouth! I have yet to break the 21-inch mark...

  • thats a football smallie...

  • saw the link to this video and had to watch lol i go up to ontario every summer and catch tons of big smallies, walleye, muskie...no place else i'd rather be

right now i'm just wishing this ice would go away though haha

  • dude you gotta get that fish back in the water quicker

  • @Eriefisherman Nice! I like those big 20-inch smallies about as round as footballs. Yes, we put the fish back and it swam away fine. I did get a replica made of the fish.

  • Lake Michigan.

  • Nice I caught one that size on Johnson lake Minnesota

  • i havent caught a lake trout yet.... but next weekend i am going fly fishing for rainbows and hopefully i will catch a lake trout! What is the best way to fish for them?

  • i havent had the chance to reel in a lake trout yet.. but i am going to a lake next week where i will be fly fishing for rainbows and lake trout! i am excited! i will let you know how it went!

  • Awesome! i caught a 19 & 1/2 inch smallmouth at lake powell! Those smallies fight hard! it was cool to see him jumping out of the water by about 3 feet about 4 times! Good job!

  • I agree with you! Those big smallies pull like tugboats! They're my second favorite fish next to lake trout. Have you reeled in a lake trout yet?

  • @namtkd1 Im gonna make that my goal this year to catch a lake trout! Ive grew up catchin smallies but there was no lake trout around here.

  • @Trashfished Lake trout are awesome! They fight hard and give you a tough battle. Where are you going?

  • I love fishing

  • Me too! You never know what will bite on the other end of the line.

  • yeah its aesome!

  • brookies killem. i was fishing in a rivah for smallies and hooked into a 14-15'' native brookie!?

  • Nice! I haven't caught a brookie yet. Only rainbows and browns. Trout are acrobatic when they're hooked.

  • nothing beats a mistertwister

  • I agree! Mister Twister works just about everywhere I have fished.

  • wat were u using?

  • We were using 5" curly tail grubs. Pumpkin pepper was the color.

  • nice fish!

my friend caught 22 inch 6_1/2 pound largemouth but your smally lookes more solid and heavier than his largemouth

  • Thanks! It was my biggest smallie and have yet to catch one bigger. My goals is 22 inches now.

  • i caught my biggest smallie in a small pond, with a thunderstorm approaching, i knew the fishing was going to increase, so i started burning a red/orange 1 oz. bill lewis rattle trap, w/ a 7:1:1Pfluger patriarch, funny thing is i live in illinois, the craws DONT turn red up north, they are green-brwn. in color, water color was slightly stained, but there was craws in the rocks i was burning the bait over, i guess he just wanted to see what this BIG red noisy thing was, crashing into the Riprap

  • That Smallmouth is a Monster!

    Nice Catch!

    -FishingOnFuego

  • awesome smallmouth check out my smallie

  • Nice fish man!

  • i think the fish at the end are called "snaggs", nice smallie though!!

  • if anyone knows a good smallmouth lure please let me know

  • Curly tail grub on a jighead. Hard to beat!

  • Anything works, the fish are not selective at all.

  • green pumpkin tube jig. Best smallie bait around.

  • use gulp leecheson a small jig, they work wonders

  • rapala classic floating minnow

  • one night crawler hooker once in middle let it hang right off the bottom or a perch color short fat crankbait we caught em all day

  • when you measure youre supposed to take the tape measure and lay it flat against the fish not across the body... measuring across the body adds about 1 to 2 inches in length it was probly 20 inches but ... very nice man

  • the measuring tape was very loose when you measured that fish, which probably added 2 or 3 inches to the total length. you probably didn't think anyone would notice, but a second look at the video will prove that i'm right. still, it's a nice fish and bigger than any smallie i've ever caught. congrats.

  • a day before bass opener in mn, my cousin landed a 22" smallie down in coon rapids dam x]

i landed some 17s, 19s in crd as well. but these fishes moved away from shore now, so sad =[

all i catch now is 7-10" smallies. :'(

  • NICE FISH! caught a 17 inch smallmouth last week but it didn't have the shoulders yours has!

  • Thanks! It's been almost two years since I caught and released that smallie. I haven't caught a bass over 20 inches since. A 17-inch smallmouth you caught is a nice fish!

  • that is a really nice fish

  • its 21 inches not pounds, dont you see the little quotation marks next 2 it that means inches not pounds pounds is lbs

  • ya sorry i noticed that after i posted the comment.............

  • No problem, hope you catch a big one this season!

  • that is not 21 pounds

  • It was actually 21 inches, not pounds. If it was 21 pounds, I will have a heart attack! :)

  • wer you using a 6" lizard when u caught this?

  • Nope, the magic lure was a 5" curly tail grub in the pumpkin pepper color rigged on a 1/8 oz. mushroom jighead.

  • mine was 26'' but it was a lage mouth

  • Did you catch that 26" largemouth in Minnesota? That's huge!

  • No actually I caught it at my cottage in ontario canada

  • thats 3' inches bigger than that MN state record..

  • witch bait did u use

  • I used a 5" curly tail grub in the pumpkin pepper color rigged on a 1/8 oz. mushroom jighead.

  • wow..thts pretty good...im only 14 and ive caught 2 like tht in wisconson near lake tomahawk....1 of them was 21.5 inches and weighed 6 lbs...and i was only 9 wen i caught tht 1...and i caught another 1 this last year tht was an inch littler and 5 lbs..it feels so great 2 get a bass tht big in the boat doesnt it?? my grandpa was with me and he like almost fainted..he coodnt even net the 1 last year..so my cousin did..and we got it in and we were screamin cuz we almost lost it.tht cooda been bad!

  • It was my biggest smallmouth and it felt awesome to get the fish in the boat! You're lucky to have caught one when you were 9! Wish I caught one that big back then.

  • ya i almost dropped the pole in the water..lol

  • I hope that was a catch and release.

  • Yes the bass was released immediately after a couple photos were taken. It felt really good to see the fish swim away!

  • Did you get a weight? by the looks i would say around 5-6 hard to tell though. Where on the lake did you catch that, I just fished the lake about 2 months ago. Thats neat i never heard of trolling those spiral tail jigs.

  • I didn't get a weight on the fish, just the length. My guess is probably close to 5 lbs. but not over. Maybe 4.8 lbs.? I caught a 21" largemouth a few years back and it was just under 5 lbs. Try trolling with those curly tail grubs some time. You will be surprise at what you will catch!

  • hey i figured out that really small crank baits work good if there light colored

  • i caught one that length, but nowhere near the pounds, nice catch

  • Hey thats a pretty big bass well hurry throught the bass in the water after a minute they dye around there4 min 5 min.

  • one hell of a bass, i like the excitement

  • I was a little over excited. Too much I think. It was, however, my first smallmouth over 20 inches and it still the only one.

  • holy crap, nice smallie

  • Thanks for your comment, I am looking for another trophy smallmouth. Hope you're having a good season.

  • Thanks for your comment! It was my biggest smallmouth. I was pretty excited. :)

  • nice smally!

  • driscr2465 its probably because you got fucking lucky or your just a bullshitter, this is a nice video where were you?

  • I was up on Moose Lake in Ely, Minnesota. This fish was caught while we were trolling the rocky shoreline in about 15 feet using a 5" pumpkin pepper colored curly tail grub. As we passed over a ridge my lure bumped bottom twice and immediately I got a hit that bent my rod in half... I set the hook and my drag was screeching and line was peeling. Had me nervous up until we netted the fish.

  • my personal best small mouth is 24 inches on a 3/8 ounce chartruce spinnerbait, in new york finger lake, and i am only 14

  • Nice Bass! You may have had a Northern Pike on there at the end. I've used Husky jerks before and Bass and Pike will hit them.
