It's not an Adam and Eve genesis style Biblical text, its a book of guidance, and it recounts historical events and provides moral guidance and has done so for over 1,600 years, and it is widely regarded as the finest piece of Arab literature there is. It is sacred in my mind fpr those very reasons. Perhaps you should read up on your theology before slapping labels on things.

Now does this mean that a person has the right to tear these books up, no. It is someone else's property. Still even if you are insulted by this act there are many other ways to deal with it.
