Hey jamal God bless bro, do you have anything like the mks sensation for mox? i want those sounds on my mox is it possible to use the mks 20 midi for my keyboard?
Awesome Jamal! I think some of us need to read Leviticus and Numbers-This will show them how serious God takes worship and they will also see the expense that also were involved with the Tabernacle-got to love the Levites! Peace man!
not coming on here to hate, hey i mean these church people can really play music man very talented people, however i think like any industry that profits off the people should maybe keep a lower profile, dont want this to be about faith go sell that to survivors of 911 we all make are beds to lie in, so much love and hope your future is bright -
@so5p They dont need to keep a low profile if they are running their church with integrity and upright records. Yes there are some shady churches yet there are many trustworthy churches as well. You cant really separate faith when talking about church. Peace and blessings
so why does a church need thousand dollar synths dont think god cares about sound and how is the tax credit with your church, i use to work at guitar center and guys like this come in all the time getting huge discounts on purchases. so really you guys need all these tools for some gospel organ and piano?????? yeah ok
@so5p I'm not sure where you're from or your experience with God and the Lord, but we believe in giving God the BEST. Not some second hand used stuff. You can go to a concert and see thousands of dollars worth of equipment and people giving their best, why wouldn't someone want to GIVE THEIR BEST to the Lord in which they serve?
@GospelMusicians Very well said. God gave his best to us. Jamal, have you ever did any workshops for musicians? If not, have you ever thought about doing so and would you ever come to the Atlanta area. You and your family stay blessed and I really appreciate all that you've done musically.
@GospelMusicians I mean no disrespect but in this day and age religion really is pointless. Let's look at it from this point. If it wasn't for the scientific repression of the middle ages from religion or the countless other crimes against humanity the world would be soo much better. Religion is a man made construct. It is nothing more than a coping mechanism which is fine if you need that but it holds no real standing in todays world. Logically it is nothing.
@GospelMusicians jamal you should get i just got the mox8 its so light compared to the motif xf/xs 8 but it has all the sounds i love it oh yeah they got some kind of promotion at guitar center they emailed me a coupon that took off 200 bucks and i got the gig bagg for free that cost around 150 so it was a come up
@so5p, They do always have the most expensive stuff..lol. A buddy of mine is a Gospel Musician and he always had the most expensive gear that came out. I never knew churches got discounts on gear though!! Now I know how he get all those nice boards..lol.
@so5p Have you listened to gospel music lately? Gospel musicians use alot more sounds than just piano and organ (especially when you're trying to duplicate the sound of a 7 or 9 piece band on an album).
@so5p why you hate'n on what we do in church i just bought this keyboard with my own money not the churches and didnt buy it for the church,i bought because as a serious musician i want the best and most professional equipment i can get for myself and yeah i used the tax id number to get the discount but thats the least the church can do cause there not gonna buy a keyboard that cost 1700 bucks an if something breaks i gotta replace it im actually helping their service out with better instuments
I love the board but hate the wall wort! Why not a regular AC cable with ground to plug in like the normal pro keyboards? I guess the answer is they wanted keep down the weight.
Nice review. Always wanted the original motif. Heard they are great controllers. I had that axiom 61 pro up there but had an "oops" so I was lookin' into maybe a motif as a controller. Oh and I know it's not the reviewers studio but the monitors should be pointed at your ears, and you def need some sort of acoustic treatment in that room...
the faders missing doesn't bother me. what bothers me on the mox6 is there is NO SAMPLING!!!!. and i CAN'T NOT ROLL WITH YAMAHA'S STOCK DRUMS!!!. thats a deal breaker right there.the keyboard sounds are nice though. but i would have to use the mpc with it.
MOX6 sounds are so amazing to me. what's with the whole plastic-e comments through the whole thing? people .. this is the best price for superior value
the organs on the kurzweil would make you change you mind jamal about playing organs on the keyboards i you dont alreadsy know which im sure you do i just wonder if you have made a review on it and i would love to hear your chords on the kurzweil organ keyboard and the pianos to me are fatter and more reralistic than sorry to say yamaha i know your horns about to come down!!! =) lol please do a review i wanna know what you think cause i value your opinion
i would like to than the person that sent me the message about the kurzweil man god lead me to it and i am just blown away you are right nothing can compare to pc sounds all man i went to church and had church that person that put his heart to make gods church sound good all over the world did a exellent job thank god for that gift he gave that person god bless you all jamal and his followers me included lol!!!!! =)
I just bought the MOX6 as my first keyboard/synthesizer workstation as I plan to move towards composing and producing music. I am really loving the sounds and freedom, but coming from classical/pop piano background with zero experience towards keyboarding/cubase software, I am totally overwhelmed by the amount of features! Definitely industrial professional standard keyboard! Maybe a little too much for me as a first keyboard.. Owners manual isn't helping much. Are there any help guides online?
being that the mo x 6 doesnt have too many pianos can i somehow download a expansion of the pianos like k sound pianos on the mo x 6 and if so pleasssseee tell me how love your reviews man and the playing been following you for a while now
thanks for the video after seeing you playing I went and brought one I just have one question if you can help.. when I hook up my headphones straight to the keyboard I only get music coming out of one side of the headphones how can I fix it to play out of both sides of the headphones?please HELP thanks if advance GOD speed.
just wondering your thoughts of the mox compared to the original MO. is it worth the price difference? would it be a better value to pick up the mo8 now with the price cut?
I myself am for years a Roland and Korg user (nowadays Fantom X and Triton to be more concrete) . I really liked also how you talked about Roland and Korg users comparing to Yamaha. Haha, I am one of them and guess what: a while ago I also took time and tried the MOX6 in the store and soon it is gonna be my next keys !!! no one never play the synth sounds in there review only piano and strings please play synths and lead sound and is it really the same sounds as the xs
Great playing, man. I'd like to have your technique and feeling of jazz music. Thanks from Russia. But I don't like this synth because of cheap design and materials (cheep plastic) and this synth is made in China((( As alternative, I like Yamaha MO6. It's a great professional synth. Has a serious design and quality materials of body. And it's made in Japan. I think MO6 is a really high-quality instrument, but not MOX6, which remind me a PSR or MM6, like a toy (has a view). Anyway thank you!
Thanks for this very entertaining and informative video, Jamal. I've got an ES-6 on which I've not totally gotten a good command of all of its features yet - slowly, but surely I will, however. I was looking at the MOX6 after watching a few other videos on it; yours only further validates what an excellent keyboard it is. Like the M50, I know we have to sacrifice a nicer keybed and a few other niceties, but the sounds really are phat and rich, which is most important to me. Thanks again!
hey man... video was good! i just have one question... why does everyone have just a plain midi controller and workstations which have midi ins and outs? wouldnt it be cheaper to just have the workstation?
man i feel so bad because i spent 2000 on the fantom g after comparing and tring to choose between the fantom and yamaha xf and now that i bought the roland i went to the music store cause i was still missing the right organ sound too much work to make the real thing on the supposed to b fantom yamaha got it on the money you cant bet that i am sooo sad right now the sounds are so good my wife had to pull me off it darn it love your sound and have learned alot from you god bless and keep you!!!
You should listen to the organ and EP sounds on the Kurzweils too.
Any shortcomings on your current keyboard can achieved with soft synths so don't fret too much on your buying decisions. Sample memory and cpu power is mega times more on a PC versus any keyboard workstation, all you have to do is find the perfect soft synth(s) to get the sounds you want.
Can this MOX6 fit into your Motif ES6's case? Cos this machine seems like longer than most 61 keys (due to the left side additional part). THANKS A LOT & YOU'RE SUPER AWESOME!!!!!
@elite1keys Changing keyboards won't make you a better piano player. Practicing on what you have will make you better. No use in having a super keyboard with no practice time. The guys that are the best keyboard players, don't have the newest updated keyboards.
@2468DDT as a drummer, good drums can make you sound better, but only skill can make you truly sound good. you should aim to sound good on the sub-par instruments
@elite1keys a newer upto date keyboard can possibly motivate you to play better however its not like it has superpowers or whatever to make you better.
Funny how you mentioned Yamaha keyboards being "warmer" and "fatter" sounding? Now I love Yamaha gear, heck I have run a Yamaha web site for the past ten years but, I find Roland and to some extent Korg to have much warmer pianos and thicker analogue sounding synth pads. I exhanged my MOX for a Roland Juno Gi and am very glad I did. To my ears it sounds a lot richer. Just goes to show how we all hear things differently :)
Man, your playing is GREAT!!! Very beautiful and technical!!! The synth is also AMAZING! It's my dream) I have MM6. It's also very nice machine for it's money. But MOX6 is legend) Don't you know, what synth will come on replacement Yamaha MM6? Thank you!!!
Man Can I get those EP in Motif ES????really need to know about, so please let me know whats the diffrence in Motif ES, XS and MOX EPs. Which one is good to buy to have the best sound of warm EPs
@mirkuskus The EP's are new in the MOX and Motif XS. You can't get them in your ES. The best you can do is purchase our Neo-Soul Rhodes for the Motif, but all of the tines and DX sounds are just for the XS and MOX.
this keyboard has only 64 polyphony so my question is did u recognized any change in quality of sound as the motif xs, xf have 128 note polyphony. thanks i need to know about because i am looking to buy one too
@mirkuskus yes!!! layer a few sounds and start chording and you will figure it out immediately. im sticking to my MOTIF and Super charger KARMA with "special inserts" lol
bru im actually thinkin bout getin my church the mox8 88key weighted key version. If you go to look at it, could u please upload a vid or just tell me how you think the weighted keys feel
You've got so much fun playing the MoX. You made me smile. It's a great demo and I think you have only scratched the surface of the keyboard. I didn't hear a weak sound, and there are so many others to choose from.
You starting to make me love that Neo Soul mann ! I love this mann ! I love your impressions dude. You killin' it with that Rhodes especially DoC !!!! Mad respect man!
Do the knobs have the same funcion as the faders when layering sounds? Can the volumes of the individual parts be tweaked? Also if I have the motif ES8 and use it primarily for church and hiphop/rnb production would you recommend replacing it with the Mox8 or getting the Mox6 as a secondary keyboard (which I do not have right now)?
@spicyhot231 Not sure about the knobs question, but the MOX is a good upgrade over the ES. But remember, your ES can load samples and sample and the MOX can't. Just look at the MOX as a good sound source. It's not that much of an upgrade to the ES, but way more sounds and better sound quality.
@GospelMusicians I've never loaded sounds into my motif es because I dont know how and I use mainstage with a midi controller alot in church as a secondary since I mainly use my secondary for synths/synth bass/bass/brass. I think the sound upgrade alone is worth replacing the motif es. and thnx for all that you do! Im an year old musician/producer in orlando and you've really helped me enhance my playing! Oh and one more thing, can you do a review of the mox keyboard intergrating with logic 9?
@spicyhot231, I tested this out the other day and from what I can tell (as I don't own one), there's one knob for volume and the other knobs cannot be used for volume (as it is right now).
With regards to replacing the your ES8 with a MoX, you need to evaluate what is it that you use on the ES8 and what is most important to you. If you're looking at it strictly from a sound engine perspective the MoX has the newer sound engine compared to the ES.
Now, we know the board sounds good after a few minutes into the video but JAMALS CHOPS are just soaring. Did you guys hear Jamal bust out with the classical flava? Nice job Sir.
Does it has networking (LAN) capabilities, if it does, I can bet it is unable to make connection from MOX to PC because I have that same problem with me XS even though I updated to the OS1.6 and the fact that it is compatible with Win7. I am so disappointed in Yamaha :(
It sounds better than the ES because the sound engine in the MOX6/8 keyboards is the same as the Motif XS, so you're basically getting the XS sounds for a MO6/8 price, since most places are still selling both and only a price difference of $100-200.

You've got so much fun playing the MoX. You made me smile. It's a great demo and I think you have only scratched the surface of the keyboard. I didn't hear a weak sound, and there are so many others to choose from.

Thank you. I was going to buy the Roland Fantom G6, but for the price, I can't beat this Yamaha. This will be my first workstation. Wish me luck.
Blessings,
Tim

Couple of questions.
Do the knobs have the same funcion as the faders when layering sounds? Can the volumes of the individual parts be tweaked? Also if I have the motif ES8 and use it primarily for church and hiphop/rnb production would you recommend replacing it with the Mox8 or getting the Mox6 as a secondary keyboard (which I do not have right now)?
spicyhot231 9 months ago
@spicyhot231 Not sure about the knobs question, but the MOX is a good upgrade over the ES. But remember, your ES can load samples and sample and the MOX can't. Just look at the MOX as a good sound source. It's not that much of an upgrade to the ES, but way more sounds and better sound quality.
GospelMusicians 9 months ago
@GospelMusicians I've never loaded sounds into my motif es because I dont know how and I use mainstage with a midi controller alot in church as a secondary since I mainly use my secondary for synths/synth bass/bass/brass. I think the sound upgrade alone is worth replacing the motif es. and thnx for all that you do! Im an year old musician/producer in orlando and you've really helped me enhance my playing! Oh and one more thing, can you do a review of the mox keyboard intergrating with logic 9?
spicyhot231 9 months ago
@spicyhot231, I tested this out the other day and from what I can tell (as I don't own one), there's one knob for volume and the other knobs cannot be used for volume (as it is right now).
With regards to replacing the your ES8 with a MoX, you need to evaluate what is it that you use on the ES8 and what is most important to you. If you're looking at it strictly from a sound engine perspective the MoX has the newer sound engine compared to the ES.

Does it has networking (LAN) capabilities, if it does, I can bet it is unable to make connection from MOX to PC because I have that same problem with me XS even though I updated to the OS1.6 and the fact that it is compatible with Win7. I am so disappointed in Yamaha :(
RGMultimedia 9 months ago
It sounds better than the ES because the sound engine in the MOX6/8 keyboards is the same as the Motif XS, so you're basically getting the XS sounds for a MO6/8 price, since most places are still selling both and only a price difference of $100-200.
