Most people who know Spader from Boston Legal would be shocked by this performance, as it is so understated and subtle. This whole movie is awesome and full of great acting and insights.
yeah, this film is brilliant. McDowell and Spader were amazing in this. Their face, their expressions, everything. It brings tears to my eyes because it is just so good.
Couple things A- James Spader is truly amazing, B- he looks good with his long hair and anyone who says differently is lying, and C- he may be off but that's part of his charm.
"And look what you've changed into. Nine years... nine years.... and this is what you came up with. Is this what you wanna be the rest of your life? Why are you doing this? Why are you doing this to yourself?"
And then he stares at her in such a way... I really miss Soderbergh's initial ideas as film-maker.
James Spader and Andie MacDowell were just fabulous in this film. What a great scene and as was mentioned before you felt as if you were a silent observer in these peoples lives rather than watching a film. Great, great flick with fabulous performances.

Excellent. (I especially loved the music) I never felt like I watching a film, but being a silent observer in these peoples lives, listening to them "bare" their "souls" and watching interact with each other.
