@ethanbubblegumtate@dfortae actually I did not have to modify my .cfg file to get the game working. I just had to type mount c: c:\ in DOSBox. Now there is not disk 3 deal.
@jeffstukas OK. I assumed it was because you were using the common WizardWorks re-release version that is otherwise fine but has a typo in the CFG file.
Anyway, it's great to be playing this old game in DOSBox. Keeping notes while playing is ridiculously easy and the ability to speed up the game easily for some of the more tedious combats is pure gold.
@jeffstukas If your still interested on how to solve the Disk 3 problem you just need to open up pool.cfg in your pool of radiance directory with a text editor and you will see c:\poolrad followed by c:\poolrad\save just put a \ at the end of both i.e. c:\poolrad\ and c:\poolrad\save\ that should solve the problem. Just keep in mind c:\poolrad is the name of whatever the directory you place pool of radiance and where the games saved data is in.
@jeffstukas No problem I had the same problem with Pools and Curse, also if your running it under dosbox you can get music and some what better sound effect if you enable Tandy sounds in both the game and Dosbox. If your using the wizard works re-release it wont allow you to use Tandy music with out enabling tandy colour which is odd since the other version I have of the game allows for Tandy sounds and music while using EGA graphics. You can also do this for Curse and Champions.
@NeoTifasRevenge yes it did Champions, Curse of Azure Bonds, Death Knights of Krynn, Dark Queen, Pools of darkness, Secret of Silvar blades and the two buck rogers games used the same engine that Pool of Radiance did it was referred to as the Gold Box engine.

how did you solve the disk 3 problem?
jeffstukas 1 year ago
@jeffstukas I had the original game, not the collector's edition. The original game didn't have the disk 3 problem.

@dfortae lol, i have solved this quite sum time ago... thanks for replying though.

@jeffstukas I edited my POOL.CFG file to look like this:
---
E
P
C:\POOLRAD\
\POOLRAD\SAVE\
F
---
That made the disk 3 prompt go away.

This game is very much like Champions of Krynn, and I think it uses the same engine.
