The only way you could "believe in vain" is if Jesus Christ didn't rise. I am not going to question anyone that believes the Gospel contained in 1Cor.15:1-4...If they believed and trusted that settles it. Can you believe in vain? IMHO the answer is no. It would have been in vain if Christ was not risen from the dead.
@FORMETOKNOWONLY I think you're missing something. You can read the words and attach different meanings from the doctrine that Paul preached them as.The phrase is spoken all too often-Jesus died for your sins, was buried and raised for you.THAT is the outline-do you know what each part means as Jesus gave it to PAUL? That's quite another thing..to believe those words according to wrong preaching (out of MT MK LK & JN for instance)is another gospel and believing like that is without purpose (vain)
@Ahavah8Ahavah I didn't reference MT, MK, LK or JN when I said that...I read it in the context of all of Chapter 15. I didn't come here to debate...I just don't want babes in Christ questioning the validity and reality of their salvation. I trusted what Jesus Christ did for me and accept it.
@FMTKO~I only used MT, MK, LK,JN as examples of what is the most common wrong preaching people claim to trust on.If they do,they do not trust on"The Gospel of Christ"-how can they? They are different gospels.People SHOULD question and KNOW that they are saved. There is a way to know..if you are doubting, you NEED the gospel preached to you. Most people have no clue and do not comprehend the gospel of OUR salvation. To say you "trusted what Jesus Christ did for you and accept it" is nice-most say that
If I were to follow anybody, I guess I would follow Moses. I'm pretty sure he was the greatest miracle worker. Although, if God is really so powerful, He should have no problem talking directly to me. Cheers
@ImSchnitzer - It's nice you came by to talk about your PREFERENCE about who YOU would follow ~ but ultimately - who cares? YHVW told us exactly who to follow and why...I choose to believe God over ANY man. Thanks for stopping in.
It's so refreshing to know I'm not the only one with all the answers! I was afraid I could be the only believer struggling with pride. God bless you my beloved !!!
@ImSchnitzer - I DO have all the answers! It's called THE WORD OF GOD - you might want to read and BELIEVE it as He wrote it, to whom He wrote, for the purpose of His writing it. I have the answers because God gave them to us to KNOW. HalleluYAH!
What does it profit if someone says he has faith but doesn't have works? Can faith save him? If a brother is naked & destitute of daily food, & one of you says to them “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you don't give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it doesn't have works, is dead. But you'll say- "You have faith, & I have works". Show me your faith without your works & I'll show you my faith by my works (James 2:14-26)
@RabinoBoricuaVirtual - You do not and cannot live as was required under law...you'd be sold out and have all things common #1 - I'm sure you wouldn't be on a computer writing being a tremendous hypocrite to what you SAY you believe. Please...enough.
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. (Matt. 15:24).
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.(John 4:22)
You want to believe in Jesus? Then become part of the house of Israel; start to practice Jesus own religion- Judaism. If you don't, you won't be allowed to go thrue the doors of the New Jerusalem, as they are marked only with the names of the twelve tribes of Israel (Rev21:12). Shalom
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
The fulness isn't in! That kingdom gospel is NOT in effect currently.
(cont) Oh my goodness...you think YOU are going into the city?! WOW...wake up call...that was for Israel, but there is NO ISRAEL of God for us to follow and come under today! Until the fulness be come in, there will not be Israel...and you'll know when the kingdom is being offered again - because you'll be experiencing "Jacob's Trouble" before the 1000 year reign begins.
#2 Paul was wrong dismissing the Law; & Jesus prophesy fell upon him, as he ended up acknowledging that he was the least amongst the apostles: "For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle..." (1st Cor. 15:9). Paul himself recognized his foolishness, yet you blindly follow his teachings!: "I have made a fool of myself..." 2 Cor. 12:11. When will it finally dawn upon you that Jesus was sent only to the Jews, as only they could truly understand his message?
@RabinoBoricuaVirtual - oh dude...take it somewhere else. I totally get that Jesus in the flesh was sent ONLY to Jews. I also get that Israel has been blinded, the program cut off and that the Apostle Paul was appointed by Christ RISEN (not in the flesh) for us gentiles. AND TODAY, there are ONLY Gentiles...you can play religious Jewish games, but it's not what saves anyone! You can't even keep the law anyway - your obedience is dung in God's nostrils. It's a game of man.
Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (TODAY we don't follow the Messiah to Israel...we follow Christ as he directed our apostle to teach us and to believe on the only saving gospel today - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
Romans 15:8
Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister OF THE CIRCUMCISION for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers
(cont) Yep...Jesus came for them, He was rejected...the stoning of Stephen in Acts 7 was the decline and eventual fall of Israel. Acts 9 Paul got saved with a message to dispense to gentiles - even to gentiles NEVER aligned with the nation of Israel! No longer under law with a totally different inheritance.
By the way, has anybody ever told you that you are Ashkenazi (European Jew)? I would strongly recommend that you search your Jewish roots. Shalom b' le Shanah tovah 5772.
@RabinoBoricuaVirtual ~ "This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
But avoid foolish questions, and *genealogies*, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."
It's Ok to be a Christian; but be consistent, and follow Jesus teachings. Don' follow Paul teachings, and then claim to be a Jesus follower. Paul contradicts Jesus, who speaking about the Law says: "Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven". See #2
@RabinoBoricuaVirtual - I am consistent..I am consistent with ALL of scripture in context. I believe it is ALL God's Word and I am not fooled by this world's focus on the man of Christ and denying His true deity which pervades ALL of scripture from Genesis to Revelation. In context the RISEN Lord came to Paul with a mystery and a gospel for us gentiles. I am told 8 different times to FOLLOW Paul - because THAT is who the Lord gave MY instructions to in a time NOT under law Its not rocket science
(cont) If you sir, were consistent...you wouldn't say such a foolish thing as "Paul's comments are appreciated, but really unwarrented..." LOL! God Almighty gave us an apostle with a revealed mystery...and you diss him? It's the Lord you are dissing, not Paul. Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to *MY* gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began (IT WAS SECRET BEFORE)
Shalom, Paul's comments are appreciated, but really unwarranted, as in this regard the Torah is crystal clear: "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" (Micah 6:8). -- You just do good (feed the hungry, clothe the naked, visit the sick, have a humble heart) and your reward will be assured, even by Christian standards (Matthew 25:34-46). Shalom
@RabinoBoricuaVirtual ~ SALVATION is the issue. Good works, no matter how "good" will earn you a seat in heavenly places. Things changed (but NOW righteousness without the law is manifest...today ALL THINGS ARE LAWFUL - couldn't say that in times past!). Today the issue is BELIEVE, you cannot behave your way into God's requirement for perfect righteousness - you must have the IMPUTED righteousness of Christ. If you think YOU can earn it...you are not saved and will be damned eternally. It's HIM
(cont) "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast." "But for us also, to whom it (righteousness) shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."
"ALL THINGS are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me..."
(cont) "ALL THINGS are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not."
"For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."
Because I trust and believe on Christ explicitly - sin no longer has dominion over me to send me to hell! I am not under law...I am NOW under grace. The Law was a schoolmaster, but now that I'm in the faith OF Christ I'm not under that schoolmaster! I'm not judged by it.
King James Version (KJV) "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."
AH wata shame ya had me up to the "sealed by holy spirit" deal. I am athiest BUT use the principles and messege of JC in my personal code of conduct. To me even in a 'secular' sense if I do something charitable with a disgruntled heart - it was in vain really wasnt it. Thats my take on your video here. Works are great but if ya do it with out a "glad heart" you have failed yourself and others (or fallen from grace). Like pity vs empathy.
Best example u are saved by grace and faith alone is.that robbing as homie that was next to jesus on the cross!y was he saved ? Not because he repented, and was baptized, and sumit to the law . But because he said I belives your god son ! Que no locos. Y would he be the only one to be saved by faith abd beliving only? If yhwn did it for one man then he has to do it for every faithfull beliver because he is just good day sir
@Godusesamac - There are different ways you see the Holy Ghost working in the scriptures...very generally in OT times the Spirit came and went, after Christ was crucified/resurrected/ascended you see the HG indwelling folks with power to DO things and endure to the end (waiting for their atonement), for us who are saved by the gospel that Paul aptly calls *MY* gospel...we are SEALED (not given powers to endure/heal/lay hands, etc) because our atonement is NOW. We have NOW received the atonement!
(cont) - in those differences we get to see that saved people can be immature in the faith, yet still be saved - in this time unable to blaspheme the HG now. The carnal Corinthians are a perfect example. There are other examples as well...we are NOW sealed, in times past they were not. It's a huge difference and understanding this can clear up so much confusion!
@Godusesamac "or possibly are a very immature chritstian."? Not true.I repented of sins and began following Jesus in Sept 21,1971 and am preaching the gospel in the streets where it belongs with signs confirming the preaching Mk16:20 So, where are YOUR signs following you? Mk 16:15-19???
YOU evangelical faithaloners say youy automatically have the holy spirit when one receives Jesus and is born again, rirght> How do you know you have the holy SPirit in you? Apparently the believers Paul found did not have the spirit until Paul came along and layed hands on them. Why?
@overboardbriggs - If you have the KJB, you have the VERY Word of God and when you read it as God commanded you to (in the way He commanded you to) you will stop being so confused. Get out of religion and trust the scriptures AS GOD WROTE IT, paying attention to the whole thing IN CONTEXT - not trying to put yourself where YOU personally don't belong. Christ appointed YOU an apostle (PAUL) - it's up to you to BELIEVE.
What "law" was ( is ) Paul talking about? BTW, KJV is in accurate. Get a real Bible without italics. Read all the IFs and BUTs and WARNINGs which speak to loosing your salvation (Hosea 9:15-17; Jn 15:2; and works required for salvation in James ch 2
Our works are not necessary for salvation(justification). Jesus paid for our salvation in full. Believers works are necessary to glorify God, help our neighbor, and to show others we are Christians. This is the three *legal* uses of the law. If you try to use the law in whole or in part to justify yourself before God you will be damned.
@InTheSpirit12 - I know you've been TAUGHT this...I used to say and think that too based on a faulty understanding of the Bible I didnt pay attention what was written to whom, for the purpose of it's being written, in the context of it's writing. We glorify God by believing (He gets ALL glory for saving wretches such as us), I would agree that works for helping our neighbors and walking a Christian walk so as not to be offensive are good uses of works - but still has NOTHING to do with salvation.
@InTheSpirit12 You don't know your Bible very well. Ja.2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 22. Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
@overboardbriggs - you have fallen for religion and until you obey the bible by following 2 Timothy 2:15 (and 2 Timonty 2:7) you will not see the forest for the trees. Who was the book of James written to? Read the greeting...if you don't know the context then all you are left to do is to spiritualize passages and confuse what is FOR you vs. what is directly TO you...you will miss the mysteries that are spelled out for you to KNOW. No excuses. Get out of religion!!
@InTheSpirit12 James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
@overboardbriggs ARE you that blind?? Read this again with glasses or something: JAmes 2:24 "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."
@overboardbriggs - You are blind to the reason behind the Apostle Paul's savation and why today atonement is immediate. Until you rightly divide the Word of Truth you will continue to spiritualize and judge incorrectly.
@InTheSpirit12 THe BIBle no where says what you just twisted into it. WHat verse says what you say, "works are necessary to glorify God, help our neighbor, and to show others we are Christians."??? What verse says"This is the three *legal* uses of the law."??? What "law" is Paul speaking about?
Paul taught us to use the law lawfully{1 Tim 1:7-8}. When done lawfully it glorifies God{Matt 5:12-16} & it helps our neighbors{Tit 3:8;Tit 3:14;} it shows others we are Christians & justifies us before men{Jam 2:18;Jam 3:13}. We are justified by God through faith alone apart from the works of the law{Rom 3:28;Rom 4} This includes the moral law for we are unable to keep it perfectly.
Using the law unlawfully will cut you off from Christ{Matt 7:21-23;Gal 2:21;Gal5:4}
@Ahavah8Ahavah ...the Mosaic/Levitical/Ceremonial laws regarding worship in the Tabernacle, the Feasts of the LORD, the food laws etc...NOT the Ten Commandments. The Ten Cs are still enforced and must be kept for salvation, but now through the spirit by faith and obediance. You should junk your apostate church theology. It is sending you to hell. NO Law violaters are going into Heaven
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
Since you want to be justified by the Law on judgment day you better come with *PERFECT* obedience. LOL!
@overboardbriggs - lol...then you have NO HOPE and the scriptures lie. You don't understand, because no one has taught you HOW to read the Bible for yourself. You have learned a system from man and now you can't see the forest for the trees. The 10 Commandments are perfect, holy and just - but we are not under them (not even in faith) to keep them anymore. Again, read Romans...But NOW (unlike times past) righteousness without the law is manifest! - and Romans 7:7 shows you that the 10 is inc!
The only way you could "believe in vain" is if Jesus Christ didn't rise. I am not going to question anyone that believes the Gospel contained in 1Cor.15:1-4...If they believed and trusted that settles it. Can you believe in vain? IMHO the answer is no.

Why?
overboardbriggs 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs - If you have the KJB, you have the VERY Word of God and when you read it as God commanded you to (in the way He commanded you to) you will stop being so confused. Get out of religion and trust the scriptures AS GOD WROTE IT, paying attention to the whole thing IN CONTEXT - not trying to put yourself where YOU personally don't belong. Christ appointed YOU an apostle (PAUL) - it's up to you to BELIEVE.

I broke God's law, Jesus paid my fine in His life blood.
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Cor 5:21

What "law" was ( is ) Paul talking about? BTW, KJV is in accurate. Get a real Bible without italics. Read all the IFs and BUTs and WARNINGs which speak to loosing your salvation (Hosea 9:15-17; Jn 15:2; and works required for salvation in James ch 2
overboardbriggs 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs

Ahavah8Ahavah 10 months ago
@InTheSpirit12 You don't know your Bible very well. Ja.2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 20. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 22. Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
overboardbriggs 10 months ago

Read this again with glasses or something: JAmes 2:24 "Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."
overboardbriggs 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs - You are blind to the reason behind the Apostle Paul's savation and why today atonement is immediate. Until you rightly divide the Word of Truth you will continue to spiritualize and judge incorrectly.

@InTheSpirit12 THe BIBle no where says what you just twisted into it. WHat verse says what you say, "works are necessary to glorify God, help our neighbor, and to show others we are Christians."??? What verse says"This is the three *legal* uses of the law."??? What "law" is Paul speaking about?
overboardbriggs 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs
Using the law unlawfully will cut you off from Christ{Matt 7:21-23;Gal 2:21;Gal5:4}
InTheSpirit12 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs - You can be sure "what law" Paul was talking about when you read Romans 7:7...now you tell ME "what law" is that from?
Ahavah8Ahavah 10 months ago
@Ahavah8Ahavah ...the Mosaic/Levitical/Ceremonial laws regarding worship in the Tabernacle, the Feasts of the LORD, the food laws etc...NOT the Ten Commandments. The Ten Cs are still enforced and must be kept for salvation, but now through the spirit by faith and obediance. You should junk your apostate church theology. It is sending you to hell. NO Law violaters are going into Heaven
overboardbriggs 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs said "NO Law violaters are going into Heaven"
Galatians 3:10-11
10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.”
Since you want to be justified by the Law on judgment day you better come with *PERFECT* obedience. LOL!
InTheSpirit12 10 months ago
@overboardbriggs - lol...then you have NO HOPE and the scriptures lie. You don't understand, because no one has taught you HOW to read the Bible for yourself. You have learned a system from man and now you can't see the forest for the trees. The 10 Commandments are perfect, holy and just - but we are not under them (not even in faith) to keep them anymore. Again, read Romans...But NOW (unlike times past) righteousness without the law is manifest! - and Romans 7:7 shows you that the 10 is inc!
