marc- beautiful piece! the raied panels inspired me to start on a project with a similar appoach. though my budget is smaller and i will be using red oak on pine or aspen.
Great piece marc, i have a piece of birdseye maple with a huge bark inclusion that has left it with a hole about an inch in diamater in the center of the board. It looks great, i just have no idea what to do with it. Any suggestions?
@Strykercom1 well you can certainly fill the entire thing with epoxy. Add a little dye to the epoxy and it looks like natural cured resin. It will be stable and if you really want to bring attention to it, its a good option. I would put some tape on one side to seal it off, then fill the other side. Level it to the surface after curing and you're good to go.
this is just me ranting to myself i mean no disrespect i have a great love for what you do but i think you are crazy for using that knoty walnut on the front doors but i do love the modern look of those side panels and legs
looks awesome marc, one thing, i was always taught when using slotted screws to dress the screws, meaning to match the slot position on all the screws normally all vertical, fantastic project tho Marc you could almost do this for a living, lol
how much did all of the timber cost, over here in wales you would have 2 remortgage yr house 2 afford 2 buy birds eye maple, that's if you can find some, gr8 project, more of the same plz marc, quick as u like, haha
@palmer3977 I try too match up the screws when I can. Its a nice touch. But with those brass screws I don't like to force them any more than they are willing to go. So I make sure they are good and snug and call it a day. :)
Amazing how much different woods cost across the globe. I guess that's what happens when our domestics are your exotics. :)

@Strykercom1 like how to incorporate it into a piece or how to stabilize the inclusion?
TheWoodWhisperer 6 months ago
@TheWoodWhisperer well both
i was thinking i would probably stabilize it with epoxy, but its like a hole all the way through the board with the bark on the inside of the board
im trying to think of a creative way to use it

Stunning man. The curved legs + tapered sections make it look a bit 'Chinese' to me, very nice.

I’m floored. That is beautiful. I hope that I can build like that one day. I agree completely with the limited number of shelf locations!
