  • this game is amazing

  • THIS was a 1983/84 video game? WTF? These grafix compete with today's.

  • What an awesome game!! This and Cliff Hanger we're my favorite laser games.

  • The Arcadde version was great but the snes version is horrendous!! Arcade games win every time

  • I have this on my I-Pod touch.

  • was this edited or are there actual black and blue screen that apear in the middle of game ?

  • Space Ace was the greatest dang laserdisc game...

    Nice cab man.

  • Ace is the coolest name!

  • LOL at atari 2600 comment! I used to play this in the arcade all the time back in the 80s like some of you. Always played on "Space Ace" difficulty and always "energized". People thought I was the master when in reality all it was, was memorization. Killer memories, fun game, great soundtrack and animation. Rock on!

  • Man, I used to play this in an arcade all the time when I was 15yo (1984), I don't know how much change I put in it, but it was one of the greatest games around at that time. Great memories!

  • I'm glad games don't play like this any more but there is a definite charm to this type of experience and everyone should at least try to complete at least one of these in some form

Can't be many that own an actual arcade version

  • Why does the blue guy remind me of Genie from Aladin?

  • but the Genie in Aladin was just a little bit nicer than him. lol

  • I remember when Space Ace came out as well as Dragon's Lair and MACH 3. Don't forget Cube Quest. They were ahead of their time.

  • Awesome game. I remember this. Along with Dungeons, and Dragons, and Astron Belt this was a great laserdisc game.

Modernday stuff still does not compare to the 80's arcade experience.

I was born in 75', and was 8 when this came out.

NOTHING, as far as I am concerned, beats this ERA.

  • wow the atari laserdisc system makes the game load slow... but still its my favorite laserdisc game!

  • Atari?????

This game was made and produced by Don Bluth Studios and Cinematronics.

  • Cinematronics sold the game in the United States, but Atari got the license to manufacture and sell it in europe.

  • Great memories or the 80's arcade, you'd often hear the Space Ace narrator over all the other noisy games.

  • How is this game-play again?

  • so THAT's why the game tries to sell itself in the intro. Now I get it. Carbon copy of the arcade game I guess. I always thought it was odd seeing a trailer in the intro when I played it on the PC.

  • My dad worked at an arcade when this came out and I was able to get mountains of free tokens and play this all day long. It was total obsession for an 8 year old. Don Bluth made the best looking games back then.

  • I love how its just one long-continuous-awesome-animated adrenaline rush.

  • I still hum Ace's theme song when he energizes even 20 years later.

    Id KILL for that soundtrack.

  • Cool, I love space Ace! Fun game.

  • made bye atari

  • First game I ever beat...F'in Classic!!!

  • I wish you'd post this on easy or something so you can get further! T_T

  • I'm guessing the original animations were slightly edited so that there would be more action. Like Cliff Hanger. In the end, I prefer Dragon's Lair because you can have more random screens so it is more challenging.

  • why HARD! but this game is very fantastic!!

  • I LOVE THIS GAME

  • i used have this game for the old IBM computher

  • i stillk got this game :D

  • Space Ace and Dragon's Lair is comming out on

Blu-Ray and HD DVD can't wait to play those.

  • Dibrini

Why didn't Bluth just make this (and Dragon's Lair) into full length films?

Hanna Barbaric had the rights to Space Ace and Dragon's lair. hence the shitty cartoons and no film. Those bastards are also responsible for Orbots going off the air, and why Japan has Machine Robo and America has Challenge of the Go-Bots.

  • Bluth is actually working on scripts for movies based on both. But has been making films of other stuff so he can get the capital

  • I've not heard much from him since Titan AE bombed.

  • In 2004, Bluth produced an animated scene for the music video "Mary", by the Scissor Sisters. He also authored a couple of "How to" guides on animation.

the game Dragon's Lair 3-D didnt fare too well, but when I e-mailed Bluth's website they said screenplays have been done and now all he really needs is to find people to fund it. The DL one will be a PREQUEL but feature all-new enemies.

  • Why didn't Bluth just make this (and Dragon's Lair) into full length films?

  • Dragons lair and DL2 and Space ace hands down best Arcade games ever made....I've never got the chance to play DL3.....I beat dragons lair at the age of 8 and Beat space ace at 10 and DL2 at 14 and i have been hooked on these type of games ever since....totally rocking..fyi this is great memories all around:)

  • there was a japanese animae style version that came out during the same time, it had fast cars and ninja's in it . think it was called cliff hanger and i don't mean the rocky movie

  • Yup it was and it was based on Lupin the 3rd anime which is still good to this day....I also beat that one as well....very nice game to play..had the controller and a hands and feet button...gotta love it:)

  • You not only knew the game but u bet the game. Cool! If I ever get rich all these 3-D games will be in my arcade

  • Yes there was a game called cliffhanger, it was a cool game too!

  • I can hear now that it says CLOSE MAIN GATE when Kimberly gets swallowed up... but in the noisy arcade I always thought it said FROGS MAINTAIN.

  • This game was freakin hard but I beat it.

  • Now that's a cool arcade machine. I want it!

  • sweet! nice to see the difference between USA and UK spaceace.

  • Nope...Don Bluth is still around.

You can see what hes up to on his official site...donbluth dot com...

    K

  • Hey is it true Don Bluth Studios is no longer? I heard something like that and that Len Simon (art director for Titan AE) is doing his own thing now.
