  • it worked on my old keyboard but i dont know if it will work for the keyboard with an lcd screen on it...

  • not gonna try it my keyb has a lcd screen and costs 120€ not gonna risk it i rather spend a day cleaning it manualy but i guess it will work for low end stuff

  • "Usually it would take me days to do this!" and by using a dishwasher it took you a week =D

  • This video should be titled "how to destroy a keyboard". The proper way is to take it apart.

  • @Jtoksa2 Actually it works just fine so you should try it before say it destroys them.

  • Haha, this also worked on my wireless keyboard xD it didnt' on my friends his wireless keyboard

  • if ur using safari, u can click the reader button in the address bar to read description.

  • makes sense to me.

  • Wow people. just take off all the keys. put them in a mesh container. unscrew your keyboard and remove the electrical components then throw the rest in the washer. blow dry. resassemble then done...no longer that a hour 15 mins.

  • mother fucking stupidwwwwwwooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • Hmmmm...Should I use the lemoney fresh or the regular? Also, A week seems a bit long. Can I stick it in a dryer? dav12345@aol.com

  • im not waiting a week.... MOM! WHERES THE HAIR DRYER?

  • Someone has edited at 2:47. In the uncut original, you get to see in Steve's airing cupboard - it is floor to ceiling with wank mags!!

  • Yup i've tried this and it worked... i think this is strange though... a normal person wouldn't do this

  • it does work with a laptop

    psych

  • before i saw this i took apart that same keyboard and put just the plastic in not the cable or connectors

  • how many times can you wash it

  • why not throw it in the clothes dryer to dry it

  • @MrBoy219 you will melt the little rubber pieces inside

  • ʎɐqə ɯoɹɟ pɹɐoqʎəʞ ɐ ʎnq ı əɯıʇ ʇsɐl əɥʇ sı sıɥʇ

  • ɯǝlqoɹd ou pǝʞɹoʍ ʇı puɐ ʇı pıp ı

  • Costs money to run it in the dishwasher.. takes tons of time to remove all keys and clean them...

unless you have a 250$ keyboard (which I would not suggest dish-washing)

IT IS CHEAPER TO JUST BUY A NEW ONE!

  • @redking15ca Even if you can find a cheap $5 keyboard, it's still cheaper than that to run it on the dishwasher, not to mention better for the environment than buying a new keyboard every few months...

  • It works perfectly on laptops and smart phones!

  • suprised it didnt melt from the heat inthe dishwasher

  • It would be a great invention if someone could make a keyboard cleaning machine.

Something like put it in upside down, Slowly fills up with sterilizing cleaning solution (not all the way up!) and drains then dries. Could be a good idea. If any of you invent this off reading this post... give me credit!!!!! haha

  • Oh my god, what is this? Are you trying to tell us that a computer keyboard can withstand 140 to 155 degrees Fahrenheit water for 45 minutes of and cleaning solutions that contain bleach, salts, borax, rinse agents :\

  • keyboards are very cheep to buy anyway. So STOP being a ceep bastard and just buy another ! PS contemplate a different haircut, Very 50's

  • @cyberjackcyberjack Does it really bother you. And since when do you have to keep up with the times? He can be who he wants, look how he wants to. So yea, basically stop being a hater.....

  • You can put a flash drive in the washing machine by accident. If you leave it to dry for long enough it will work fine :P

  • why spend hours cleaning your keyboard when it could take weeks.

  • you need a spare keyboard.....for when your washing your current keyboard!

i cracked up cause i thought he was gonna say it will break it

  • for an easy clean keyboard that you don't have to wait for a week to dry check out cleankeysinc 's website

  • Keyboard in the dishwasher ....... Ya Nutta !!!

I don't care if you lick windows, catch the special bus, wash your keyboard in a dishwasher, or occasionally crap yourself. You hang in there sunshine. You're special! :D

  • hehe this is kinda not needed if it takes 1 hour to clean it properly the right way why waste 1 week with letting it dry just feels stupid to me :P neet idea tho

  • @crazythegamers He didn't say he'd make a long job short. The description says he'd make a boring job easy :P

  • @thetoobnoob still easier the right way lol

  • This guy needs to re-evaluate his efforts. He says cleaning it by hand would have taken hours. But he lets it dry for a week!!!

  • @dreamspher he was obviously comparing labor time. and you point that out, yet you say that sticking it in the dishwasher is too much effort? and to just go buy a new keyboard?

  • A lot of effort for a $10 keyboard. Buy another one

  • I have a logitech G15 keyboard. took all the keys off, took the keyboard apart, and cleaned the top part under soapy water. took about an hour only cause it has so many keys.

  • will this work on wireless kboard? xD

  • No, too many electronic components

  • next he will be vacuuming his speakers and using toilet cleaner on his computer screen this guys crazy

  • @listenrest its not crazy beacuse microsoft actually recomands to clean it in dishwasher...

  • I highly doubt that, prove it.

  • @NeonFilmz it says it on my keyboard

  • @NeonFilmz thats because the lack intelligence

  • If this doesnt work give your keyboard a bath

  • What is the point!!! Who can wait a week for the keyboard to dry. ok ok so you can force it with a hair drier, but what the heck. A new multimedia keyboard will set you back £10. Is it really worth all that effort, Checmicals and electricity and Time.

  • i dont have a dishwasher so........

i put it in the washing machine XD

  • man buy a new wan wireless that´s obsolet

  • DO NOT TRY WITH LAPTOPS GUYS =D

  • @kazyfandango IM GONNA TRY THIS =D

  • My laptop came out really clean. It wouldn't turn on tho! Lol!

  • My 100$ is broken from spilling pop on it, It works but the keys i hit show up as different, Would cleaning it fix it?

  • I doubt it!

  • lol it didnt, i tried.

  • You're so clever Stevo! Congrats on the feature! :) Great tip!

  • How about using the water gun that you use to clean your car? :)

  • Too powerful. It would either blast the keys away, or wash all the letters off.

  • Well He Has A Keyboard That It Wont Break If It Gets Water On It

  • This can be done on most keyboards, most of the keyboards can be cleaned by water, as long as it's unplugged.

In a dish washer however, the only risks are the temprature and possible acid made by chemical reaction (Water+The cleaning tablet thingy :P)

  • Apply alcohol to cotton ball; rub the keyboard surface and the top of keys. The space between keys can be cleaned by alcohol and cotton buds.

Can't guarantee a brand new look but good enough for hygiene purpose.

  • What keyboard is that? I need the name because I'm having troubles with the exact same one.

  • look up microsoft keyboard under google and surf for it.

  • I DID THIS! PUT IT IN FRIDAY! AND BACK IN ON MONDAY! :p IT WORKS!!!!!!! U OPENED IT AND DRIED IT WITH A HAIRDRYER LOL

  • Sorry, that should be make sure you HAVE a backup keyboard first.

  • I have cleaned 2 keyboards (and two mice) in the dishwasher and they both came out looking like new. One of them belonged to my cousin and he had it for years, so it was absolutely filthy. 25 mins in the dishwasher (with soap) and I was amazed at how clean it was.

It worked for me twice, so give it a try. Like he says though, make sure you a backup keyboard first.

  • Can i dry it with a hairdryer!?

  • i think so..

  • lol. so instead of taking hours to clean it, it takes a week.... love it!

    Just kidding. ;-)

  • No need too - you have a perfect point! :D

  • The better way is to use rubbing alcohol so it dries right away without damaging your keyboard circuit.

  • Maybe I'll put just top part in and then dry it with a fan and towels and it'll take just a few hours.

  • That's NOT how to clean a keyboard. He should have simply unscrewed the screws on the back of the keyboard. Then he can just put the top half of the keyboard (that contains the keys and no electronic parts) in the dishwasher.

  • lol, tru

  • Thanks sooooooo much. I got coffee on mine. I put it the dishwasher, now it works perfect. Now I don't have to tell my mom . Thanks again. :P

  • Just buy a new one you tight ass

  • I wouldn't really call this a "project".

Btw, anyone tried cleaning a mouse in the dishwasher?

  • i did and an my back space and delete buttons dont work anfd i have a g11 jkeyboard

  • I just washed mine today, it's SO CLEAN AND SHINY! I'll let it dry for 5 days.

  • lol i love how he keeps looking away as he is telling us to have a spare keyboard b 4 doing it

  • Just try it lol, my keyboard has had just about every softdrink made by man spilt on it and its still working ok ^^

  • How the hell did it get so freaking nasty anyway? Vacuum over the keyboard once a week and use some alcohol wipes on the damn thing!

  • shit this doesnt work my keyboard doesnt work

  • XD lolz i cringed when i saw it go in but im soooo happy for you that it worked :P i'd try that but i might have to borrow my neighbours dish washer :P

  • Honestly, I'm surprised this worked, but I'm glad for you that it did.

  • But how do we know he didnt buy two keyboards! washed the dirty one and pretended the other one is the cleaned one! lol.

  • He wouldn't b.s. us, would he? :p Anyway, I agree that such a thing is possible.

  • It was dripping with water. But he could have bought 3. 1 dirty one, 2nd one to make it wet, and 3rd for proving it still works.

  • lololol

  • next step: laptop cleaning...

  • Hey great idea! I've just put my flatscreen monitor in my dishwasher, Ill let you know how it goe.............................Bugger!

  • sugar I should have watched before acting on the title...IT DOESN'T work on a Laptop!!!!!!

  • just sue me.. everybody else has... how's the hand? is it still up?? & the Sax..? still firm to the touch?? they're Great bath 'toys'!! ;p

  • You're dumb as a brick.

  • I want to try this but I have a LED lit keyboard don't know if it'd survive :P

  • so a couple of hours of cleaning or a week of waiting to dry. haha j/k but good video

  • did it really work?

  • Great video! Perhaps I'll have the guts to try it one day;

The next question might be... How many washes would it stand? Hahah.

  • Thanks :) I have only washed it once - 7 months ago & it's still working fine (i'm using it to type this!!) I did wash my Mac keyboard last month, the only thing i did extra was after the dish washer cycle (lowest temp) i run it under the cold water tap, gets rid of any soap.

  • much was ya helmet?

  • 99p, ebay, i'm thinking of asking for a refund :)

  • lol :P ur cool u mate

  • This worked on my gateway 2000 external keyboard. I took everthing out of the keyboard though. I put it back together and it looks brand new now.

  • grfte idaer mk keyvord cade ojt s9o cl3n mvst twy mi mcbile phbne nedt! tfahks fdr porstng visoe! ha ha

  • lol great :-P

  • Nice :)

  • Looks like it can really do some damage to the keyboard and the chips inside.

  • I dismantled mine 1st, removed any wires and electronics then washed it, cuts drying time down to a few hours :)

  • I put mine in the oven to dry it quick, but

it melted and burst into flames, the firemen

fined me for time wasting, *SIGH* didn't waste

anyones time, I had a fire, and then I was late for work and my boss fired me.

  • Lol?

  • Holy crap!

  • Ner i was only joking, us Brits like to be

daft and spin a few yarns. (-:

But I do believe cleaning the keyboard worked

spilt wine on mine, and sprayed it with a neutral cleaner, and once it was dry it worked perfectly.

  • dang..!! bad luck

  • That's amazing.

  • i have the exact same keyboard aswell wooooo :D

  • umm the water do nothing to key board

if you whant to break you keyboard pee on it

  • i have exact same keyboard

  • quit being do nasty and dirty and lazy

  • I just found this vid AFTER just loading a good quality keyboard into my dishwasher. And I thought that I was the only person silly enough to try this. I must admit that I only put in the top plate & I removed the keys and put them into little netting bags (the sort that come with washing powder tablets).

I was concerned that the membrane inside the keyboard would suffer the corrosive effects of the dishwasher tablets, but your's is proof that it obviously doesn't matter that much.

    Great vid :)

  • i am going 2 do in !

  • Tip.

To dry it faster why dont you just put it in the DRYER.

ill be making a video on that in a little while.NOT! Ha!

  • awsome! I wish i had a dishwasher,my keyboard

is dirty pretty much like yours.

  • Nice Video

  • It takes less than 5 minutes to remove the screws from the back of your keyboard. So here an idea. just take off the part you nees to clean and leave the electronic parts out :P. takes alot less time to dry too. Oh and you won't $^#% up you board unless you can't put it back together again... :)

  • I just put my keyboard in the dishwasher, I am so gonna sue you if it doesn't work^^

  • I put my keyboard into the dishwasher with detergent and other dishes. It came out faded. I let it dry. I reconnected it and the lights flashed when switched on but not a single key worked (tried restarting and everything). Still can't believe I rushed into this; oh well, time to buy another one after all these years and go back to cleaning keyboards normally.

  • you really need a spare keyboard. loll

  • I have done this although I dodnt have a dishwasher i gave it a proper scrub in the washing up bowl. It got very wet but I dried it last week and am typing on it now! IT WORKS!!!!!!!

  • i have a keyboard that has lights behind every button, so whenever i press a key it lights up. so i wouldn't dare trying to put it in the dishwasher!

but i tried it with my old dell keyboard and it worked... nice tip!

  • hello steve . i think it's a very good tip ... i will try it when my keyboard gets dirty ...i like your vids :D

  • i put my laptop in the dish washer (took the screen out first and removed battery) and it came out fine im on it right now looks brande new =]oh and u must make sure it drys i left it next to a window that gets alot of sun for 3days

  • Nice video dude =D

  • u should unleast put it backwards, so the water drips off

  • I have worked in the computer field and I always told people, if your keyboard is very gucky and starting to malfunction, try a dishwasher before throwing it away. No kidding.

  • I work in I.T. too and I have been telling users to do this for years. They think I am joking but it really works. If you think it's a joke try it yourself and see. Chances are your keyboard is dirty or malfunctioning anyway so what do you have to lose? For drying I normally put it in the oven on very low heat. Remember, the object is to dry it and not cook/melt it. Slightly open the oven door and turn it on LOW. The hot dry environment causes the moisture to evaporate in an hour or so.

  • this is very lazy, why not just get a cloth? how it gets that dirty in the first place is odd,it looks like its got a garden on it. also, why you would want to film it is a mystery to me.

  • Don't have a Dish Washer.. I reckon my laptop will fit in my washing machine though..

  • haha im on the same keyboard and mine REALLY neads cleaning

its a mess of dirt and biological fluids LMAO

  • damn I was hoping that the whole computer would blow up when he started typing.....ill try this when I buy a new keyboard.....

  • ooh! no!! my lap top!! ='(

  • hahaha xD

  • Lol!!!!!! =)) =))

  • i thought it will never work again but you prooved me wrong

  • Wow thats amazing. I don't have a dishwasher but it seems like a lazy way to clean your keyboard!!

  • And how old are you?

  • Mankeyman!

  • idiot !

  • So agree!

  • omg lol its a keyboard theres only a couple of things electronic on it why the hell would u put your laptop in?

  • something tells me that he is joking here, are you totally stupid? durrrr

  • What a Cock but to be honest your surely not that stupid! are you?

  • omfg retards im sure as hell he was kidding -_-

  • very amusing ha ha!!! beats t.v anytime.thank u you tube....

  • it might have taken a week, you idiot haters, but all the work was done by a dish washer!

    that's a cool idea,by the way.pity i can't do this with my laptop

  • you could just take the back off and then you dont have to wait for it to dry so long hehe

  • Njah, I don't have a dish washer :)

  • Nice Bass line to the tune on this vid very punchie hehe.

  • "It would have taken hours to clean each individual key"

Instead, it took you a week...

  • one week of waiting, and hours of working,

    big difference ;P

  • I would have thought the water would mess up the circuit bored.

  • that guy that is going to try to do it with his laptop "good lyck"=)

  • Great!! Totally cleaned my keyboard, but my dishwasher is WELL screwed!

  • I got exactly the same type of M.S. keyboard.

It's one of those tips that sounds daft but actually works, and saves lots of time and hassle.

    Thanks for posting!

  • your pretty cool for 51 years old

  • Well... That was pointless. Lmao, and if you want to use a keyboard while in a 'cleaning' progress use the onboard keyboard ;]

Id rather just buy a new one.

  • well how biazzare?!
