OMG!! People stop guessing what instruments are playing! I've trained my ears for about 2 yrs now to know which instrument is which, and just from listening to this I can tell It's ALL of the low brass. The video of the concert also stands along side my side:)

Haldir never died at Helm's deep, there were never any elves there, though Haldir did participate in three separate defenses of Lothlorien (all of which were successful). It is presumed he passed through to the undying lands after the war.
