Wow! OK, so I guess you are indeed their biggest fan! :-P So you worked on the Lord of the Rings musical? That's so cool! I bet it was awesome to watch live.
Oh, and jealous much that you personally know all of Värttinä! ;-)
@FinnishMusicFan ok Craig from Canada - recently a fan of Sari - some exposure to Varttina - am I to understand that Varttina music is in LOTR? Don't understand a word of what she or the group sing of...don't care, I love it. Educate me please.
@laelamarie1 I saw LOTR while in Canada and luckily hung out with some members, and saw their local concert. There are no Värttinä songs in LOTR. The *opening* music of LOTR was pure Värttinä-esque, however I would not say that the musical was recognizably Finnish, or folkish, or kansanmusiikki. It was new, not like anything on any Värttinä album, yet still worth a good, serious listen.
@FinnishMusicFan appreciate the information as I am becoming a 'Finnish music fan" I have also learned of Sari's doctorate and her continued music study - interesting stuff!!! Do you have ancestral roots in the Scandanavian countries or just enamored of the music? Thank you for your time!
@laelamarie1 I love Finnish music, culture, language and the Finnish people. I love to listen to music sung in Finnish and although many Finnish bands sing in English, I don't bother with them. I love to hear Finnish. I am getting very much involved in bands singing in the Sami idioms too. I love Tiina Sanila, who sings in Skolt Sami.
Sari is great....

Sari is one of my music heroes: in *any* language. From Craig in Canada.

I am Värttinä's biggest Canadian fan! They all know me, and we hung out when they were all in Toronto working on the music for "Lord of the Rings".
