  • This is my cousin Billy Stewart from Wash, DC. Billy was a Chess Recording artist in the 50's and 60's and was discovered by Bo Diddly, and his uncle Calvin (Hound Dog) Ruffin. Billy wrote and recording the 60's hits "I Do LoveYou" and this classic "Sitting In The Park". Billy died in 1970 when his vehicle plundged into the Neuce River in NC along with 3 of his band members. I am proud of my Family's Music History-Recording Artist Dane Riley

  • @enadriley Thanks for giving the back history..You had a very talented member of your family, may he rest in peace with the ancestors..He left us way too soon, I hope he was not one of those artist who was cheated by Chess records out of his royalties..

  • @blkpanther08 - Thanks, it is much appreciated. I also remember when I was about 5 or 6, sitting on the floor at the end of the piano while Billy rehersed all of these cool songs. I have great memories. Peace!

  • Sometime near the year 1968 our band the Soulville All Stars was the opening act for Billy at a club called THE RAVEN in Chambers Hill...outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I was in the dressing room talking with Billy only 5 minutes before he went onstage. He wasn't at all concerned about himself. He saw that I was excited about being in the opening act and he tried to calm me down by asking questions about me.

He is the nicest person I've ever met! GOD BLESS BILLY FOREVER

  • love this song....... ALOT

  • They played this at a graduation party. All night. By then, I was a die hard fan of Mr. Stewart. It started with Strange Feeling and I Do Love You. I had the privilege of seeing this man perform in person at the Regal more than once. OMG, he was dapper, suave and had his own band. He jammed. Someone tried to insult him and call him a name. Fool. Mr. Stewart tore him down so bad, I still cringe! Hollah. Thanks for the upload.

  • Its so funny they had alot of true heart felt like songs back in the day and what I cant seem to get is that the world in the 50's 60's were dark grim and on the verge of total destruction of the world with wars and nations fighting for freedom across the globe.

And people talk about 2012. HA!

The only thing I can say is that god wrote those songs to make sure we didnt tip

    over.

It floors me that this song is STILL dope (to use your word) so so many years later and that I had the taste to buy his records and appreciate his beautiful voice and talent at the wee age of 15/16 yrs old.

  • I love oldies, I only wish that it was videos back in the day

  • @arville49 I understand how you feel, however, on the other hand we would listen to songs (like this beauty) and visualize what we wanted. In my opinion, much, much better. A song would remind you of something that was happening when you first heard it, so you could relive it. Usually a cute boy. ha ha

  • i love oldies,

  • A lot of reggae artists remake this song. Of course..nothin is better than the original

  • love all of Billy's songs, wish they had done videos then!!

  • ahh, i absolutely love this song

does anyone know any producers that have sampled this? that sound amazing.

  • i love this song :D

  • @soulmziklova And do you know who his drummer was? Maurice White, of Earth, Wind & Fire fame.

  • My dad loves this song. That's how I came to love it. And he sounds great. I love that piano, my ears can hear a piano in any song.

  • I would love for a guy to sit in the park and wait for me. Although he seems like he's getting tired of waiting for this chic, he seems like he'd still wait. *sigh* How romantic. I hate this guy died.

  • My adolescence. About 13. Yes in deed.

  • WOW................Miss you Billy

  • @champishome

    ...? weird ahha

  • @champishome And why exactly are black men gods???
