Man, could the fat boy sing! I remember hot summers in Philly and basement parties where I developed my rap and had some of my first and best slow dances. Damn!
I used to hear his early stuff on KGFJ out of LA in the 60's. When Georgie Fame from England came out with this song on his album, Yeah, Yeah, I knew that limey knew his stuff...
I love Billy Stewart! Has anyone else ever, ever, had a style this great? I am just discovering him, still I can say that I miss him! Rest in Peace, your songs touch my heart.
I did not understand the 60's what the hill is wrong with us. Color what is it. may does it matter? Did not understand it then or now. Billy Stewart thank you
Reminds me of bricklaying at Churwell Park, Morley. They were the best working days of my life, back in 1987. Great memories. Where did those days go? Peace and love to all.

This is my cousin Billy Stewart from Wash, DC. Billy was a Chess Recording artist in the 50's and 60's and was discovered by Bo Diddly, and his uncle Calvin (Hound Dog) Ruffin. Billy wrote and recording the 60's hits "I Do LoveYou" and this classic "Sitting In The Park". Billy died in 1970 when his vehicle plundged into the Neuce River in NC along with 3 of his band members. I am proud of my Family's Music History-Recording Artist Dane Riley
@enadriley Thanks for giving the back history..You had a very talented member of your family, may he rest in peace with the ancestors..He left us way too soon, I hope he was not one of those artist who was cheated by Chess records out of his royalties..
@blkpanther08 - Thanks, it is much appreciated. I also remember when I was about 5 or 6, sitting on the floor at the end of the piano while Billy rehersed all of these cool songs. I have great memories. Peace!
@curehead because they dont LISTEN to music like we do... They just HEAR it n NOT LISTEN to it... Im happy that my mom stood her ground when i was a kid n wanted to change the radio in the car... Now i just cant stop listening to the music...
Sometime near the year 1968 our band the Soulville All Stars was the opening act for Billy at a club called THE RAVEN in Chambers Hill...outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I was in the dressing room talking with Billy only 5 minutes before he went onstage. He wasn't at all concerned about himself. He saw that I was excited about being in the opening act and he tried to calm me down by asking questions about me.
He is the nicest person I've ever met! GOD BLESS BILLY FOREVER

Right out of the Beach Music Hall of Fame,The guy they called Fat Boy with one of those songs that just melts your mind. The pride of Smithfield,N.C. The late great Billy stewart
billy Stewart and I were in the same music class in Terrell Jr High in Washington D C He was a great pianist but a bully he use to punch me in the right thigh when we shared the piano yes we also had bully's back in the early 50's he died in a violent car accident., but I still love his music.
Billy brings back many memories living in NYC where guys would sing his songs under the street lights on the corners and yes the blue light parties. All pure and innocent. He is like the other side of Barry White
PERFECT, that's the only way to describe this song. Love the Hammond B3 Organ/Leslie backdrop behind Billy, AMAZING song, AMAZING artist.......this song is now the standard for Carolina's Beach Music....RIP Billy Stewart
They played this at a graduation party. All night. By then, I was a die hard fan of Mr. Stewart. It started with Strange Feeling and I Do Love You. I had the privilege of seeing this man perform in person at the Regal more than once. OMG, he was dapper, suave and had his own band. He jammed. Someone tried to insult him and call him a name. Fool. Mr. Stewart tore him down so bad, I still cringe! Hollah. Thanks for the upload.
Its so funny they had alot of true heart felt like songs back in the day and what I cant seem to get is that the world in the 50's 60's were dark grim and on the verge of total destruction of the world with wars and nations fighting for freedom across the globe.
And people talk about 2012. HA!
The only thing I can say is that god wrote those songs to make sure we didnt tip
