@andrewbnsf I don't know. Personally I have never thought about it much other than it is not the usual train horns you here today, on class ones. But my personal favorite to here is the Nathan P5 (old castings) that is rare but was common on the Rock Island.
Wonder where they have 702 now? I saw 701 running last autumn but from what I read in Trains Magazine it sounds like only it operates now. 702's lights sure are cool!
Just beautiful watching and listening to the little tough ALCO work. I've seen one of these work at the Brandon RailCar shop in Omaha. It was built fron old Rock Island units. Thanks a bunch!
amazing, do you have any idea how difficult it may be to track down this locomotive if i was to take a long trip there. Is the RR cool with rail fans as most arent these days? Thanks so much for posting this.
It starts along the river front in downtown Burlington, Iowa. It runs from the interchange with the BNSF at the south end and ends North end at the Case plant. They do have 2 C-415's on site. As far as I know they don't have any problems with railfans.
What kind of horn is being run on the 702?

Wow, with that light package it has to be an ex-SP loco. That P3 horn needs a bit of cleaning
