motown pimped him out, for sure... you ever heard the J5 version of 'touch', which the supremes also did? the J5 version made the supremes sound rated G.

despite the lyrics bothering me though, i do like the arrangement of this song. 'looking back to yesterday' was a total motown cash in, but it did prove that they kept some decent stuff in the vaults. the same with the 'soulsation' boxed set. there were some gems there.

Motown made him sing very ADULT lyrics. He was made into a sex symbol at a young age. A mini James Brown to entertain and seduce both adults and children. I'm sure that caused a fair amount of psychological damage.

I saw this comment a while back, and I couldn't agree more. It made me change my feelings towards this song. I love it so much, but it makes me very sad that the harsh reality was that he was singing about things way beyond his years. If you read "Moonwalk", his autobiography, it doesn't take long to realise that the life he began at five, e.g. being exposed to strip clubs with his brothers due to his fathers intense want to make them stars, may have had something to do with the way he was.

omg yes, i love soulsation. i'm sure motown still has many gems, they recently released a J5 album around october and there were some really good songs there. don't forget about the stevie wonder/J5 album they're hiding as well.

yes... mike learned so much from STEVIE too, when they were at motown. STEVIE was one of his many teachers, and mike was a sponge, for sure.

i can only imagine what motown is hiding in their vaults... or even REMEMBER what's in their vaults...
