when u use a ball it is cheating because a original rubberband ball is supposed to be made with just rubberbands so if you start it with a ball it makes it easier to start and it also makes it bigger quicker

see thats one mistake ur making.a rubber band ball should be made only from rubber bands.twist a rubber band to form the baase. dont use rubber balls...im building one too and its only rubberbands...no coins or bouncy balls
