@123petar123 It's more that failure is taking the safe route, sticking to the predefined path and not deviating from it, while success is exploring and taking risks. It comes back to the whole artistic theme of the game and nothing in it should be taken at face value.
@123petar123 they dont die on the sucess u know thw girl in white u can play as her u go to grandma house then shes back in the aprtment coverd in blood and one by one they all come back
The wolfs seem to symbolize a critical issue for each girl. Failure to confront this fear allows the girls to go to Grandma's and see the stuffed wolf. This looks nothing like their real fear, but lets them go on thinking that they are in some way, succsesful. This is a lie. Only by defying the path can the girls escape the cycle for good, by confronting their real wolf. Think Jacob's Ladder, videogame style.
@MetalSlimeHunt yeah but are they all doomed to die after confronting their issues? all the images that you can see in the flash parts, or even when they are reaching grandma's house/crossing it seem really pessimistic, even when you try to look at them in a symbolic way
do you mean that the only way to "escape the cycle for good" is dying?
dude, this game is really hard to understand... even though I love it.
They are most likely already dead. The "wolf" is the thing that keeps each of them them tied to the cycle. They fear the wolf, but it is their only escape. Otherwise, they just keep on going to Grandma's house forever. They want to cling to the cycle because it makes them feel safe, but only through danger can they find freedom.
we can all give like thousands interpretations of this, they would all make sense. ( more or less)
that was the goal of the creators. to make the players "Not to passively follow
the rules and obey any orders, but to actively investigate and find meaning for themselves. Its about finding something that pertains to your own life, that is meaningful to you.", as they said.
at the end you think whatever you want about it... that's clever.
bullshit game! wie kann man nur so ein schrott noch verkaufen?! die hätten wenigstens noch zombies aufstellen können die bräuchten ja nicht mal angreifen das wäre ja auch schon zu viel verlangt... ahaha
This game seems only to be played once. Say yeah, kinda of a rip-off don't you think? I play games to have fun, not sit around and watch people do boring things. It looks more like a $2.00 game to be fair.
The 'success' videos will be forthcoming as soon as fucking Squeeze finishes taking it's damn time compressing them, but for Carmen, walk up to the woodcutter, 'use' him to take his hat, then go sit on the boxes by the fire and wait. When he finishes working on his tree, he'll come sit next to her, and... well, you know the rest.
It's supposed to be an artistic game containing a lot of symbolism and metaphor, but I feel it fails in that regard in that it's far too vague to have the desired effect. It was marketed as a 'short horror game' by its creators, but is more like an interactive movie. It feels like a modern art project. Sure, you could argue that "anything is art", but that doesn't make it good or even worthwhile art.
Like I said I actually enjoy a game that makes you think a little. I just think they should have tried to make it a little clearer. Also I've never played this game how much actual game play is there and is it hard
The gameplay consists of walking through the woods looking for random stuff. If you have trouble finding it, the game actually leads you strait to it. There is no difficulty to speak of, really, since you just keep looking till you find everything then you watch the ending movie. That's the entirety of it.
I think it's one of those games that some people really, really love, and others really, really hate.
It has great atmosphere, and you can spend hours plumbing the depths of each character and the symbolism of the world. That said, the game itself is rather slow, and it can be a problem getting your character to actually interact with certain objects (especcially the girl in white, since she runs around a lot).
The gameplay isn't the focus of the game; it's the symbolism and the atmosphere.
@skudwerd 'Failure' endings occur when you ignore the 'wolf' entirely and just walk strait to Grandma's house. Check the 'Success' version for the wolf.
@cannedshoes you just walk around teh woods lookin for stuff its more of a story book than a game...in fact its not really a game at all..you just walk around the forest until each girl meets there "wolf". The game is heavy in effects and symbolism but makes for a lousy game in the traditional sense
@lmetalman21 But why are they walking around? Did something bad happen in the beginning and that's why they are going to grandma's house? and who is their wolf and what does the wolf do?Why are they going to grandma's house?
@cannedshoes to ur first question the game offers no reason other then that grandma is sick and the girls need to see them. 2nd question the wolf is different for each girl joudad uploaded all the wolf encountery for the different girls. As for what they do thats up to interpretation. im sorry i cant answer more clearly youtube is being a dick about posting (this is my 3rd try) u should check out "lets analyze teh path" it will answer all ur questions
@lmetalman21 It's not like i saw your last comment or anything, but over the research I've done I've learned that this game is mainly focused around growing up hence the different aged girls and all their separate demises. Like Carmen, we can all assume that she and the forest man had sex and the forest man ended up killing her. This is based on Carmen's bad decisions. Such as all she ever thought about was flirting, partying, and alcohol. I know this is a late reply, but I thought Id amuse you.

Why grandma, what a large interior your house has.
How can the house be an effing labyrinth if the house is just a small cottage?

@justifiedkilling I think it's one of those things where it just looks smaller on the outside xD

Judging by the moaning noises, she enjoyed that.
What the HELL is meant to be going on? This game looks like it was designed to make brains hurt.

So what does the wolf symbolise? Because it's in a different position for every girl.
EmmyUnderWater 2 years ago
most analysis of the game consider the wolf encounters to be representative of important events pertaining to each girl.
as for the position of the stuffed wolf in the failure endings, I don't believe they represent anything very important...but that is just my opinion.

More likely wolf represents fuflilement of dreams for each girl. and associated price of that.
if you go straight you will only get stuffed wolf.

The scariest thing in this game is the house. For me, when the object of fear is the house itself, that outright terrifies me.
