I am very interested in this match between these 2 countries because of the "history" these 2 have against each other; it is a bit like USA-Mexico or Argentina-Brazil in football.
it is going to be a close match but IMO I would say that USA has a slightly advantage.
this world cups been great, everyones been competitive, bar the italians against the mighty aussies, i expect russia to also give a good show, russia vs usa will be very interesting
Even though I've lived in NZ for 16 years and been in NZ since I was 1 I really want Russia to win the world cup. They deserve it because no one expects anything from them, underdogs always deserve gold so go Russia!
Russia dont have the players to be third. Australia have a better chance than Ireland to get the 1st spot in the group but then again never bet against the Irish as the Irish are brilliant in defence attack and kicking with Ronan O Gara and Jonathan Sexton. Italy nearly certain a third place but could be quite a match vs Ireland. USA and Russia dont really have a chance. In my opinion Russia will come last.
i do think they have what it takes to perhaps cause an upset with USA, but it would be a few more years of steady improvement before they could challenge the likes of italy
Please they're gonna get stomped. They wont even beat the eagles, USA has been to more world cups and scored tries. They definitely won't beat Italy either. However I hope USA can pull a win from Italy and score that third seat.
Though a lot has changed since I made this video, Italy (another team I thought Russia could upset) have hugely improved their backline, and I didn't see exactly what went wrong when they got a 70-point drubbing against Japan, and one game doesn't tell everything, but surely that doesn't show good signs for Russia.
But they have a professional league which helps, and they looked good in the Churchill Cup.

but just a little bit of a FYT when usa played russia in the churchill cup Russia had 3 full weeks of practice as a full team while the usa didn't because they had many of thier star players overseas on sevesn duty and they whern't around for the whole practices ahead of the churchill cup and the US still won.
and not to mention usa has had a few players sign pro contracts since witch should put them ahead of them =]!!!
