We used to spray canned "snow" on stencils like these to make such designs on our windows at Christmas time. This commercials brings back such great memories! I wonder whether kids today would enjoy doing this.
Wow! I so remember this - my mom bought some of these stencils and let me decorate the windows at our Hometown, IL apartment complex at W 88th Street. Thanks for the great memories!
I remember using Glass Wax stencils every Christmas when we were kids. We mixed in food coloring to get more colors than just the pink color right out of the can.
This was ALWAYS a tradition during the christmas holidays of the late 50's and 60's at our house as i grew up, we all participated, mom & dad & all the kids. Somethings i guess you never forget. You stirred alot of good memories here with this commercial. WOW!!! Funny i can remember when my folks continued for years with the stencils, but switched to the spraycan snow TOO!!!!! HAHAHAHA:):):):):)
It wasn't as easy as George Fenneman made it sound! If your windows sweated--as ours did when I was growing up--the Glass Wax ran down the windows like mascara from a crying woman's eyes... we kept the stencils and used spray snow instead...not pretty in pink like Glass Wax, but an easy way to create our own "window wonderland."
That's veteran announcer George Fenneman (best known as Groucho's announcer/foil on "YOU BET YOUR LIFE") pitching "Glass Wax" in this 1966 ad- and the girl is famed child actress Pamelyn Ferdin.
I found some stencils in a store and ordered glass wax (still looks like in the commercial) from Vermont country store (on line and catalogs) My daughter and friend had a great time. Just like when I was a kid.
As I watched this I was wondering if they still made glass wax....thanks for letting us know where to get it! What great memories, thanks for posting!
The wonderful George Fenneman.

We did this at our house too. I wonder if car wax would work? Think I'll try it on a large mirror this year with spray snow.

I am so thrilled that you have all this old classic/vintage stuff. Glad it hasn't been lost forever like so many movies, etc have been.
