  • gah haha I swear I thought you saved it, I've lost where my wheels are pointing many times, luckily I only AutoX so no crashes :P

  • Unlucky mate, just be grateful that it didn't turn out to be worse!!. I wonder what your entry speed was?

  • @WRCleeching95

No idea really i'm normally to busy looking up the road ;) but speed wasn't must greater than the previous lap. But tyres had give up grip due to heat and now VERY high pressures. A you see I missed the apex by a country mile.

  • this happens to anyone , letting go of the steering wheel and then try and steer back is a mistake thats hard to avoid , hope the car was repaired and back on track after that

  • Nice drift FAIL

  • @MaJoOoDy23 he wasnt trying to drift its a race track he lost control and if you cant notice that in this video then you shouldnt watch it...MajoODy23 comment Fail

  • reWRXSubaru08 well said 100% correct @@@@ School kid keyboard jockeys

  • Yay!!!!!

  • I have a question for whoever lives in United States? Is there classes that teach you how to drive like on tracks and do it properly? if there are can anyone give me few links. I am 19 and want to learn how to drive properly and not just be a wana be. I live in New Mexico. so anything in Texas, Colorado or Arizo works. thanks

  • @ruskiroma There are several Skip Barber classes usually at most of the popular race tracks. Though just FYI the classes can cost a few hundred $. Good luck to you

  • damn that sucks

  • Руля вправо и газу. Вытянул бы.

  • dame dat was unfortunate aye ratchet but i must say youz wer neck an neck but end of the day you wer wining

  • it's as though the camera man knew what was going to happen.... :)

  • With working transfer box you should have accelerated more to gain control over the car but I guess you already know this. Mistakes make drivers great. Nevertheless you did very good before te crash, pushing the car to its limit, taking the last corner faster and faster. Good job, dont mind them who say otherwise...

  • @ggerely THANKS :D 1. I did pushed harder into corners

    2. The Tyres got too hot and lost all their grip that corner. (I missed apex by a contry mile)

    3. I "lost" steering wheel posistion. Now my hands never leave wheel now.

Total Driver error but "YOU LIVE AND LEARN"

I know it would be pretty but I could save that now :D and I would put myself into that position again but still try 110%

  • @T5NYW I could totally tell Google Translate translated this!

  • @T5NYW le hubieras acelerado. y el carro te responderia

  • thats the job!!! you have to push beyond the limit to know were it is!!! i like your style!!!

  • @fordrs500cosworth Thanks I do try and enjoy myself :D unlike most of the keyboard drivers here ;)

  • @T5NYW lol Keyboard drivers..thats awesome . Nice driving

  • I understand not knowing what to do when your under steer machine suddenly over steers. must be quite confusing

  • Haven't read thru all the comments, so sorry if you addressed this, but it seemed like you almost saved it. If you gave it gas just before running off the track, do you think you could have saved it?

  • that would never happend, if he could drift :D

  • @esci85 .... I wasn't trying to drift it, just dailing out understeer. but by doing that, the tyres went "off" and had lost ALL grip on last corner. hence missing the Apex by 10 meters.

  • @esci85 why drift? drift makes you lose speed :|

  • @tttttttttttt93 maybe, but in this case, beter lose speed than lose the car ;)

  • @esci85 he tried to do a fast lap :| he wasn't expecting to crash and he was unable to drift cause he lost control of the car no1 could get back on that track in that situation

  • Prosurfer, when you've driven an impreza instead of your Prius you will understand.

  • how the fuck do you lose control of an awd car?!

  • PICTURE PERFECT snap oversteer or tank slapper whatever you wanna call it

  • @T5NYW

Just out of curiosity: Did you step off the throttle before it snapped ?

  • Damn gutted mate.

  • Comment removed

  • You almost had kept it in check before the crash Tony.

Good to hear you restored it and didn't lose faith in scoobies!

  • @caliden Into my 11th year of owning scoobs and looking to buy the new saloon with the MK2 engine in August

  • Man I would have just let it go. Looks like if you didn't try to save it you would have just stopped.

  • @05subiegt or he could have rolled by dipping the tires off the track sideways if he hadn't tried saving it.

  • @grwlngbxr27STi i don't know to me it looks like he would have stayed on the track.. but i guess you never know

  • There's a famous quote, but I'll be buggered if I can find it. Anyway, it's along the lines of

"Only by knowing what is too much, can we know what is enough".

  • @DepakoteMeister I think that is a compliment :D

and maybe a bit anal but the quote is from william Blake 1757-1827 "You never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough"

    Tony

  • @T5NYW That is a top quote

  • 0:44 aca hurricane

  • its a subaru you have to through it into the corner a little or it will under-steer horribly. not like a evo with AYC that cuts in like a knife. I hate plastic evo's but they are better on the track. but I still love my suby.

  • @prodriver1 Not that much different on the track between scoobies and Evo's. but EVo's are easier vto "upgrade" for track work ;)

    Tony

  • @T5NYW ya. I will always love my suby on the daily grind though.

  • Comment removed

  • @ T5NYW Had to pass comment on this, have seen this posted on you tube many times by others with comments about should have done this and that would'nt have happened. Fuck em, nice to see quick car driven on the edge and yeah shit happens, no point in doing a track day and driving slow enough to drive Miss Daisy. Yep i joined your club and had to reshell my 3 door cossie after a track day and like you am still out there driving it sideways whenever i can.

  • @jasemat Thanks :D keep it up ;)

PS3 jockies don't realise that real life is much harder ;) LOL

    Tony

  • best thing that ever happened to a subaru. looks like the subie and the wall were meant for each other.

  • I keep watching this, so unlucky but you definatly have balls!!!!!!

  • I love how you can tell when your entering the corner before you can see your car. Tires screaming LMAO. Great driving.

  • @99MCougar Thanks i love living on the edge

  • @99MCougar Cheers, some Driving lessons were taken after the horse had bolted. But we live and learn :D still doing trackdays today ;)

  • @T5NYW Wicked, I'd love to take some track lessons. One day :). That's great to hear your still at it!

  • A little too slow with the steering is what caused that crash.

  • fourth times a charm

  • als je die kon redden was het de beste drift ever!

  • ahhhhh man! U almost had it!

  • U drive well actually. Every1 has to crash once LoL And no fear at all in the corners. Thumbs up :D

Glad u fixed up the Scooby and got back out there :)

  • @ThomasGalantus THANKYOU :thumb: and still doing trackdays athough using a 2006 Subaru type20 at the moment ;)

    Tony

  • oh noo poor subaru :(

didn't you see that you were pushing over the edge?

damn, then wrong recover....not for an AWD.

    sorry.

  • I'm a V8 fan ... but i Love this subaru, the one that you are driving.. WRX STi.

And i have to say... YOU HAVE BALLS!!! you take that turn fearless!!!

There are at least 5 or 6 vids of this very same turn and all of them crashed (evo's, nsx, etc) I know, accidents happen... but Hell you can drive!!!

  • @putaschichispelonas Big thanks for the Complements :D Yes but I do need smaller Balls and more skill ;) 6+ years on and still putting my Subaru's on the Track.

I have another video on here of my 2006 Subaru you may like :D

    Tony

  • i have a question... after ur crash and after it was repaired... did the car feel the same?

  • @divine101 Yes exactly the same, I had killed most of the speed and the tyre wall did its job well. I drove it home no problem. Bar repairing hole in window upright and the new rear 1/4 panel welded in, ALL other damaged componets were bolt on, doors bumper, bonnet wheels etc were just cosmetic items.damaged by the bolts that held the tyrewall together. The 4W alignment only needed a slight tweak to be100% correct IIRC

  • thats the way, just stuff the car harder and harder into that corner -- sure works well!

  • get ken block on that track and he'll show you what drifting is!

  • @sejfiu100 LOL as said at least a thousand times I WASN'T DRIFTING i lost grip :D Who's Ken Flock????

    Tony

  • Well tony as i can say is... "grab the bondo, we can fix this" lmao, nice save though, i have high appreciation for '04 Subi owners, i love these cars but will prolly never own one :(

  • @92MustangLover

Hi this was a 2002 STiUK car with PPP about 300bhp

I've been lucky and owned 4 Subarus and Tracked them all :D

    Tony

  • Аффтор убейся!

  • no brake more gas!!

  • Should have kept your foot in the gas, you knew you were ok.

  • 0:19.... woooooooooow

  • Noob Driver

  • Same way I crashed mine…I learned never drastically counter steer on a 4wheel drive drift unless you planning to slap around like you did. Next time keep on the power. Had I Practiced on rain or snow I would have learned that before crashing too. Although tolerance is much tighter on dry roads the concept is some what the same. With that said I’m surprised you managed to hit the wall on the side. I was almost sure you where going to hit front first….good save!

  • @acorona4ever

I had lost where which way the wheels were facing :( I have done a Louts1st training day and now one hand is always on the wheel. I know now, in same situation I'd keep it on the Black stuff may not be pretty.

I'm glad you understood I "lost traction" and wasn't trying to "Drift" the car.

    Tony

  • @T5NYW the corner in 0:19 was insane!!!!!!!!!!!! nice driving!

  • @raphaeme thankyou :D I have plenty of enthusiasm, just need my skill to catch up ;)

This was 6 years ago, I am still doing trackdays and no crashes since, I most have improved :D

    Tony

  • @T5NYW so, I live in Brazil. Here to buy a STI you have to spend something about 80.000 dollars (around 160.000 reais (brazilian money)

and everytime I see a STI I feel something different. The sound, the style of the car...

It's one of my dreams have one... or just drive at least one time

  • @raphaeme I have owned 4 Subarus from 1999-2010 and my Family car for work or shopping. and Trackdays on weekends so concider myself very lucky, See my other video's

keep your dreams alive, someday you'll make it happen

  • @raphaeme would it be cheaper to import one from a Neighbour Country. 80K Dollars is Very much for a STi. they are a bit cheaper in Germany, where i am. here They cost around 60K Dollars^^

  • @acorona4ever that what you said is exactly what I was going to say

  • In this particular scenario we have an inertia drift, which happens when the momentum of the vehicle overrides the given grip available, resulting in a 'screeching' effect coming from the four rubber tube shaped devices located at the lower segment of the vehicles corresponding four corner layout. When such instances occur, a rythmytic braking motion and the prompt removal of any unwanted acceleration is advisable, this, combined with corrective steering measures should un-fuck your car.

  • he was pushing hard on the other laps. good skills.

i knew it was going to be the blue one you were going big.

i have done track day events in my gutted 90 crx and i know shit can hapen fast, realy fast,

  • @leadandbrass1 Your right;) i just run out of talent when it went wrong BUT i'm still doing trackdays 6 years on and still having fun ;)

    Tony

  • Why so many turns always wheels wrong in the end of "drift"?

  • nice car

  • Somehow I knew it was gonna be the blue one.

  • @mathyu0179 haha, you really knew that? the camera was pointed the whole time at it you stupid!

  • Nice car, feel bad for it! Glad to hear your allright!

  • i want one

  • learning the hard way that awd drifting is only on video games .... shouldnt have lifted the throttle ... the transverse on an awd car is pretty rapid . im sure you know this very well now ... but hey it made one hell of a video : P

  • @Red97Avenger

Your right ;) I'm now "infamous" for this crash :D

  • @T5NYW ill admit , that slide was fucking awesome ! only the best drivers always push the limits . im personally attracted more to mitsubishis , but i doubt anyone can deny the sound and power a boxer engine can produce .

  • All he had to do was turn with the skid instead of trying to turn out of it & he would kept drifting or spun all the way around & no damage. Bad reaction to cut the wheel all the way left.

  • you could totally see that one coming...each time in he had less and less control..poor car

  • ha ha that's why you never see formula1 drivers driving this aggressive

  • that was a rough lookin' crash! Any damage done to you haha?

  • @denis1110 no not a scratch to me or my Passenger. ;) the tyre wall did ia great job :D a race circuit is a very safe envirolement to drive to your limits. :D And not like most muppets on here that risk innocent lives on the public Highways ;)

  • owned... get a real car!

  • @papertigers426 LOL, get A car before you talk shit.

  • @rockshox911 funny how you dont even know if i have a car or not and yet you still post that... I'm sure you own a porsche 911 right?

  • @papertigers426 i actually own a wrx, nice try though.

  • over correcting ftw lol

  • @jonnyrebel01 LMAO

  • You could see it was an accident waiting to happen....

  • who drive this wrx ? next time becarefull!!!

  • you could have tried to give it more gas, could have saved it...

  • You nearly caught it too. Was the impact much heavier than it looked? £10k to repair seems like an awful lot, but then I don't know much about it.

  • Only cosmetic damage !! bar hole in front pillar so rough cost IIRC. windscreeen £600, Front bumper £1500, fog lamp cover £350, alloy bonnet £600, 2 bare Doors £900, 2 windows £200, rear 1/4 panel £500, rear bumper £500, front wing £250, 2 wheels and tyres £1200, £150 sill, Paint £600 + bits & bobs £700 = £8000 ish so about £2000 labour. + VAT Yes not cheap

  • @T5NYW DAMN! 10k to repair! I could've got it done for 3k I guess :-D Think you bought all the parts from dealers who rip you off, scrapies FTW

  • @SumsGTR Yes all new parts from Subaru dealership and no expense spared. As my insurance was paying and I only had to pay my £500 excess, not my worry ;)

    Tony

  • @T5NYW Really! you should've got all Carbon fibre parts in that case from Seibon :D

  • that guys fuckin driven the hell outta that car... damn.... guys got balls

  • I just need a bit smaller Balls and a bit more skill :D

    Tony

  • at least you got a bunch of humor :-)

    Dude I feel for you

  • Ouch, that was pretty painful to watch (especially as it looked like you nearly saved it).

That corner seems to be the place to crash at Castle Coombe!

  • idiot he should keep the car rolling out of the corner than corner the car and crash it

  • If you would have straitened the wheels in the beginning of 'THE' 38 second - you would have gotten out of this situation with glory ;)

In a powerful slide , after a contra, you sometimes have to start straiting the wheel a moment before your mind tells you too :) - sometimes against your own logic.

Anyways nice try & I'm keeping my finger crossed for you.

  • I MENT THE 48 SECOND !!!

  • You are completely right ;) This was first time in this situation :D I do not make a habit of provoking this much oversteer when on a Track. I misjudmed it and tyres were losing grip. I then did not have enough experience to get out of the mess i'd put myself into. but i know now ;)

  • watch my other video on Youtube KQbUrFsN0cI

  • unlucky mate , ,, glad to see someone driving a car on it limit , , there not just there to look nice , , , had my first go at combe not so long back , , it was coverd in ice so very scary

  • same crash place as the nsx? what is going on here, curse!!

  • This could have easily stayed off the wall.

  • show off gone wrong but he got it ,just couldnt handle it but he almost got it

  • Dude, well done. Good to someone can post a video and own up to the mistake. I sincerely feel for you as i am smitten with subes. My hat is off to you for doing it on a track, not like half the morons you see doing it in public.

    Look forward to more vids.

P.S. Your not far off being a race driver...nice lines.

  • Many thanks for the complements :D there are two videos of my other Scoobs :D

As you say better on Track than on the roads, There are tooo many chav family killers out there IMHO

  • hi, im form argentina, the problem was that the driver turn the wheels to the oposite way, when the car slides, i think that the wheels hasve to be more free. sorry for mi bad english

  • Ouch you can clearly see that you were gaining more confidence on that turn and killing it and it was working. Shame you lost it :(

  • Thanks :D as said below shit Happens and I live and Learn ;) better to practice skills off the Public hiway in a safe enviroment :D

  • You drove it well but shit happens. Looks like you became more brazen after each lap =p I wonder if you could have saved it if you just kept on the gas...

  • Thanks :D I would have done better if i'd known in which direction the Front wheels were facing ;) i use a Andy Walsh technique now :D

  • @SlyEvoIX too much over steer aye

  • yea man you did pretty well, ignore the big headed dicks who say stuff like "wat the fuck u doing u should of done this" they dont undestand how hard it is when u loos a 4wd car, once there sliding thats it you gotta wait for it to stop (i train pepole at the rally school in gloucster) u can drive but its just a mistake. its hard to think wen everything is happening so quick.

  • Thanks, Yep seems an internity on the Video ;) Most only get to do this sort of thing either behind a keyboard or on a red letterday :D

Owned 4 scoobs and only Road cars, all have been Tracked since 2001- Today. As soon as this one was repaired it was back out on track and do trackdays 4-7 times a year ;)

BTW I live in Hereford I'll have to have a dayout there :D

    Tony

  • wtf is wrong with you... where u even braking for that corner??? you used the understeer, instead of brakes didnt you??? lol you can only do that for a few laps before your tires r gone.... not that fastest way around the corner anyway.

  • Nothing wrong with me, I was out there enjoying myself, as I always do :D yes did brake before that Corner but not enough on the last lap :Dbut as you rightly say tyres go off hence no grip, i no longer us those tyres on th track, We live and learn :D And no i wasn't trying to "Drift" it ;) Understeer is a common trait with 4x4 I was just using a little flick to combat it, I was in control on the previous laps ;) I'm no racing driver (as you can tell) I'm just an enthusiast :D

  • nice over correction ;)

  • Any1 see that civic anywayz u could of saved it if u slamed the brakes or floored it I have a my07 Subaru forester xt and it's awsome around the track I usually beat wrxs

  • i did floor it, at last minute but the front wheels are facing the tyrewall , as i failed to remove the opposite lock,( I had NO idea where the wheels were facing) and that's where the power took me. @@ I use a Andy Walsh system of steering wheel control, much better @@

  • Its good to see that you know what went wrong and can learn from it!

    See you there again!

  • Very Nice driving. Have you considered racing on the track with a RWD car? You said you had some training since this incident, you would pretty much dominate in the corners with a well balanced RWD such as the RX7, or S2k, Boosted IS300 etc...

but the exiting corner speeds are unmatched with an AWD

  • After this one I did driving training with Andy Walsh @ 1stLotus. North Yeald ??

Many thanks for the compliment, I have plenty of enthusiasm but sadly not enough skill :D

As this is my shopping and daily commute car I have considered getting a ginetta and doing a race series. but hard to justify one Car let alone two

    Tony

  • lmao, ya right

  • Yep almost did recover, good driving none the less

  • almost recoverd it

  • if you just throttled up you would be fine. How is the car doing today? You still got it?

  • "If" I had not froze for a second . @@

And "iF" I had of removed the opposite lock , once avoided the spin @@ Then the wheels would have been pointing up the track and not at the Tyre wall @@ The car was fully repaired @@ I now own 2006 Subaru Type 20 , see my other video ;) @@

    Tony

  • ha as if he was doin pretty good to:P jus proves the sti isent made for everyone know what you can handle brotha;P

  • hey cowboy kep acelerete dont stop kep drefting this is 4wd =)

  • Thats unlucky mate, looks like it broke traction really early though. Fair play to ownig up to driver error. No ones perfect :D

  • how do you know wich car's going to crash

  • uff that was a hard impact...hope u did not hurt yourself that much...all you had to do was flooring the gas and keeping the wheel in the direction you where heading to, the power itself would've corrected it...that works pretty much the same in fwd oversteering...try drifting your car and trying it, and see up to what point you get corrected...dont crash subbies anymore! :)

  • Your absolutley correct :D and I've had some training and know i could have saved that now ;)

it was never my intension to "Drift" just dailing out some natural understeer the Scoob has.

@@ Plus some poor missjudgement on my behalf and not understand the tyres were overheating and going "Off" ;) @@

Nearly 6 jears on from this crash and only had some minor "missjudgements"

    Tony

  • Ha! Very nice, I did exactly the same thing at last turn onto the straight at Wakefield park in Australia, was my first time in a 4WD car and too silly to realise I could power out much earlier from a slide, also kept oppy lock on for way too long, and also joyfully clouted the living shit out of the pit wall entrance. Still, it didn't look like too much of an awful hit?

  • Yes we all live and learn , hopefully :D

I'm Still in scoobs doing trackdays.

The bill was about $15,000 USD £10k gbp but Road insurance paid as covered me on Track.

    Tony

  • damn..what mods have ya done to ur STI? seems awfully fast

  • Just PPP(Prodrive Performance Pack 300bhp) and Prodrive suspension

  • p.s.

    you're crazy haha

  • So close to pulling that off.......you were booking it in the previous shots, nice driving man

  • i have plenty of enthusiasum and never had a passenger complain i was going too slow ;)

  • I'm just curious how did you try to compensate when you felt yourself lose control? It seemed like you almost had it back on the track , but then your car took a turn for the worse.

  • BTW i wasn't trying to "Drift" the car just misjudged the corner completely ;)

I had put on opposite lock to stop the car spinning right around, instantly the spin had been adverted the steering should have been facing up the track in th direction i was wanting to go. Inexperience on my part (and i frooze) left the opposite lock on FAR to long. The cars power pulled it to where the wheels were pointing, at the tyre wall.

  • Pretty much. Opposite lock should come off as soon as you feel the weight shift being neutralized (i.e. front right, back to center).

    Unlucky crash dude :(
