I don't know what's the hardest, but I love healing and have been sticking with it since TBC now. So definately the funniest for me, both when it's challenging and when it's just pressing one button and wondering where the damage is :3
It's just my opinion, but I think healing is ridiculously easy. I started off as ranged dps, went to melee and eventually went to healing.. I've tried tanking, and maybe it's just because I'm so used to standing back and making sure no one dies, that I find it SO damn hard. :(
Raid tanking is piss easy and boring, as a pally anyway. the only time that a thought process is necessary is when the boss has to be moved around. if someone pulls aggro, it's their fault. Tanking does require more pre-raid prep, but that's about it.
Healing is freaking easy. I press one button every 10 seconds.. woo.. Dps, press maybe one more button, and tanking i believe is the hardest. You actually have to pay attention lol
DPS is easy to do but hard to do well, tanking is defiantly the easiest, and with healing its kind of a mix but in general if u find healing hard your team is either under geared or your just bad, I'm expecting people to QQ over this but what ever
@Pcoar I have to sortoff agree on that, from 7 years of raiding I've noticed you mostly just need awereness and mechanical understanding. it wouldn't hurt if you learn to micro aswell (i.e keybinds which is a must in PvP).
One thing you do learn from PvE and not from PvP (mainly because people flame at you) is that your rotation sucks and you'll keep getting kicked if you don't do more then 6k dps.
Tank Dps or Healer - Tank is fun and easy if you can keep agro - Dps you only need do dmg and move litle not so hard - Healer ... Healing is easy if Tank is good and I mean that if Tank take dmg to much healing is wey to hard :D ... so I say dps is easy and healing hardest (now you are oom when you heal)
i loved priest played holy and or discipline it 6+ years through all the changes it was a lot of work but it made the game fun and challenging and added risk in some areas. loved wrath the most..
IMO, DPS is the easiest, but in endgame, it isn't about killing a mob, to the DPS. It's about trying to be the top DPS, which can be hard with people who know what they're doing.
Tanking is, IMO, just as hard as healing. If you fuck up, and I mean, fuck up badly, the healer/healers may die, and everyone dies.

it is by FAR easyer to tank or dps then it is to heal. i have played a druid, paldin, shaman, and priest healer. i also have played every tank class, and i have played a warrior, mage, death knight, and paladin dps. and i have found healing is the hardest
My ass, in Vanilla healing was hard not in cata. Melee dps prolly gets shit on the most these days. Tanking is easier because they don't have to worry about holding threat anymore
@AAHSKEETSKEETSKEET They increased threat because they're trying to shift the stying from "Semi-DPS that holds threat" to a style based on active damage reduction/mitigation. Look at the tank specs in MoP.
@dylanfrim healing is hard? really? it's really difficult to stand in one spot out of harms way and keep healing buffs up and spam heals on the tank? go figure. through my experience as long as you get the best gear of your level your group will never die, EVER, i tried healing for the 1st time, and i never died until i was level 65
From my experience, Tanks are difficult in certain situations but overall they are very simple, healers are a "you either have it or you don't" role, whilst dps seems to be the most min max intensive, having your dps constantly paraded across the raid, it gives you the feeling that you need to constantly get better, a feeling that the other two don't have.
I actually quit playing my druid tank in 4.2 because raiding as a tank in Firelands quite literally put me to sleep. When I switched to my shaman as a main, my under geared healing spec was really quite effective. I was eventually taken as an enhancement shaman and I've never looked back, my priority queue is interesting and has enough complication that I am able to stay awake the entire time. So my ranking from easiest to hardest is: Tank, DPS, heals.
Personally I don't think healing is hardest. I think everything is easy. Healing, and also tanking, are more unthankful though and get alot of blame. But that doesn't mean the role is hard, it just means people are douchebags.

any role can be hard, it just requires different stuff. like hlrs, as long as tank keeps aggro, it isnt too hard, and i can switch targets pretty easy, and healing isnt too hard. for tanking its like, get mobs, aggro threat, move out of aoe, interrupt, survive. dpsing however seems a lil hard for me, cuz i dont always have best fps and i cant interrupt alot of times, and i cant see where mobs are sometimes, and remember, ppl usually dont kick hlrs or tanks.
As someone who played WoW since BC, I played all 3 types. Tanking is the easiest; although you still have to pay attention. DPS, also pretty easy; loved my 85 Lock for that lol Healing is definitely the hardest, and ALSO healers tend to be the least appreciated class. At the end its kinda "Yeah, GG, nobody died." No thanks to them usually. Which is why I got into the habit of always thanking my healers.
i find healing very easy cause all the healing i di was just sitting at the back and healing people when they got hurt and knowing what to use to keep my manna up. People were mad at the Lich King. Over the course of WC3 and WoW, he killed, hurt, and turned some of our favorite characters. We watch as he creates this path of destruction and sorrow, we see Saurfang, Jaina, and Syvlanas all the time and remember what he's done to these characters we love. With Deathwing, we just have some angry dragon that kind of looks cool and broke some stuff. I also never felt as if there was any real Cataclysm, just a change in the world.
yeah you're right about that, dpses competes too much, and a lot of times will troll kick you if you don't do OP damage, everyone expects every dps to do top damage using add-ons, and in my my experience add-ons will just lag the game up and punch security holes from the crappy programming that these basement programmers from curse does

@DiamondChrome42 Each type has its own difficulty. Healers have to see everything going on, and have to watch everyone's HP bars, whereas tanks and dpsers rarely give a damn. DPSers have to pull every point they can out of everything, while dealing with raid mechanics, or else they're considered bad. Tanks can't fuck up anything. I can accidentally hit the wrong heal, and a dps can usually mess up their rotation. A tank fucks up, and it usually leads to a difficult situation, often a wipe.
I personally think dps'ing is hardest, and healing is easiest - the fact that i'm a healer myself might be the reason (used to it, etc.), but as healer - you only get as good as the boss allows. You can't possibly get better than there is damage.
While with dps, you can -always- get that small bit better (So you can flex you epeen on the meters :P)
Tanking? I hardly ever tank, but when i do, i get all stressed out, so gonna put that in the middle!
Meh, the first question I disagree with. I've done all 3. Healing, is pretty damn easy, Nothing too hard there at all. Damage dealing is easy if you look at the basics of just doing damage, however if you are a competitive DPS (like myself) and constantly try to do everything perfectly it gets rather difficult. And tanking is just faceroll. I would have to say damage dealing is the hardest to optimize, as you can always improve but in healing eventually there's nothing to heal.
I think Healing is the hardest, though I play a shaman, and I know the shaman isn't exactly the easiest healer to play as I also have a death knight DPS and a paladin tank. I find healing the hardest because it is always different. When you tank you always have to taunt off at a certain point, wait for stacks to fall off and what not. There is always a clue to tell the tank when to tank. When you DPS you always know when to burn. But as a healer, the damage is always different. Theres no pattern
Healing is the easiest! also the most rewarding in a horrible pull when everything seems to be going wrong, mobs come pooring in, but you keep everyone alive no matter how close they came to death, and then everyone is like "your amazing! great healz" and you are thinking " i just quickly cast spells and kept you alive because if i didn't all those people would have killed me horribly. your lives keep me alive! keep me safe... healers keep you alive because without you we have to work a hard...
DPS: have a rotation for maximum dps, while also having to move around. Sometimes they have extra roles in a bossfight, but than they are not required to have maximum dps.
Tanks: are a bit more dynamic than dps (arguably). They have to worry a lot more positioning than the dps. They also have to worry about stray mobs
Healers: Have to worry about positioning, fight events (big ass aoe). Which cooldown to use and which SPELL to use. And all of this while watching healthbars.
I started out as dps. But, I do way more healing than anything, although I've done all roles and currently have endgame toons that do all three. If you are an overgeared healer... no one is going to die, no matter how stupid. But if u are just geared for the content and say the tank is not or the dps is Idk walking around in pvp gear with no hit on it.... ur gonna get blamed for their fail. Simple and true... and aggravating :(
In regards to what you said about roles in WoW, I also agree with you that Healing is the more difficult aspect. Follow by Tanking and then DPS'ing. What I don't agree with you it's the fact that you diminish what they do. I mean, it's not all about 'Hey look at my dps guyz". You actually have to keep a rotation (for the most part) and look at your surrounding. Just wanted to add my 2 cents into the discussion.
Crendor. When I wake up I put an instant breakfast powder in some warm milk for breakfast. I usually have my breakfast foods at like mindnight-3am and I like waffles.
I do think healing is rather difficult, but sometimes blame isn't on healers when it should be. In my raid group strangely healers are NEVER blamed. They fail to dispel and then it looks like DPS are standing in fire when they are not. Healers have become sacred and never fail apparently. >.<

I've played all 3 to the max in Cata, I can safely say that tanking is the hardest in my opinion if you're in a bad group or things go wrong in a raid.
Healing is easy and my preferred role, its the stress the group puts on me for "failing to heal" the guy who got one shot cus his gear sucked that wears me down.
DPS is mid way, as they need to pay attention to maximize DPS and this role is often just assumed to easy because hey, its damage dealing, we can all do that!
In a point of view of raiding, you rely most on your healer. For most boss fights it's very healing intensive as people say. But obviously other people do their jobs, healers have to concentrate more I agree. But then again, I find healing the most exciting. I dpsed for a little bit and it was boring.. Really boring..

Healer is hard, and rolling as a priest that has done both disc and shadow. (I toggle healing and dps back and forth sometimes) I have healed and watched healers in the parties I go to and from what I have observed, healing is the hardest in my opinon. Even if you have a good tank and excellent DPS you have to stay on your toes and really pay attention to the HP of the other party members.
Sorry Crendor, I don't think you've tanked enough to get a clear picture of this. Tanking in the latter half of wotlk was the easiest time tanks ever had.
Tanking is the hardest, definitely. You have to know every pull and any little mistake shows up. Healing is a less stressful. You either keep everyone up or, you don't. 3rd, and a long way behind healing is dps. Mistakes as dps are way less impactful than any other role. Good dps is rare.
@MinecraftPlanetChan DPS is definitely not the hardest. If you're being yelled at its because you're bad and can't play your class, ALL you need to do is do dmg. Its not like the lives of your group rest in your hands (cough...healer..cough).

Healing Is pretty easy but depending on how nerfed or buffed your class is can make your toon very gear dependant and can be very shitty when you get blamed for shit that isn't your fault which will happen A LOT.
Tanking I consider to be the hardest because in cata its very gear and skill dependant and when your starting to gear its a real pain in the ass

I felt that the lore kept true in patch 4.3. We got to do most everything described in the stories made for the game. What interests me now is how the Pandaren will fit in. Will make for an interesting, fresh feel :P
So I played all three: a heal shaman, a blood dk and a rogue and i would say heal is really the most difficult. after comes dd, because your have to keep your rotation up and tank ist just...tankin... =)

As someone who played WoW since BC, I played all 3 types. Tanking is the easiest; although you still have to pay attention. DPS, also pretty easy; loved my 85 Lock for that lol Healing is definitely the hardest, and ALSO healers tend to be the least appreciated class. At the end its kinda "Yeah, GG, nobody died." No thanks to them usually. Which is why I got into the habit of always thanking my healers.

i find healing very easy cause all the healing i di was just sitting at the back and healing people when they got hurt and knowing what to use to keep my manna up. DPS is easy to cause all you ahve to have is a pick and poke it at em, with tanking you ethier get the puller,slow,or go guy and they all do it fine but the hardeist is the tank becuase you ahve to have a relation with every one and everything but you have to make sure your group survives and if the tank fails the healer and DPS will

People were mad at the Lich King. Over the course of WC3 and WoW, he killed, hurt, and turned some of our favorite characters. We watch as he creates this path of destruction and sorrow, we see Saurfang, Jaina, and Syvlanas all the time and remember what he's done to these characters we love. With Deathwing, we just have some angry dragon that kind of looks cool and broke some stuff. I also never felt as if there was any real Cataclysm, just a change in the world.

yeah you're right about that, dpses competes too much, and a lot of times will troll kick you if you don't do OP damage, everyone expects every dps to do top damage using add-ons, and in my my experience add-ons will just lag the game up and punch security holes from the crappy programming that these basement programmers from curse does

@DiamondChrome42 Each type has its own difficulty. Healers have to see everything going on, and have to watch everyone's HP bars, whereas tanks and dpsers rarely give a damn. DPSers have to pull every point they can out of everything, while dealing with raid mechanics, or else they're considered bad. Tanks can't fuck up anything. I can accidentally hit the wrong heal, and a dps can usually mess up their rotation. A tank fucks up, and it usually leads to a difficult situation, often a wipe.

I personally think dps'ing is hardest, and healing is easiest - the fact that i'm a healer myself might be the reason (used to it, etc.), but as healer - you only get as good as the boss allows. You can't possibly get better than there is damage.
While with dps, you can -always- get that small bit better (So you can flex you epeen on the meters :P)
Tanking? I hardly ever tank, but when i do, i get all stressed out, so gonna put that in the middle!

Meh, the first question I disagree with. I've done all 3. Healing, is pretty damn easy, Nothing too hard there at all. Damage dealing is easy if you look at the basics of just doing damage, however if you are a competitive DPS (like myself) and constantly try to do everything perfectly it gets rather difficult. And tanking is just faceroll. I would have to say damage dealing is the hardest to optimize, as you can always improve but in healing eventually there's nothing to heal.

I think Healing is the hardest, though I play a shaman, and I know the shaman isn't exactly the easiest healer to play as I also have a death knight DPS and a paladin tank. I find healing the hardest because it is always different. When you tank you always have to taunt off at a certain point, wait for stacks to fall off and what not. There is always a clue to tell the tank when to tank. When you DPS you always know when to burn. But as a healer, the damage is always different. Theres no pattern

Healers in PvE
DPS: have a rotation for maximum dps, while also having to move around. Sometimes they have extra roles in a bossfight, but than they are not required to have maximum dps.
Tanks: are a bit more dynamic than dps (arguably). They have to worry a lot more positioning than the dps. They also have to worry about stray mobs
Healers: Have to worry about positioning, fight events (big ass aoe). Which cooldown to use and which SPELL to use. And all of this while watching healthbars.

I started out as dps. But, I do way more healing than anything, although I've done all roles and currently have endgame toons that do all three. If you are an overgeared healer... no one is going to die, no matter how stupid. But if u are just geared for the content and say the tank is not or the dps is Idk walking around in pvp gear with no hit on it.... ur gonna get blamed for their fail. Simple and true... and aggravating :(

In regards to what you said about roles in WoW, I also agree with you that Healing is the more difficult aspect. Follow by Tanking and then DPS'ing. What I don't agree with you it's the fact that you diminish what they do. I mean, it's not all about 'Hey look at my dps guyz". You actually have to keep a rotation (for the most part) and look at your surrounding. Just wanted to add my 2 cents into the discussion.

I do think healing is rather difficult, but sometimes blame isn't on healers when it should be. In my raid group strangely healers are NEVER blamed. They fail to dispel and then it looks like DPS are standing in fire when they are not. Healers have become sacred and never fail apparently. >.<

I've played all 3 to the max in Cata, I can safely say that tanking is the hardest in my opinion if you're in a bad group or things go wrong in a raid.
Healing is easy and my preferred role, its the stress the group puts on me for "failing to heal" the guy who got one shot cus his gear sucked that wears me down.
DPS is mid way, as they need to pay attention to maximize DPS and this role is often just assumed to easy because hey, its damage dealing, we can all do that!

In a point of view of raiding, you rely most on your healer. For most boss fights it's very healing intensive as people say. But obviously other people do their jobs, healers have to concentrate more I agree. But then again, I find healing the most exciting. I dpsed for a little bit and it was boring.. Really boring..

Healer is hard, and rolling as a priest that has done both disc and shadow. (I toggle healing and dps back and forth sometimes) I have healed and watched healers in the parties I go to and from what I have observed, healing is the hardest in my opinon. Even if you have a good tank and excellent DPS you have to stay on your toes and really pay attention to the HP of the other party members.

Sorry Crendor, I don't think you've tanked enough to get a clear picture of this. Tanking in the latter half of wotlk was the easiest time tanks ever had.
Tanking is the hardest, definitely. You have to know every pull and any little mistake shows up. Healing is a less stressful. You either keep everyone up or, you don't. 3rd, and a long way behind healing is dps. Mistakes as dps are way less impactful than any other role. Good dps is rare.

DPS is easy but depending on your class can be harder to gear because of long ques and some classes get shit drops
Healing Is pretty easy but depending on how nerfed or buffed your class is can make your toon very gear dependant and can be very shitty when you get blamed for shit that isn't your fault which will happen A LOT.
Tanking I consider to be the hardest because in cata its very gear and skill dependant and when your starting to gear its a real pain in the ass
