I remember back when I was a beginner I wanted to play fast, ass-kicking solos. It sounded like the worst shit you can possibly play at first, until I managed to play fluently. But even then it still sounded crappy... and it took me time to realize that fast licks are nothing if your solo doesn't include some feeling. Then I worked vibrato, proper bending... and here I am, I can play well. :)

I understood that what makes a fast lick awesome is often how it is introduced, and how the chord progression and the band accompanies it. It's not only about speed.

That isnt exactly right, i know this man whos been playing years before you were probably even born, and even him...being a guitar intructor takes at least 5 minutes without a tuner, with noise everywhere, in the worst place to tune a guitar ever. (mostly setting the strings...lot of people have never set there strings even once.) but him, he makes a guitar sound beautifull. Perfectly tuned by ear. :)

(Tuning before always the best thing. :)) I take at least ten minutes, to get my guitar with all strings in a perfect harmony....I was brought about that if you dont know how to tune, than why bother playing. :) I do apreciate your response. :)
